Everyone can say they hate drip feeding all they want, but you jump right on board with it. It works on all scales and it's worked all the way back to Osiris and T20. If you don't like it, don't buy the cars. Wait for the information to come out and decide what to spend before it gets drip fed and then spend the money or even just wait until all the cars come out and then spend the money. It's really not that hard.

I'll tell you what the real problem is, we are a spoiled world that wants everything when we want it, but if R* gave everyone what they wanted they'd play for two minutes, put the game away and move over to something else. The drip feeding is inconvenient for you because you have to keep playing the game.

So there is no real relevant argument that R* should even consider to why they should stop drip-feeding content. Bottom line.

actually i don´t mind the whole Dripfeed thing .... 1 new car every week is OK for me , so that there would be a reason to play/grind/race during that week, in doing so i can spend 1 whole week with the new cars/vehicle driving around with it . plus I don´t think that it´s fun to just buy everything at day 1 and then wait 3 months till the next DLC comes out ....

with that beeing said , releasing dripfeed vehicles in groups every 2 weeks ist not a good idea IMO ... just bring back the old dripfeed system (1 week 1 vehicle ) ....

as for the Jester classic , it´s very obvious at this point that it was a cut-content from 2013 ... they probably planed to release it with the game´s launch but decided otherwise .. and now they are bringing it back due to the higher demand ....

Dont care, really.

Ill inevitably see unreleased sh*t on social media, but I just cant get hyped on the content. I think its because driving around in regular street cars in IV is still stuck with me. The only expensive car I have is my Deluxo. All of my other ones cost less than $100k or cost nothing (my Hermes could be an exception). All of my other vehicles are regular, inexpensive vehicles. If I need 4 doors, I have a Premier that I like very much. If I need AWD and 4 doors, I have a Stratum. If I need a bike, I have my PCJ. If I need (some) speed, I have a regular Ruiner for that. I also have a Surge, a Futo, and a Blista Compact. I have bought other dripfed cars (Retinue, Torero, Viseris) but every time Ive seen the notification in the corner of my screen upon logging in and have been like oh, great - its been released. Let me buy one. No anticipation beforehand. Im also not a huge plane/helicopter buff. A Buzzard is sufficient. Maybe a Hydra if I for some reason have the money laying around.

Ill have the same oh, nice attitude for the Cheburek assuming that this cardboard body kit Ive seen on it is a real LSC mod.

The main problem I have is knowing everything is already in the game files but arbitrarily locked until someone at R* flips the switch.

I'm probably the minority here, just at this point in time I don't care about the drip-feed or have anything to say on it. the last two normal vehicles I purchased were likely the jester and zentorno, the rest are part of gunrunning & Doomsday and with those they're usually already there, you just need to either go through missions or objectives to unlock them or you can BIN (Buy it now) if you want to skip the work of unlocking it and just go for it. None of the new vehicles interest me & the only reason I've stuck to weaponized vehicles over normal vehicles is because I need a way of defending myself should someone attack me. It's too risky for me to take a street vehicle as one RPG rocket to it and I'm down but if I take an armoured / weaponized vehicle I'm protected. It's starting to sound like that the way the game is has changed what I care about, If I didn't need to protect myself and cared about the normal vehicles over weaponized then I'd probably have something to say about the dripfeed but like I mentioned above I'm the opposite.

Prenihility

It really has reached a new, all-time low. They don't release new vehicles for 3 weeks. Then they release another sloppily created piece of sh*t, overpriced, underperforming Supercar with the generic vehicle interior.

Beyond pathetic. I'm coming from PS3, where when we got a DLC, you download it in excitement, then you install, then you play. Very simple. The DOWNLOAD is released on one day, then the rest of the DLC can take up to two f*ckING MONTHS TO BE RELEASED.

And if ANYTHING, Rockstar will be enticing people to be splurging and spending more than they should, potentially making people buy even more Shark Cards. This way, the irresponsible people are more likely to buy more AT ONCE. Instead of giving them a significant buffer of time to accumulate funds.

Spoon feed f*ckING SUCKS. Been playing since the game was brand new. And then I spend money AGAIN for the "ENHANCED" version?! Only to be greeted with little bitch-tits spoon-feeding of DLC. f*ck OFF!

I'm sick and tired of this sh*t. I saw them release this garbage-ass new Hasbro-looking car today and I swear a part of me wants to just quit altogether. Or at least just start playing this game DLC-to-DLC. Oh... wait.

