How would you explain Gtao to someone?

Is it just me or would it be some what difficult to try to explain what Gtao is to someone who has not played it. It could even be difficult trying to explain it to someone who is familiar with the GTA series and how the games work without rambling on and on and sounding like a crazy person. There are several ways to play, but what would be the best way you could actually sell the game to someone?

This day and age I would either play it for them while showcasing and explaining..or video clips online

But to explain 1st you would kind of need to explain what GTA is as a franchise and game, then explain the online version of it....its an online freeroam game with side games, co-op and PvP...you earn in game cash through jobs and challenges which you can use to customize, improve your character, weaponry and overall criminal empire. While also being able to own things like planes, boats and sportscars.

you would need to explain GTA 1st

"It's a bad videogame designed to make people angry enough to spend real money."

-literally how I described it to my mother when she asked

You can drive around a beautifully rendered world in a beautifully detailed car to see beautifully detailed NPCs whie listening to a great selection of music on your radio. Otherwise take a bike and calmly stroll through the fictional land of Los Santos, or perhaps, wear your swimsuit that you bought from the several clothing shops around the game and take a dip in the ocean open to you from all corners. Maybe even by a scuba suit for some diving and exploration. How about a flight from one end to the other to watch gracefully the lights of the city in the middle of the night or the calm quietness of the desert regions of Blaine County. Take a friend or two while your at it and play some golf or darts in a bar then catch a hilariously written movie...

Or you could do like 90% of the players do and ride your flying rocket bike to attack the guy with the rail-gun tank or the 5th dude in this session running around in a joker costume.

I'd make them watch all the trailers and a tonne of gameplay videos, and then when they're all hyped I'd tell them to dial it down to about 4 so they don't end up disappointed.

Hmm. Like life, but ragier

You work 24-7, doing the same sh*t, and get your pockets picked at every turn. People you can't touch micromanage you and your co workers are incompetent or assholes, or a healthy mix of both. All the things you work for, you won't have time to enjoy because your too busy working. But, if you know how to play the game, with just a little luck, in the end you'll come out ahead

Unknown network error, files needed could not be downloaded, what else..

Hope you like clouds

I can describe buying a shark card with this quote:

"It's like you nut in someone's ear and the next day he's walking around and nobody actually knows that there's nut in his ear, but you do".

Verbal Soze

It's an online game where you can kill each other, participating in a race where most of the players will ram you over, playing a story kind of missions in a mode called heists with bad matchmaking, network error and trolls or indulge yourself in a luxury and vain collections of cars and planes which you will barely use

And don't forget that tedious grinding to earn that lousy payout

That's GTAO

What the Purge would be like if you could carry a rocket launcher.

Dr.Rosenthal

I still dont understand why none of my IRL friends like this game, but I have a few theories:

1. Some of them think of it as CoD, that its an action game foremost. Too little strategy for their tastes. And they also have this false notion that only 13-year olds are playing it.

2. Some have tried and just dont think its very fun. Theyre often referring to getting blown to sh*t by jets and rocketbikes and the like, and how they dont see the point in playing.

3. Some admit that its too difficult. I like when people can admit that.

Granted, most of my friends suck at gaming. I hand them the controller, let them drive an easy car and they just cant do it but crash at every turn.

But it still puzzles me that they cant see the greatness in this game. Or take another friend as an example; hes rank 80 and weve played together a bit. Ive helped him make money, Ive recommended him to buy the Viseris which he did, and the Nightblade - hes a Muscle car/Biker kind of guy. I want him to enjoy the game like I do, but it seems impossible.

If he gets killed its like he just draws a deep breath and wants to give up and turn off the game, and Im like Dude! You just got an opportunity to get revenge on that asshole! At the very least, accept its an online game and just get f*cking better at it.

He plays Far Cry 5 instead now, which I dont understand at all. I tried flying a helicopter there and the controls f*cking sucked. The AI in GTA is pretty sh*tty, but in FC5 which is 5 years newer, its sh*t as well. 9/10 enemies are running sideways in front of you, taking cover behind stuff while being in clear sight of the player.. I could go on.

And theres not even real players around to shoot at! Now join my GTA session and well have Avengers, Hunters, Akulas, Half-tracks, Insurgents, tanks, flying bikes and submarine cars all at our disposal with the click of a button! Its fun as f*ck! Or we could just roleplay and explore this magnificent world!

And those people thinking GTA is too little strategy and too much action - sure, it might look like it, but we all know theres more strategy to this than meets the eye.

Anyway. Tbh Ive gotten sick of explaining the greatness of this game to people who dont understand. Theyll never understand and I mostly just feel sorry for them for missing out on one of the best multiplayer experiences to date.

Edit: Sorry about the wall of text, but Ive thought quite a bit about this lately. My short answer to the OP would be that I wouldnt try and explain it but rather demonstrate either in real time or by using videos.

I think most casual players see the game as a grind and it really is. No one wants to play for hours and hours just to buy 1 car. Just to put missiles on a vigilante it cost a damn fortune. You need to buy a bunker and moc just for the damn missiles. Even for gun upgrades, you need the bunker, moc, tons of research. Just to get the discount price on the oppressor you need a bunker, moc, you need to do x amount of supply runs and all this just to unlock the mission you need to play to get the discount price and after all that you still need to do fkn research to unlock the missiles. The game is fkn retarted. A 3.5 mill vehicle turns into a 5-6 mill vehicle with many hours lost. Rockstar has zero communication with their fans and offers basically zero support. Not to mention the tons and tons of bugs.

If you dont have an established account the game is just not much fun.
