This is a big question coming from me because i know so many people enjoyed the original OST to the game , but do any of you enjoy any of the new songs that were added yesterday from the newest patch?

 

Yes it's very depressing to GTA IV fans , especially those from day one release back in 08, but unfortunately Rockstar was too lazy to just renew the licences & instead add in new songs ... even though they just made 6 Billion off of GTAO.

 

But anyways i wanted to hear everyone's opinion on this new patch & of course the new songs.

 

Me personally i have no problem with it now because i have GTA IV on 360 & never use internet on that system so yeah , but if i wanted to i could update my PS3 version just to hear some of the new songs.

 

I've heard some of the new songs though mostly being on the radio station Vladivostok FM & all i got to say is meh..

Listened to few new songs, they all sound like

to me, if I got to be honest. They don't have charm of the original Vladivostok, which was pretty cheesy, but it fit the atmosphere of Liberty City and the story we were following. This, it's meh, pretty forgettable and bland, just like GTA V's soundtrack in general.

My biggest problem is related to Liberty Rock Radio, since that's one I've been listening the most. No Smashing Pumpkins, Bowie, Maiden, AC/DC, The Doors... Come on, R* just took most of what made GTA IV's soundtrack solid, especially in TLaD. Took its identity, castrated it.

I'm glad I own both digital and physical copy of GTA IV, so if I decide to revisit the game, I will be able to play the original full version.

Not really. It's like playing GTA IV with your own music in the MP3 folder. It just doesn't feel the same and ruins the experience for me.

Some of the songs are ok-ish on their own, but they took away some of Vladivostok FM's "style", it used to be a station focused on Eastern European Rock/Pop/Rap, now there's even a country song, which doesn't really fit Liberty City's atmosphere.

They're quite OK in my opinion, but I still prefer the original Vladivostok.

Yeah especially the new songs that were added that are from 2010, 2013.... Meanwhile the games year is 2008 so now it feels like the game is traveling into time

I heard the new songs on YouTube, and I personally think they're fine and somewhat catchy, but I can't help but feel disappointed with the removal of the quite proportionate bulk of songs on the soundtrack. LRR is one of my favourites and losing Bowie, 1979, Edge of Seventeen, and Heaven and Hell is very disconcerting as a massive fan of these songs and how they represent and mold within the games atmosphere.

 

If this is all Rockstar going to give us with the forthcoming anniversary then it is very disappointing especially for loyal fans of the game who are craving to see Rockstar at least acknowledge it with respect. Fingers crossed for something in the future, but it might be GTAO related instead.

Unfortunately, yes:

  • "C'est la Vie" by Robbie Nevil

  • "History" by Mai Tai

  • "Teardrops" by Womack & Womack

  • "Wood Beez (Pray like Aretha Franklin)" by Scritti Politti

  • "You're the Voice" by John Farnham

Some of my favorite songs were cut. C'est la Vie and History in particular are big losses.

I f*cking love the new songs on Vladivostok FM. If they kept Wild Dances and that green eyed taxi one it would be lit af, but oh well. At least we got some bops like this:

All i can say is grab a 360/ps3 on ebay a copy of gta4 or eflc is crazy cheap on amazon i paid £1.96 + p and p for gta4 on 360, game is immaculate with all inserts, looks like its never been played. i also picked up my 360 for £6.86 as i was the only bidder :) then you wont have to worry about the crap new songs