You guys are arguing about the wrong things. It's not about drip feeding or about the rate at which it drips. It's the content that drips. We've literally gotten the same thing over and over And over but with a different color palette. The updates are the same. And the structure of online is horrible. Nothing added has changed the gameplay aspects in any dynamic way. I would be mad if i had bought a shark card because when you realize just how useless the affordable items are the regret will set in.

If they had spent as much time on simple gameplay elements such as a crouch button, or a hardcore mode to turn off radar to dynamically changes the game in creative and innovative ways as to keep players coming back in a productive way. We are rinse repeat killmatching.

Sure you can make your own fun. But how cool would it have been to call madrazo and spend 5k to track a silent kill squad to take your enemy out WITHOUT notifying them!!

Tldr

Dripfeed sucks but is the least of your hype train worries.

I literally mentioned this in the OP...

also, many other people have mentioned the garbage repetitive content

You could argue about how they added new stunt races, but that is just recycled content. Nothing has changed

This is honestly so sad. R* Has taken the drip-feeding way too far. They spend all this time, and cant produce good enough content anyways. They add these good vehicles, but they have so much missed potential. The Sea Sparrow had the potential to be a good and lethal helicopter if it had the OP machine gun from GTA SA, but no. So if R* isn't going to produce good enough cars after such a long time, wtf are they doing?

Doesn't this all come down to opinion?

Personally I love the new vehicles they released. For years this game has introduced vehicle after vehicle I have little interest in. Tell me I'm wrong.....

And really be honest here, do you really think the recent DLC is worse than the DLC from the first year-two? Almost all the original DLC was a SMALL handful of cars, clothing, and weapons. No major changes, no major additions, nothing really new. Personally, I think the DLC of the last 2 years have been better than the DLC from the first 2.

You are literally comparing day one and first-year content added to GTA to content released four years later. That is one of the worst comparisons I have ever seen. Yes, it has gotten better but its still trash. Also, I don't think you read that whole quote where I mentioned the recycled content. 80% of the sh*t they add is the same stuff over and over again. Look at adversary modes. They always release adversary modes every update. Are they even good? No. I can probably name only four adversary modes that were actually fun. They have had plenty of time to improve, and they haven't.

Isn't your entire argument based on comparing old content to new content? Something you're trying to tell me I'm not supposed to do. Seems a bit hypocritical, but I get it, it doesn't fit your narrative so it doesn't matter.

Oh and to clarify, I was comparing the first two years of content to the recent DLC's. So let's say from Oct. 2013-Oct 2015 compared to Oct. 2016-Now.

In a 5 year old game, at this point I take anything new as a bonus whether it comes every week or every 3 months.

Wait, Grand Theft Auto V is already about half a decade old? But, it feels like it was just yesterday when I went to grab my copy on the midnight release and spent Christmas with my best friend from high school messing around in Online... My god, I was still in high school back then, I'll be getting out of college soon by this point, I can't believe it's been so long...

Pretty sure I posted early on how much content was in each update and, those more regular updates had less content over a 6 month period than we currently get over 6 months. We get more now. It's always been "recycled". Even the early updates were recycled. All cars had one of a few interiors, guns were barely different, clothing - well, if changing the colour of a t-shirt isn't recycling I don't know what is.

Quality of update is largely opinion based.

It comes down to the fact we now find out, through unofficial means, that an update has something that has been largely requested but locked behind "dripfeed". Impatience is the problem.

How does it cause players to spend more money over previous non-drip feed content?

I don't see the logic there. I'll not play until something I want drops, that's often weeks or months without me spending money and weeks or months of me not doing anything to cause other players to spend money too. Am I the only player who doesn't buy every piece of crap Rockstar release? I don't think so. I was more tempted to buy crap when it all dropped at once to be honest.

So please, elaborate on why you believe drip feeding causes players to spend more money than non-drip feed content did. It just doesn't make sense.

*sigh* I don't know if you've played recently (probably not) but r* has released 4 super cars. Now, pretend you didn't know about the drip feed. So you buy both of them. Fast forward a couple weeks later, and a new super car comes out.

You like it more than one of the ones you bought. You realize that if the car you liked came out sooner, you wouldn't have bought the car you sort of liked. Imagine if you like the flash gt more than the gb200. Imagine if you liked the Neon more than the Raiden. The Comet Sr over the comet safari. The autech more than the sc1, etc, etc.

