Bikers... Basically, the update I wanted the second I joined the game. Gave me half of my wardrobe options, really awesome motorbikes and weapons that actually made bikers somewhat better equiped (when considering 2016's freemode state). To this day, Contract Work is the best way to get people to bond together, where every time they're given double rewards is some of the best times to log into Online. And, on a personal level, it was the heyday of my crew - our golden times - and most of the people that used to ride with have disappeared since then. I miss October 2016 very dearly.
Freemode Events... Complete disgrace. Removed world-building events for arcade-y nonsensical crap, taking with itself awards that I never had the chance to get. Not to mention the removal of Special Crate drops, which is an experience I never got to live and was precisely up my alley. Screw this update.

Lowriders, because Lowriders, gave a little SA vibe, one of my favorite car of all time. Plus 1.

I wanted to kill Gunrunning but nobody wants to take away 2 points, and it should go before the SSASSS, just because it introduced APC that turned out to be humongous disappointment, flying f*cking bike and the fact that most of the content was rehashed, while SSASSS at least had some cool cars in it, so here ya go:

GUNRUNNING: I can only agree with the others. The unforgivable Research, the Oppressor and its stinky missiles, and yet another business which we can only do in freemode, and be lucky to find an empty session to sell them in.

 

 

IMPORT/EXPORT: 80k profit each ~15 mins, if set up correctly. That update put a whole other standard to what an update should have, profit wise. Only downside is all that "freemode only blah-blah" thing.

Gunrunning is eliminated first, which is understandable but still a bit shocking. Rockstar need to make sure they never pull a stunt like that again; huge pay walls is one thing we can tolerate - buying a bunker, followed by an MOC, followed by other stuff on top of that to get the things you really want, but hiding additional items behind an unforgivable randomwall system, on top of that? Double yuck.

 

Even so, the first thing I do every time I log on is spawn in my bunker, buy an additional block of supplies for 75k, and sell the accumulated amount from the last time I logged on for 210k + bonus for players in the lobby. It's the best way to start your GTA day. I thank the bunkers for that.

The most boring of dripfeeds. Useless planes that most players will never buy... putting 60% of them on sale for 40% last week was very well proof of that. Not to mention the business is utter sh*t, it's fun but the pay is garbage. Apart from the batmobile, we didn't get one car. Not to mention the Helisexuals totally rigged that one game.


I/E has the best business, and introduced big garages!


Also, I'm ashamed.... SSA deserved to die first. GR had a saving grace, the Bunker. This sh*t update has nothing going for it!

Rockstar need to make sure they never pull a stunt like that again; huge pay walls is one thing we can tolerate - buying a bunker, followed by an MOC, followed by other stuff on top of that to get the things you really want, but hiding additional items behind an unforgivable randomwall system, on top of that? Double yuck.

 

Even so, the first thing I do every time I log on is spawn in my bunker, buy an additional block of supplies for 75k, and sell the accumulated amount from the last time I logged on for 210k + bonus for players in the lobby. It's the best way to start your GTA day. I thank the bunkers for that.

It's not just the research to be honest (though I'd say that was the worst of it).

 

Introducing the Oppressor, and really taking the whole meme vehicle thing a bit too far - I mean, before the worst you got was a car that jumped, and not very high. After that everything has to float in the air and have at least 20 missiles on it. Butchering the APC. The old APC could be used solo, and had a cannon that fitted on it (kind of a Valkyrie-style gun). Instead it has one that's twice as powerful as the tank's cannon - just doesn't fit at all. Explosive sniper rounds too are pretty meh. They're a necessary evil in my opinion. But that's not exactly big praise.

 

All that said, I do use the bunker to make money a lot. It's much less of a drag to keep running than those old biker businesses.

(+1) Smuggler's Run. Introduced the Hunter, countermeasures, Savage buff, lots of great planes I still use today. Obvious choice for me.
(-1) Lowriders: Custom Classics. That one actually got me to take a few months off the game, it bored me that much.
(-1) Festive Surprise. Well, the surprise was they ruined all the helicopters for the most part. Undone most of the damage now, but yeah - kind of spoils the memory of the update.

I/E +1 I'll have to spread my upvotes around a bit, but this update really was amazing in my eyes.

 

CS:SVC -2 This was how R* chose to follow up I/E, 20 sh*t races that barely anyone touches even during events. Also, even though I loved the cars (GP1, Turismo Classic, Internus Classic) R* managed to make a dripfeed out of a f*cking 4 car update.

-1 Smuggler's Run (like Gunrunning, only half-assed - Gunrunning's already gone, but this one needs to follow it, ASAP)

+1 Classic Heists. I still enjoy them with friends, crew and randoms. Moreover, I can do them oneeyed, drunken or half sleeping and still enjoy them.

-2 Holiday Gifts. Nothing against them except the 2015 edition brought a dear head I really loved and was taken away somewhere in February from my char. . The 2016/17 deer head edition was different and kitschy.
