Tell me why I should buy yacht?

If you antagonize groups of players in jets, it's a safehaven. Once you're on it you're free to turn defenses on and off while taking down the jets with a sniper.

I have my yacht settings set to friends only but a random was able to get on board and kill me? Is there not a way to prevent someone from swimming up and boarding?

That's only AA and vehicles. Anyone can go on it.If I turn defenses on, I noticed you can't equip a weapon. So defenses would keep someone from flying in but what about swimming up to it? Does it keep a random from equipping a weapon as well?

Edit nm, I just read it means who can access the interior. Nevermind again, I don't know

Edit- to answer above. The defenses keep everyone from using a weapon on the yatch. The only thing that can kill you with defenses on is the orbital cannon.

Yeah - the more advanced 2018 version troll is to fly high overhead with the Akula and spam bombs all over the yacht. I smashed an org of 4 people with this repeatedly for a few minutes, they were not too friendly afterward.

They're essentially useless so don't buy one if you don't want to waste whatever amount of money you would spend on it. If you have excess money to burn though, may as well; it's a cool status symbol, mildly fun to hang out on once in a while, and you can host Piracy Prevention. (You also can sit on your yacht with a bounty and yacht defenses on, trying to bait people into getting blown up, but few will fall for it anymore.)

 

If you do buy one, get the 2nd tier one. It has a better layout than the high-end yacht (easier front-to-back access) and nearly as good of amenities. I actually bought the most expensive yacht originally and traded it in for the 2nd level one later, that's how strongly I feel that the layout is superior.

Doesn't the easier access on the second yacht make piracy prevention easier for attackers to get to the owner?

Do it, even at full price you only have to bathe hot tub for ~13h to pay for the most luxurious yacht if you appeal to communism and view it as each hot tub prevention paying 120K for your group.

 

Even with an appeal to capitalism you only have to bathe hot tub for 2days 7hours and 30minutes to gain it all back. If you're serious about hot tubing in GTA you'll have it done in a jiffy.

I didn't know Orbital Cannon can even kill someone with their Yatch defense on. Thanks for the info.

 

Back on topic. To be honest, I also can't find a good reason to buy a Yatch despite seeing it on discount for plenty of time already. It doesn't offer exciting side missions compared to Bunker, Facility and Hangar. No passive income from Yatch as well.

It's a luxury item for when your other needs are met and you've got money to burn.

 

It has some use as a griefing tool, as others have mentioned, and I've had my share of fun sniping people on the beach or activating the defenses as someone flew a red crate too close. But ultimately, the yacht serves no purpose beyond conspicuous consumption.

I was thinking the same thing, what do others have to say about this?

^ Well they both offer two ways of attack. One being obviously the stairs for both.

The picies has a protected roof but you can get on the upper walkway from the front and attack trough the side doors.

The Aquarius has the protected walkways but you can attack through the roof hatch by climbing up from the front.

Its really your choice from where you want your attacker to attack.

 

I own the mid-level model, The Pisces per the suggestion of others on this forum. The reason being the canopy over the top deck prevents people from parachuting in during Piracy Prevention.

 

A little bonus nobody seems to have mentioned is that you health regenerates when SITTING in the hot tub. Not armor, just health.

I actually like the open "roof" of the most expensive yacht since I mostly sit on the roof of my yacht behind the arch during piracy prevention. It allows me to drop down quickly should someone get on the yacht and try to take over. Edited May 9, 2018 by Black-Dragon96