It also works the other way, you could just be buying these drip fed cars because they come out later. Take for instance, the Jester classic. A poorly modeled supra that won't be coming out for a couple weeks.

So not really different to, for instance, Ill Gotten Gains 1 and Ill Gotten Gains 2 updates except, unless living under a rock, you're unaware of the content that's coming.

I get what you're saying but don't see how it's any worse (or any better) than the old monthly updates of filler content. At least with drip feed content there's a chance you may stumble upon a tweet or post somewhere with the list of vehicles coming and when.

I don't know how long you have played GTA:O but back on 10th June 2015 we were given the Osiris. Now no pretend needed, we didn't know what was coming, we bought the Osiris. On July 8th 2015, 4 weeks later, we were given the T20. You know where this is heading right?

Edit: In fact, back then we had VERY limited garage space too. I had to sell a lot of my vehicles to make way for new. I had to re-buy those vehicles when new garages were released. Technically I wasn't spending more, I was wasting more, on the trade value of the cars I was trading in for newer cars but it's extremely similar.

Could we not complain that updates are causing players to spend more money based on the same fundamental ideas?

Spectre "2K"

idk, Smuggler's Run dripfeed really annoyed me, and then all of a sudden everything after that i just didn't mind that much. If anything the dripfeed has made a consistent schedule for updated double money playlists every week, so that's what i look forward to most (but i swear to god if it's motor wars one more time)

Ill gotten gains was more than 1 super car though. 4 weeks later, you got an entire update. See, with drip feed, there's no need for filler updates like ill gotten gains 2. Just pack a bunch of unfinished cars in one update and release then with bonuses on adversary modes and businesses.

Speaking of unfinished cars, instead of packing them into an update, it gives r* more time to finish them. Maybe that supra could've had liveries and proper customization.

See, to me, holding back a car that I want or is unfinished is only part of the problem.

Either way (old way of an update every 4-6 weeks or new way of update every 3 months and dripfeed) you're still going to come across a new car which you would have preferred to one you bought before you knew of the new car and I can't see that drip feed costs players more money than pre-drip feed updates. If anything, I'd say it's less likely because we know about drip feed, we know about unreleased cars and there are many youtubers who show these off before they are released, which cannot be said about old style updates. Can you honestly say that you have purchased a car or any vehicle from an update then found a drip fed vehicle was what you really wanted?

Even old gen updates had unfinished cars, or quickly copy/pasted cars. To be honest, the quality of vehicles in GTA has, in my opinion, been very poor. Perhaps I set my standards too high for these since I'm used to Forza, Test Drive, etc. where the cars seem to be of a much higher quality.

Would R* really spend that time to finish them off? Would they really spend any more time than absolutely necessary on anything?

At least with drip feeding we know what's coming and can see it before it's released etc. We have that over the old pre-drip fed updates which is a plus in my book.

Its not about releasing cars you prefer, thats always the case no matter what. Its about the need for filler updates. Ill gotten gains was an entire update, where as with these 4 weeks, we've gotten some cars and some ad modes. Its easier to do it the new way. Less diverse.

"Time to save up for it"

This only applies to limited time items, of which there have been, what, three? Four? in the entire history of GTA online. Well, cars, anyway.

The drip feed is stupid, and you can't justify having extra time to save up for anything. You have until they shut down GTA:O to save up for anything in the game. Not being able to buy it an extra few days or weeks doesn't do anything but f*ck with your sense of value for the thing in question. You get hyped up for it the longer it takes, and then it disappoints or whatever.

That's a bad reason. And you're a dummy if you use it.

I think when the next DLC rolls out, I'll completely skip any threads containing leaks, just to don't have endure this type of waiting. Rather keep the suspense, like in the early days, before I registered here.

Dripfeeding is fine for me because I wait for vehicles to go on sale before I buy.

You kids these days and your incessant need for instant gratification.

Back when I was your level, we had to grind for MONTHS just to afford an Adder and there WAS NO DLC!!

Content and the idea of how drip-feeding is executed are two different things. You were comparing the actual content. The only time I mentioned content was when I said it was repetitive and recycled and overall lazy and crap content.

Edit: The only other time I compared the content (somewhat) was when I compared the filler updates. That does not mean that my whole entire argument was comparing old content to new :sarcasm:
