Lemoyne outlaw
hi everyone. i have been thinking about our next adventure in the wild west a lot lately. of course we all have. but i was also thinking last night. since this game is going to focus the gang and the camps. i was wondering. will there be safehouses? i really like them in gta and in the first red dead redemption. you could even buy them in redemption. but since we will almost always be with the gang. it made me think that we might not get any. and it would be a shame. i mean im not gonna go all pre ordered cancelled. but safehouses have been a staple in rockstars open world games. and it would be sad to see them go. so what do you all think about safehouses? should they stay or go? joshua969
joshua969
I liked them in RDR, but it appears they're going in a different direction. I assume our gang camp moves as the story progresses. That said, I hope the single campsite is still in the game as it gave you a nice little quick save option. Yelda

Bigglo145
that would suck if theres no safe houses in game, i like how in rdr every safe house in every territory felt different rtie, Non Funkable Token, joshua969 and 3 others
MVP
Most likely just like the first game. My personal favorite was the Saloon in Armadillo. Very handy, and we'll likely have a trunk to change clothes and a bed to sleep in. Edited May 7, 2018 by MostWantedMVP joshua969

Lonely-Martin
I don't see it in SP. I could see it in Online though. My thoughts too, though hopefully if we're away from the camp for a while or travel far, we can rent lodgings for the night to save/change clothes etc.
Lemoyne outlaw
that would suck if theres no safe houses in game, i like how in rdr every safe house in every territory felt different exactly! each interior was unique. and since there will be a bunch of territories. it will be a missed opportunity. Cutter De Blanc
It says "rooms for rent" Yeah, says that sh*t in GTAV too Would be a step BACKWARDS if they don't include them Edited May 7, 2018 by Cutter De Blanc Lemoyne outlaw
Zello
Arthur needs to have his own place where he can get away from the camp for a while. eighthdoctor and Cutter De Blanc

There's a camp mechanic for a reason. Maybe it wouldn't make sense to buy houses/rooms for Arthur. You could buy properties in GTA V. ColePhelps
imo i think there be hotel rooms, cabins, etc.. you can rent/purchase. couldn't imagine having to ride all the way across the entire map to your camp for a bed Yelda and joshua969
Non Funkable Token
With the camp feature I don't think they'll let Arthur buy rooms/houses. Only the portable camp for a quick save. I believe they'll save that for online so the $$$$$ are spent and more coyote cards are sold. Edited May 7, 2018 by Fluffy Sock Yelda

Michael lives with his family, Franklin has to switch houses for story reasons, Trevor also has safehouses due to story reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if we can't buy safehouses in RDR2. You are on the run. Buying houses and apartments wouldn't make sense TBH. Yelda
Zello
In GTA V after Michael's family left him he could have gone out and bought a couple houses. R* should have had Amanda kick Michael out of the house so then he would have to find a new place to stay. Trevor and Franklin aren't tied down to anything so they could move around as they please. You have a point about being on the run in RDR2 so we can't buy safehouses but what about renting rooms? Edited May 7, 2018 by Zello
TAFFER404
You'll have a camp/tent. Same goes for online.

I don't remember why exactly but Lester tells him that he has to. Something to do with Lester's investments IIRC.
The Jungz
Would be a major step backwards not to have safehouses IMO. Should keep the system like it was in RDR. Safehouses in certain cities (gives you another reason to visit them) and having the ability to lay a campsite anywhere on the map for a quick save or fast travel. And then you can have the gang's camp that acts as an HQ or a bit like the clubhouse in TLAD. One of the biggest gripes I had against GTA V was that the map was gigantic and detailed to sh*t yet you couldn't buy any houses to admire the numerous amazing sights the game had to offer. It would also feel quite weird (and immersion breaking) to spend an evening in a certain town, getting sh*tfaced at the local saloon and then having to hop on your horse and galop a few hundred feet outside said town just to lay a campsite, instead of renting a room or sleeping in your own place. Jimmy Darmody
We probably won't have safehouses for the simple fact that it doesn't fit the story. If Arthur is an outlaw running from the Pinkerton Agency why would he bother buying fixed safehouses on particular spots? If there is going to be any such thing as a safehouse i'm guessing it's going to be hotel rooms for rent or maybe small isolated cabins, not things like a large plantation or so. Of course that i'm speculating though. Yelda
Red Dead Rebel
Yeah but the gang will actively be on the run. Even the gang camp will change places. It wouldn't make sense to buy houses. It would be a good feature but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't in the game.
Cutter De Blanc
I think this is one of those situations where fun ought to trump realism
rtie
I'm sure we'll have safe houses since the camp stays static until the story progresses. It's a handy utility to save your game/rest/stock up on ammo when you're in a more unfamiliar part of the world.
