Too funny, after playing single player on XBOX 360 for years my son finally convinced me to try online. We have had Live for the last 2 years and I never tried GTA Online. After one play I was so hooked I bought an Xbox One and I haven't watched TV for a month. Now my son is pissed because I have blown his character out of the water. I too was around for the modem days playing Doom on private LAN, and to this day still remember many nights playing Counterstrike until 4am kind of like GTA is now. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night to do sell runs and resupplies, especially during the double weeks. I wake up in the morning with a couple million in the bank and I am a happy camper.

 

 

 

Literally, to just be able to keep playing GTAO after 5 years and still revere it as one of my favorite video games of all time (and yes, I was young before there were video games!)

Doom2 multiplayer deathmatch over telephone modems back in the 90s. Mind blowing data transfer rates topping 28.8kb/s.

To get really good games we would take our PCs to one guys house and do a LAN party. Full sized towers with giant monitors.

Man, the late nights playing Shotgun 3 and the H2H series. Good times.

Xbox sucks huh? Don't happen on ps1.

 

Or did you lag a lobby out? Lagging lobby and trying to do a job will give you eternal time in clouds.

 

PS4, no trying to lag out, just normal trying to join online .

I'm so happy when? Good grief, I can't even remember...

 

 

To be fair, I hopped online for a bit yesterday, resprayed my Chino, did one of the new Deluxo races (which was okay, I guess...), and then took a leisurely drive home before exiting the game - and just enjoying the scenery and the open road (plus swerving to knock NPCs off their bikes, because I'm childish and mean-spirited like that ) did remind me of the simple pleasures of the game, even with all the recent issues and nonsense.

Singleplayer is outright rich with different kinds of wildlife, which I imagine is why people always want some of that ambience in Online.

 

Meanwhile, the only wildlife you'll find in Online are automobiles and humans.

That's basically an every day thing for everyone at this point..even on console. No one is safe anymore.
