I have to admit, that I love the idea that there are so many jobs to do in GTAO, between Contact Missions, CEO work, Freeroam Events, MC work, and of course, Heists.

But, wouldn't it be great if there were routine jobs around Los Santos that we could take on to earn extra cash and explore areas of the game that would keep users "in the game," even longer than we already are?

Now, before you admins start sitting upright and wiping crumbs off your keyboards, this is for fun – it's Not a Wishlist (NAW)!
I'd sincerely enjoy a conversation on what folks would be interested in doing in Los Santos besides criminal activity, so kindly don't move or lock (unless it's just a really awful thread!)

Anyhow, humor aside, what jobs do you think you'd actually be interested in taking on, much like a Freeroam event, where you're maybe assigned a job, you have to get to the location to do that job, and you spend a certain amount of time doing it to earn ca$h and RP?

Think back to older versions of the game where we fantastic, fun side careers with Crane jobs, Police jobs, Taxi jobs, and Ambulance jobs.

Here are some ideas of jobs that could be had in GTAO:
• Dock worker
• Merryweather Mercenary
• Convenience Store clerk
• Bouncer at the Unicorn
• Dancer at the Unicorn
• Yacht bartender
• Auto mechanic
• Lady/Man of the evening
• Shuttle pilot
• Lumberjack
• Oil worker
• Lifeguard
• Tattoo artist / Hair stylist / Clothier
• Auxiliary fire fighter
• Banker
• and more – feel free to add your own!

While this may not appeal to everyone, I'm curious if folks would actually participate in these jobs?
Or would they end up being less than casually utilized like Darts, Armwrestling, and Golf activities?

And no, these are not jobs anyone would ever expect in the game or actually wish for. This is just for fun.
Looking forward to any replies! Cheers! :)

Definately a Taxi driver so I can make a little bit of dosh and RP on the side while waiting for VIP cooldowns. Owning the Taxi Palour and my own Taxi would be really good :D Good thread as always!

Just the usual Taxi, Ambulance, Fire-Truck, Vigilante (Cop-Car) would be interesting well for me at least. And if we could use custom vehicles for that would be nice too. Own a small taxi business, little police station etc. i mean everything else is so pretty much not doable in gta. I mean it's about driving and shooting stuff and nothing else.

Hell yeah! I've been waiting for the time to drive that dashound bus, or pilot a plane from shandy shores to LSIA, as long as it's payouts well $20 or $100 for every dashound passenger or 50k for one flight sounds good :D

This is where I think Rockstar has really dropped the ball.

First they needed to have Contact Missions be pace-able and story oriented, but still replayable. In online you just jump in an one a contact mission or job unlocks you just do it. I felt that Lamar was going to be with me for awhile and give me something to do other than shoot people in a freeroam and instead after level 5 and a call from Lester I was pretty much, "that's in, you're on your own." This story could've expanded into Heists and then Doomsday and we'd be invested in something other than just RP and Cash, which both are pretty much useless in the game since nothing you buy gives you anything for the payout.

Odd jobs were a staple from GTA 3. Being a Firefighter, Police Officer, or Taxi Driver were great jobs. Instead we got gang attacks and bounties that only added to people purchasing tanks to be more proficient at grieving in free roam. Feed the beast and you get a bigger beast. That meant that R* spent more time figuring out how to stop money lobbies and people being idiots in free roam.

Now we finally get missions like jacking cars, selling drugs, etc. and instead of making it readily available you have to purchase millions in property and other crap and since you have no friends because nobody wants to be your dogged body guard you end up doing by yourself. Honestly, most people don't even spend the money, they just go out and shoot up lobbies because honestly, it's easier. It's all very confusing as to what they were thinking.

I would love the idea of being hired as a tax driver by other players or a firefighter to put out the fires at their business. A fire that was started because someone got a random mission to attack someone's base and steal from them which lead up to basically a contact mission in a free roam, but the whole lobby could show up and put out the fire and if they succeed they get money and RP for it.

The point of being online is being interactive and we're not even close to interactive other than listening to little kids yell, streamers who think they're twisted rockstars, and grievers who have nothing better to do than shoot up freeroam in a jet (or now a flying car) yelling how much cooler they are than anyone else because they have a k/d that amounts to nothing.

Wouldn't mind being a mercenary doing solo jobs, with my blips off the radar/map, with the silenced weapons actually being silenced, carrying out hits disguised as your everyday civilian, whether it is NPCs or players, employing advanced technology for my hits. With my employer being an elusive set of people who would want to maintain the status quo on the city.

Transporting super expensive medical supplies to the various in game hospitals/health centers. That or transporting patient samples could work too.

Just watch out for computer AI rivals (not too difficult).

Payments depends on speed and not crashing therefore maintaining specimen/equipment integrity.

All this would have been great before all the OP toys arrived but I still had to vote... cop (or cannon fodder at this point). It would have to be just like the mod LSPDFR but even better though. Anything ĺess would be silly.

Knowing previous GTA games, public service is the closest we can get. Im still waiting to see this. There's so much time i have in free roam while my friend is AFK, why not spend it doing taxi job and so on?
We got these jobs in CEO/MC work part

But knowing me, im down for private service. Let that be elimination contracts, security etc.

I'd be up for legal work...all those crime lords in LS need a defense attorney for the underhanded shenanigans that ensue. You could make a killing....errr, financially.

Failing that I'd consider been the Convenience Store guy...if I could be armed with RPG's and miniguns to deter those poor sods who need to empty the cash register haha.

As others have mentioned, been able to do Taxi jobs would be pretty cool

Taxi, taxi, taxi, taxi. Technically you can already do this, Uber style. I should know, I pay randoms to drive me places when I can't be bothered driving myself. Some people have so much pent-up sexual frustration it makes for an authentic Uber experience.

I do wonder, though, if we did have the option to do Taxi/Cop/Ambulance jobs, would we be automatically immune to other players or would that be part of the challenge?

I'm trying to imagine dodging two Oppressors, a Deluxo, and a fleet of Buzzards and Hydras, all trying to keep me from delivering my fare to the nearest Ponsonby's! lol! :)

^ So even dreaming about some of these jobs being available in closed lobbies is off the table at this point? How we have got to know our R*...

I really can't understand why not even the jobs already in the code in Single player are not available in online (taxi, all those small business jobs etc).

Hell, I would even accept a version of Series A's dumpster job for the beginning, if it meant that R* at least has started making some effort to cater any player interest other than paramilitary griefing hate fests.

OT: Maybe a school bus tour could be fun, including gang attacks and outrunning helicopter parents.

And should one day there be wild life in online, I would love to be caretaker going after redneck poachers (I already alienate my friends by occasionally jumping out of the car and pushing fishermen into the water, for no apparent reason).

I think GTA Online characters would have a good career in the military or any job that requires driving (taxi, bus driving, truck driving, professional racing...).

Skip to 3:00 to see the fast food minigame R* can't design even though it's a 20 year old game concept :p

I loved licking the ketchup bottle, that's hilarious!

Oh, driving jobs for me, certainly. Taxi, bus, limousine, garbage truck, it doesn't matter. I like driving around in games, exploring, and making a little bit of money on the side never hurts. I still don't think this kind of thing would help somebody level up, of course, so no RP, but it makes sense that piecemeal work could serve as a quick cash injection. I still remember running from convenience store to convenience store, robbing them all for chump change while trying to save up for a garage, thinking how much more fun I'd be having if I could just be doing taxi, ambulance, or fire truck missions.

Too, I think it would be pretty fun to have a Saints Row 2-style activities and diversions. From the more action-oriented things like Crowd Control, Escort, and Insurance Fraud to the simpler Hostage and "Ho-ing" activities. Saints Row 4 had a pretty hilarious scene in it in which the player character performs at a strip club with QTEs. With the introduction of the more "gamey" Freemode Events and removal of the old, more freeform activities, I think Online went in the wrong direction.

So, yeah! I would certainly partake in more world interactions, small jobs, and otherwise less "player versus..." activities! Everything from driving a taxi to get a little bit of cash in my pockets to shakin' it at the Unicorn to get a little bit of cash in my g-string. Sounds like fun!

Just... don't remind me of the horrible tedium of Saints Row's "Heli Assault" activity. Even Septic Avenger was better than that...

I'd love to make some money by walking around in the "wilds" of the map, I'd even be a lumberjack if it were possible. I voted for that, but I wouldn't mind the seemingly very popular Taxi-job.
