Kirsty Posted May 6, 2018 Share Posted May 6, 2018 What's not to love about this horse-riding, gun-toting, knife-wielding outlaw of the Van Der Linde gang? We got a very brief glimpse of her in Trailer #1, then met her fully in Trailer #2 and #3. On the latter two occasions she is seen stabbing the hell out of someone. She's got scars on her face and IGN commented that "few have such a knack for getting into and out of trouble" as she does, so we know that she's not afraid to get her hands dirty and she's very handy to have around! We don't know much about her otherwise yet, but she's certainly earned herself a following around here. My impression of her is that she's level headed but strong willed. Maybe she'll be a bit like Bonnie too, self-assured and insightful about the ways of the world at the time. Essentially, a total badass and both vital and central to the story of RDR2. Well-written female characters with depth are absolutely welcome; I'm glad we're getting a single protagonist but I wouldn't mind playing a character like Sadie in DLC as well either *nudge nudge wink wink Rockstar*. The screenshots hint that she'll be right in the middle of the action in set-piece missions and is quite close to Arthur. She's even seen back to back with John in one screenshot. Interestingly Adler Farm is a location seen on the leaked map as well, so hopefully we get to learn about her family and ties to the area. I know their history of strongly written female characters isn't great but I am struggling to think of even one. Catalina from GTA 3 is up there I guess, but she was an antagonist. Yeah, there's not been many over the years. I guess Elizabeta came close in GTA IV, and GTA Online has had women present in-game and in its artwork but they're not really characters. I wouldn't want them to insert any type of character just to tick a box, but since it's becoming longer and longer between releases it's just noticeable that there aren't many notable ones amongst their games. Even with it's setting of an unforgiving wild west where women wouldn't be treated so well, I'm really hopeful that Sadie is going to give us a female character of depth that we haven't seen from Rockstar before, especially as she holds her own amongst a posse of hardened men. She also seems closer to Arthur than the rest of the gang, with the two being in screenshots together a lot and the line ''You're the only one of these fools that I trust.'' One of my hopes for Sadie is that she's a persistent character in the game, maybe as someone suggested, who knows if there's some kind of romance story arc - but she may be a bit too badass for that from what they describe of her. If they make us attached to her and then kill her... I'm not positive that it will. I also think it's possible they'll pull a fast one and one or two of the gang will just be presumed dead and go into hiding. Who knows...
