GTAKid667
Games For Windows Live Restrictions The PC Version of Grand Theft Auto IV uses Games For Windows Live which restricts players of the game to only being able to load Save Files they've created themselves. This means that an unmodified version of Grand Theft Auto IV would not allow you to be able to load any Save File that was created or downloaded elsewhere and as such would render the concept of a Chain Game impossible. XLiveLess is a modification that enables support for loading Save Files that were created by other users, and all players of the Chain Game are required to have the modification installed in order to participate as this will allow them to be able to load the save file submitted by the previous player of the game. It's easy to install XLiveLess! All users of Grand Theft Auto IV on PC can download the modification here. This file differs from the download provided in the official thread as it has been modified to enable support for versions of the game higher than Patch 1.0.7.0. Any user running Patch 1.0.7.0 or lower should have no issue with downloading the file from the offical XLiveLess Thread, though users who have a higher patch installed may find that using that file they're unable to load some of the Save Files used throughout the round. Thanks to Parik for providing an updated version of the modification to allow support for all game versions. Once downloaded, unpack the .rar archive and move the xlive.dll file to your Grand Theft Auto IV Directory. You should now be able to load any Grand Theft Auto IV PC Save File! Important Information XLiveLess comes with additional functionality and changes several features of the game, the most important of which are listed below. For a full list of additions and changes refer to the XLiveLess Thread. All Online Functionality is disabled while the modification is installed to prevent cheating in Multiplayer. Users who want to play some Online Multiplayer outside of Chain Game Turns can simply move the xlive.dll out of their directory and then move it back in when they're ready to take turns. Save Files are now located at `%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames` instead of `%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames`. Any previous Save Files created before XLiveLess was installed will remain in the folder in AppData. Saving over any Save File you have previously created before XLiveLess was installed while using XLiveLess will prevent the Save File from being loadable if XLiveLess is later removed from your Grand Theft Auto IV Directory. Thanks to listener for creating the XLiveLess Modification. cryptorelic, thehambone, Rikka and 3 others 6 Meet the GTA 3 players who've spent a decade playing pass-the-pad to 100% the game | GamesRadar
GTAKid667
Chain Game Announcement The Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M80K51DosFo Today, 29th April 2018, marks 10 Years since Grand Theft Auto IV was first released for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Many users of GTAForums, myself included, will remember when this game was first released and share many memories of playing the game over the years. I can say personally that I have enjoyed every time I have loaded up Grand Theft Auto IV and have a great collection of memories of this great game, from completing the story multiple times on multiple platforms to playing multiplayer for hours on end, and I have no doubt many of you also share such memories. The Chain Game continues to be successful in the Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas forums and this year I wanted to do something a little different with the game and test new possibilities and venture in new directions the game is yet to go. I have received a great amount of feedback from both Chain Game Players and GTAForums Users over the years about what they would like to see from the Chain Game, and something that is commonly suggested is the idea of bringing the Chain Game to newer installments of the Grand Theft Auto Series. With 2018 marking 10 Years of Grand Theft Auto IV being released, it made sense for this to be the time to act on that request and so here we start a one-off special Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game that has been planned and worked on behind the scenes over the last few months. I'd like to thank several members of the Chain Game Community that have made this possible: 123robot - Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game Assistant Chief who has supported the game throughout the development stages, contributing ideas and regularly giving feedback. Parik - Developed a version of the XLiveLess Modification that supports Patch 1.0.8.0, allowing anyone running this version of Grand Theft Auto IV is able to participate in the Chain Game. Parik has also supported the game throughout the development stages, contributing ideas and feedback. Samutz - Creator of GTASnP.com, an easy to use GTA Save File Sharing Website which is used regularly by Chain Game Players to upload the save files used in each turn of the game. Samutz and the GTASnP.com Website has helped the Chain Game immeasurably and we are extremely grateful for this service and the years of dedication Samutz has put into running it. slohbur - Created the Chain Game Graphics that have been used throughout the Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game Rounds, Lounge and Index. Th3MaN1 - Supported the game throughout the development stages, contributing ideas, regularly giving feedback and assisted in creating the Chain Game Rules. thehambone - Developed a tool that reads a save file and displays the remaining Flying Rats in