A change that should be made for the Festive Surprise 2018 Update

I thought I would make this thread because I want to see if other people see me eye to eye with this idea

Ofc there will always be those guys who say "huhhhhh keep it rare!"

 

I am sure many of you are familiar with R*s latest trend with the FS Update, where R* will hand out free rare T-Shirts.

This gives players the opportunity to obtain T-Shirts that they may not have had the chance to get. For me I have almost all the Rare T-Shirts, over the past two years, I have obtained most of the ones I was missing (mostly from weeks I didn't log on.)

 

I think R* should change this and put a new award in place, other than the T-Shirts. I think R* should give away hats and masks this year. I am sure MANY players are missing many hats and masks from updates, and many players aren't that interested in shirts as they aren't that special in terms of a cosmetic item (or good looking). This would open up the opportunity for players to get a few beer hats and maybe some of the extremely rare lowriders hats that were introduced for one day each, maybe even the stocking mask and etc. I know many will be saying this is ruining the rarity of these items, but I had plenty of rare shirts that were just given away in the past years and to be quite honest, I don't give a f*ck. Things can only be rare for so long, as with the case of the Roosevelt and Tommy Gun. Besides, to a degree, these items still remain pretty rare because for the past two years, you could only log on and receive 3 T-Shirts for 3 days (1 each day). Yes, you can choose which one you want by quitting your application if you don't like the shirt, but people who still need rare shirts like that haven't been playing for long. They probably don't even know that method to begin with. I would really like to see this change. It would open a new window of opportunity for many players to get really cool cosmetic items. I'm really interested in hearing other peoples thoughts.

 

I personally don't own any of the beer hats so this is definitely something that would appeal to me. I know a lot of people that were disappointed in the fact that the beer hats did not arrive in the 2016 and 2017 independence day update.

 

Edit: Yes, before people comment, I am aware that it might be a little too early to discuss this but I am anyways.

 

 

EDIT2: Looking back, I just thought of this...

R* should also let us keep the Christmas clothing. They let us keep the Halloween clothing, why not the Christmas clothing? I have always been so confused with R*'s logic behind that.

R* should have more of those event days. I just think there either lazy or dont care. We just had the 420 event great day to log in for the shirt or parachute bag. July 4 could get beer hats and so on. Seems that they finally fixed special crate drops and took em away for new events. Theres a lot of special days around the world they could use for lil event giveaways but sadly I dont think they care about it due to no scam card sales

In a world of GTA online so little things are considered rare that I think it will be a good decision not to make the list shorter. As the matter of fact, we need more rare stuff in the game.

this. Theres 365 days in the year, there is always some Holliday or event that they could use as a time for some new clothing or item or weapon giveaway. Either by logging in or by bringing back special crates like they used to do for event weekends. I mean T-shirts hats or outfits cant b that hard to do with a lil creativity

just gonna say that over the years, many of us have spend the time making sure we get our hands on this time limited "rare" items, the last thing we need is R* handing out this items to every normie.

npcs have a lot of really cool shirts and hats that are not available to us, they could take those npc shirts and give them to us, it cant be that hard.

Cinco de mayo coming thin Saturday. Mariachi outfit/hat already in game. Add a limited time guitar as a melee weapon same as the baseball bat that when hit makes a broken guitar sound make a couple dm/Lts matches and boom. Cinco de mayo event weekend wasnt that hard but its a change up from week after week of what we get now

Keep them rare. R* keep making all things that were rare obtainable like many vehicles. It ruins the fun for collectors like me, can't have everything.

They have made the list shorter and shorter, once the Roosevelt was rare then they made it available again and that's one less rare car I had. Same with the Romeo hearse, that was rare until MC. They shouldn't have made rare street vehicles less rare either, I spent about 2 days searching for a Sabre Turbo and another 2 days searching for a Sultan only for them to be able to be purchased.

 

There should be more rare items, more rare street cars, more limited time only purchases, more ridiculously expensive items, items stuck behind research (however nothing that gives any advantage) etc. but for that to work they need to combat glitches which ruin this.

I like the rare stuff being really rare, not just hard to get, so i like the way R* did the beer hats (i dont own a single one btw). The one thing i'd like is if they could charge us for the festive stuff like masks, that way we could wear them year round.

I do miss the old bits from early on I unlocked on the old account that got ruined, but I liked the idea of getting a few bits like this through unlocking or popping on to collect things up.

Only rare thing I have at this point is Dev shirts and the High Flyer parachute.

 

I have no idea how I got the dev shirts, I just logged in one day 2 or 3 years ago and was rewarded them. I was on PS4 at the time so I didn't do anything to obtain them illegitimately.

Can't be. I remember playing in 2016 on the PS3, and there were still no special crate drops containing beer hats. They stopped it altogether. Even if there still was beer hat drops on last gen, can't they just bring it to current gen where there's supposed to be more content? It just makes no f*cking sense.

Unfortunately, that will never happen. Rockstar deleted the scripts and lines of code from the game that enable crate drops. So not only are they disabled, but they are completely removed. I doubt they will ever make a return. I do miss the thrill of hunting down crate drops in public lobbies. Good times.
