Why no love for the Families?

I've seen a bunch of vehicle and clothing customization, and even brass knuckle customization, referencing the Ballas and the Vagos, but there's nothing that lets you represent the main gang of the original San Andreas game, the Grove Street Families. Or even the Families present in game. I recently bought a Voodoo Custom, and there was a customization option for the back window that said "Vagos", but there was no "Families". The brass knuckles has a "Ballas" skin option. Sure, you can buy some green clothes, paint your vehicles green, all the basic stuff, but there is very little in terms of representing the Families. Some of the Job missions have Ballas, Vagos, and other gangs as enemies, but there are none with the Families involved in anyway. Excluding Gerald and Lamar.

 

We need some throwback stuff for Grove Street here, R*. I want to roll down the street in my Voodoo with a green neon light in the back that says "Families", or a little CJ bobble head for my dash, or F rims that spin. Something that lets me show love for my favorite crew in the series.

When it comes to gangs, Rockstar lacks creativity. Never cared for the Families, and GTA 5 made them an even bigger joke than they already were.

The answer is simple, the focus was always on the online mode of this game. I feel like SP was just like a movie of sorts and a precursor to where they really wanted people to be.

If you think about it, online has the option to make or join a gang. You can be a lone wolf too but it's better to run with friends to be able to get sh*t easier.

The simplest answer is that GTAIV and GTAV take place in a separate continuity from GTAIII, Vice City and San Andreas.

 

In our current universe, it just so happens that the Ballas and Vagos are the big gangs of Los Santos and the Families aren't much. Small time at best, as the scale of what we get up to with Lamar and Gerald illustrates when compared to the real big league sh*t that comes after.

yh we do need a biker DLC and some more love for Grove Street....but you can represent quite well now (compared to launch)

No love for the the families because the families don't have love for themselves. The OGs would be so disappointed if they saw what happened to Grove St. And the Families don't even try to fight back either, which is far worse in my opinion. All that progress earned back in the day for what? OG Loc's rap career?

 

Like SuperHomie above, I've definitely done my part to rep for Grove St via the plethora of green clothing options. I don't do it for the weaksause youngins but out of respect for the real OGs who put Grove St on the map. To keep the spirit of San Andreas alive.

It's somewhat of a duty to cruise through the old stomping grounds showing your colors, parade your cars around and stir things up over there. Drive-by, ambush, whatever. Whenever there's an in game mission against the Vagos or Ballas or some other crime element, via Heists, Lamar, Contact missions or otherwise, I'm happy to put on the green bandana and let it rip. There's something special about doing these territorial quests while draped in Grove St Green.

 

But I hear you though OP, we need more than apparel and painting your car green. It would be nice to see Rockstar give Grove Street the same options they've given the Ballas and the Vagos. I'd also enjoy taking over neighborhoods or recruiting and training NPCs to lead a new wave of conquests. But in the meantime, it's fun to rep through the means we currently have access to. My secondary works for Los Aztecas as the son of Cesar Vialpando, but he definitely flies the green flag for the OGs when possible.

Whenever I play SP director mode I usually choose a families member and take back Grove St lol just wish I could recruit some mans to ride with me.

We work for families but if you fire a weapon in their area they also try to hunt you down like any other different gang do.

For me personally I felt GTA SA gave the Families all it needed to make the fan favourites list.

 

In terms of GTA Online, I f*cking hate the Families. All they do is shoot at me for no reason. I'd murder all of the c*cksuckers myself if I could.

In story mode at least they defend Franklin against cops if wanted level is lower than 3 and mostly don't shoot franklin if he fires a gun.

In online they act like Ballas.

A question that's never been answered to my satisfaction is why doesn't the Grove Street gang occupy Grove St. itself? The Grove Street gang controls Chamberlain hills to the north, while Grove St. and surrounds is occupied by the Ballas.

 

This little hiccup or geographic faux pas has never been explained, and suggests that Rockstar don't give a rat's a** about the minor gang control characteristics of the game.

The gang has lost significant influence since 1991, they are underrepresented as they are the smallest gang out of the original 3 circa 2017.

 

That was my take on it. My online character doesn't affiliate with any gangs except Martin's at any rate

It's clear logic, gta online character is no one from an airplane for them, when Franklin lived there since birth. Like you can't just put green hood on yourself and pretend you're part of Families.

Isn't there also some "bleet" or "life invader" post from either a pro basketball player or in-game celebrity associated with Ballas that says something like "thanks for giving us the Grove St." Probably could have looked before posting I suppose....

Regardless of settings, there is no reason why there is no "Families" related stuff like there is for the Ballas and Vagos. It's like making a new Saints Row and not having any throwback to the Saints.

It would be nice if we got a Take Back the Grove Lamar mission set similar to Lowriders, only this time the update is more Gang themed..

 

We haven't gotten anything with Lamar and Gerald(Or Martin apart from Crapversary spamming.... I think his phone got a virus or something) in years! It'd be nice to help out the character who brought us to Los Santos.

I read through the list of Gang Attacks for Online, and the only Ballas one was removed. A few Vagos, Aztecas, etc. And a Families one, for some reason. You do work for the Families but you can shoot them up in a gang attack.