the game with descriptions of their locations shown on a map of Liberty City. thehambone has also supported the game throughout the development stages, contributing ideas, feedback and assisted in creating the Chain Game Rules. TubewayArmy - Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game Deputy Chief who has supported the game throughout the development stages, contributing ideas, regularly giving feedback and working on producing the Chain Game Graphics. It is strongly advised that all players take the time to read through our brand new Opening Posts, but for convenience I will list some of the most important things to keep in mind below: Turn Time Limit - The Chain Game Turn Time Limit is 3 Hours Wait Rules - The Chain Game Wait Rules between turns are 2 Missions or a 4 Hour Period Limits - You can complete up to one Story Mission or Assassination, one Random Encounter and as many Side Activities as you wish Missions with Player Choice - It is free for the player to make the decision Two Part Missions - The first part of these missions are an exception to the One Named Mission Rule and can be completed with the second part or another Named Mission Phone Activated Missions - The player may complete any Phone Activated Mission except "A Revenger's Tragedy" in addition to another Named Mission Other Exceptions - 'Ransom' and 'Mr and Mrs Bellic' are both exceptions to the One Named Mission Rule and can be completed in addition to another Named Mission For now, this is considered to be a one-off round and so there are no current plans for a second round of the game, but if the demand is there and everyone enjoys playing, you can start expecting the Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game as a permanent addition to the Chain Game family later in the year. So join us as we celebrate 10 Years of Grand Theft Auto IV and start taking turns! The Chain Game on Twitter The Chain Game now has a Twitter Account @GTAChainGame. As with the Discord Server and Steam Group, the Twitter Account will provide regular updates on new Chain Game Round Launches and important Chain Game Announcements. All players of the Chain Game and members of the GTAForums Community that use Twitter can follow the account to keep up to date with the latest Chain Game Developments. iguana, Rikka, TubewayArmy and 4 others 7 Meet the GTA 3 players who've spent a decade playing pass-the-pad to 100% the game | GamesRadar
GTAKid667
I'd just like to again thank everyone for playing and joining in with the first ever round of the Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game. I had been looking forward to launching the game for a while and kept it as quiet as I could from all players of other Chain Games except for the people who assisted with the development of the game (although a few of those only found out days before!), it was great to bring out the surprise and absolutely awesome to see the kind of response we got! Here are some highlights from my turns that I've saved. A full playlist of all Chain Game clips I've recorded out of my own or other players turns can be found at and full archives of my turns will be able to be found at playlist once the playlist is updated for the current round. Highlights from GTA IV Chain Game Round 1 And regular viewers of my streams may also remember another great moment in the round where I played Pool against Little Jacob, who unbelievably had poorer Pool Skills than Michelle! How is that even possible?! GTAKid667
When I launched the Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game back in April, I wasn't sure what the reaction was going to be like or whether anyone would participate. Initially Round 1 was intended as a one-off round to determine the interest for a Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game and to do something new and exciting for the Chain Game Community based on several requests we've had over the years. As I mentioned in a previous announcement here, there'd be strong consideration of introducing the game as a permanent addition to the Chain Game Family alongside the Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas games should we see that interest, and I'm really glad to confirm that there definitely was a lot of interest! Round 1 was very enjoyable for both myself and several other players I have heard from and there was a huge amount of positivity and support for the Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game that was received, which I appreciate a lot and thank everyone who took the time to pass on kind messages and those who participated. We gained new players, had contributions from a wide range of existing players, and overall had a really good time following which we held a Multiplayer Event in May. Anyone that is interested in how we got along can check out my playlist, or the videos of two game modes we played below: I'm sticking to the promise that I made and as several players will now know already, the Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game is here to stay. We'll be launching Round 2 of the Chain Game Monday 10th September in the morning of the BST Timezone (tomorrow morning!) and hope to see many people join in and have fun in Liberty City once again, including listening to some of the classics of IV's Large Soundtrack Sorviknight, Parik, thehambone and 2 others 5 Meet the GTA 3 players who've spent a decade playing pass-the-pad to 100% the game | GamesRadar

It was also nice to see support for the game from those who have not participated in the Chain Game before, including forum members JPFL and Prayag 97 who were regular viewers of some of the Chain Game streams. There were some more clips produced throughout the round from my turns including the following, and these have been added to the collection of clips from all Chain Games in my Chain Game Livestreams Playlist. We'll be taking another break with IV Chain Game Rounds for the time being, but you can expect a 4th trip to Liberty City later in the year. GTAKid667
Yesterday we hosted a Grand Theft Auto IV Multiplayer Event and were joined by several members of the community as we spent a few hours enjoying the various game modes that the game has to offer. We played through a Deathmatch, several Races and a lengthy session of Mafiya Work, all of which were great fun! As with our previous Multiplayer Event back in 2018, the full event was recorded and I have created a playlist featuring both short clips from throughout the event as well as full length footage of the game modes we played. I've also split up the clips into two seperate playlists, one for clips and one for game modes, to easily browse through one or the other. Here are a couple of videos from the playlists above, showing one of our races and the session of Mafiya Work: HectorOConner also streamed his perspective of the event, with additional commentary in Polish that can be viewed below: And thehambone streamed his perspective too, which also showcases some of the fun that an outdated multiplayer service can provide in 2020 (and actual fun, too!): I'd like to thank @thehambone for organising the event with me, and @HectorOConner, @MrMateczko, @resbas and @Th3MaN1 for joining in! Unfortunately connectivity issues with Games For Windows Live meant that we couldn't quite get everyone who wanted to participate involved, but we were still able to go on and have a great session, and we hope to host more Multiplayer Events in the future (with fewer issues getting everyone connected)! resbas, Th3MaN1, Prayag 97 and 3 others 6 Meet the GTA 3 players who've spent a decade playing pass-the-pad to 100% the game | GamesRadar

GTAKid667
Chain Game Announcement! As we head into the 25th December across the world, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all members of the community a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Whether you celebrate or not, I hope that you all have a great next few weeks as we come towards the end of 2021. A New Chain Game Lounge As our community has continued to develop and expand in the last few years, we've been taking the time to review all aspects of the Chain Game in an effort to ensure that it is the best it can possibly be to serve the needs of the community while also being simpler to understand and be involved with. As detailed in previous announcements, some of the efforts we have made so far have included the simplification of our opening posts, reducing clutter and unnecessary sections, and rewriting rules so that they are easier to understand while not taking multiple sentences to explain. One of the biggest changes to our community in recent years has been the launch of the Chain Game Discord Server which, along with the Steam Group and Twitter Page introduced around the same time, has worked to bring together the communities of the Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and IV Chain Game in one shared space which has been used for discussion, receiving the latest updates on the games, and participating in group events. In addition to this, all three games are now ran by the same staff team, share the same base for the opening posts and rules, and are mostly played by the same players. The Chain Game has very much been working towards being one big community, as opposed to multiple smaller communities. This has all led us to consider whether it continues to be necessary to have a Chain Game Lounge for each individual game when the communities have come together and with the increasing frequency of updates we share being applicable to multiple games. Having a separate place for each game fragments discussion, makes it harder for us as staff to share updates on events we run that do not strictly apply to a specific game, and leads to multiple quieter topics that will only increase as we'd be forced to create new Lounge topics for any new Chain Game we may launch in the future. We have therefore decided that we are going to create a new Chain Game Lounge. This will be a single place that will benefit the community and the outside world in a way that the current topics are not able to provide. One of the immediate benefits will be having a place we can direct people to that informs them of what the Chain Game is and what rounds we are currently running, which is not information you can really receive in one place directly without having to do additional research. It would also provide us with somewhere we can keep a list of Frequently Asked Questions, so that members of the community and those wanting to join will be able to read through and keep in mind additional information that may be useful but not vital enough for the opening posts of the rounds. Above all else though, the new Chain Game Lounge will continue to work exactly like the current Lounges do, as a place you can ask questions, share feedback, raise concerns, chat with other players, and receive updates on the community as a whole and the developments we are making behind the scenes. We feel that this decision will make it simpler for us all to know where to go when we need to ask a question or read about the latest updates, and we hope that you all agree and feel you'll still have a place to use in the way you've been using the existing Lounges. As a result of this change, the Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game Lounge will close on the 31st December 2021. The new thread, "The Chain Game Lounge", will launch in the Classic GTA III section on the 1st January 2022. As the Chain Games are split across multiple forums, we plan to have the Lounge in the forum of an active Chain Game at all times, with redirect links set up in other forums when there are multiple games. When a new announcement is posted, it will now also be mentioned in the form of a topic banner above any active round that is relevant to the posted announcement, and it will also continue to be mentioned in our Discord and Steam Groups. If you have any questions about this change, you are welcome to leave a comment below or contact a member of the staff team. Note that this change does not affect the GTA San Andreas Chain Game Lounge, which is maintained by a different team. Thank you to the 16 people who responded after we asked for feedback earlier this month on the proposal to create a new Chain Game Lounge: Arsen Vitiuk, BroomstickFanatic, Bunneyko, ChumCrumpet, Chyea, cryptorelic, cuban gang member, DEALUX, Earthbound, Miles Edgeworth, MrMateczko, Mulyadi, resbas, Sidaredd, Th3MaN1 and TheBulaPsycho. Closing Words As we head into 2022, I am optimistic that next year will be a great one for the community with plenty of plans already in place to ensure that we all have a great time. It has been nice to see some new and returning players recently and I hope to see them stick around for many rounds to come. Thank you all for continuing to support and be a part of the Chain Game. GTAKid667
Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game Lounge Complete! After 3 years and 8 months, it's time to say goodbye to the Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game Lounge. Used by 8 participants, the Lounge was the place for members of the community to discuss the game with each other, ask questions, raise concerns, and keep up to date with the latest news and updates from the Chain Game Staff. It was also a place for members of the wider GTAForums community to post if they were interested in the Chain Game and were thinking about joining in with the game themselves. We're now closing the curtains for a final time as we prepare to move over to a brand new thread, a new Chain Game Lounge that unites the communities of three different Chain Games together in one place. It will serve the same purpose as this Lounge has for the last 3 years, while providing the opportunity to keep up to date with the development of the Chain Game outside of Grand Theft Auto IV as we continue to expand our community further. Thank you to all 8 participants who have used the Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game Lounge. I have always cared deeply about the Lounge and having a place to interact with the community outside of the rounds themselves, and I hope to see you all participate in the new Lounge in the years to come. It wouldn't be the conclusion to a chapter of the Chain Game without presenting a range of statistics! The Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game Lounge was created on 29th April 2018 and in total ran for 1342 days, 3 hours and 0 minutes - 1,932,660 minutes in total. We've used that time to have several great discussions... Launching the Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game was a special occasion in itself, with a group of contributors coming together to put everything together quicker than originally planned. We only decided to run one round at first, not being sure of how it would be received by players, but after it being a major success the game became a permanent addition to the family. Some of the fun we've had during turns has even been broadcast to the public, which naturally means that clips showcasing some of the very best skills from our experienced players surface and get posted for the enjoyment of everyone. IT'S A GOOD JOB WE HAVE MICHELLE TO SHOW US HOW TO REALLY PLAY POOL. The fun we've had in the Grand Theft Auto IV Chain Game hasn't just been during the rounds. Several players came together in 2018 to enjoy a session of Multiplayer, which also resulted in a range of clips, in which we worked together for Kenny Petrovic before splitting into teams of Cops and Crooks in a competitive match. It was so fun we had another session in 2020 to mark the end of Games For Windows Live (GFWL). Unfortunately for some of our players, it seemed that GFWL was one step ahead of us and already decided to it was ready to close down for an unlucky few, making them unable to connect to the rest of us for the fun we had over the course of a couple of hours. There'll be more multiplayer fun where all of that came from. Hmm... 2018, 2020... I'm sensing a pattern! Breaking down the numbers Between the 8 participants of the Lounge, a total of 27 posts were made. GTAKid667 made the most contributions with 14 posts. The following are the 3 highest contributors to posts in the Lounge: GTAKid667 - 14 Sorviknight - 4 ChumCrumpet - 4 2021 was the most popular year of the Lounge when a total of 11 posts were made. The following are the 3 years where most posts were made: 2021 - 11 2018 - 8 2019 - 4 We can't forget about the posts that didn't get to experience what the dream feels like! A total of 2 invalid posts from 1 participant have been removed from the Lounge. Sometimes we speak before we think, and sometimes it's better that our thoughts are kept to ourselves. The first non-staff poster to use the Lounge was Corndawg93, and the final non-staff poster was cuban gang member. Statistics Table It has been a fun 3 years, and I look forward to plenty more fun in the new Chain Game Lounge.
