Srsly tho theres no GTA title set in 70s but 2 London expansion packs set in 60s. Face it, we need 70s!

But then i'd like it to be a spin-off rather than main title of the series, but then again radio stations would lack music genres variety and game would only appeal to a smaller audience...

So what do you want for a 70s GTA game? All the good things that Driver Parallel Lines offered plus more content and features? Anything else?

BTW maybe include a radio station in which Karlheinz Stockhausen's music is played and also Kraftwerk in a pop station

Probable genres: Reggae, Hard Rock, Rock('n'Roll), Punk, Funk, Jazz, Blues, Country, Soul, R&B, Latin(o), maybe Rap (if 1977 or 1979) but why not also classical?

Share you opinions!

Any GTA in the 70s should be set in late 70s Liberty City. It's perfect for GTA.

Altho LC is overused i'd like to see R* correct DPL mistakes and maybe add its wanted system or combination of DPL and GTAV wanted system. Also Taxi and Police customisation, so in that case either 1977 or 1979 as first part of DPL is set in 1978 already unless devs and publisher(s) of the game dont mind be set in '78

But then also add *Chicago* and/or *Philadelphia* and/or *Boston*

And pagers like in GTAVCS

Who ever chose Las Venturas needs to revote, cause the Mafia started in Las Venturas like in the 80's by GTA Wiki.

GTA wiki gets stuff wrong and is run by idiots.

A game set in Las Venturas during the 70's influenced by the movie Casino would be awesome.

MARKUS.

Previous post opened my eyes. What about a GTA based on the Gambetti operations in some casinos in Las Venturas? If it's set on the early 70s Jon Gravelli could be the main character (He was around Michael's age in that time)

I'd like LC, SF or LV set in the 70s.

LC would probably be run by the Italian mob, with some presence from the Irish mob, biker gangs, early street gangs, and maybe even the African American mob (something like Frank Lucas' or Nicky Barnes' mob) and even the Russian mob (I've heard somewhere that a small wave of Russian immigrants came to NY in the 70s,including some gangsters),NY was full of crime in the 70s and early 80s.

If the setting is in SF,it would probably focus on Asian gangs like triads and yakuza, and would probably feature Angels Of Death (in TLAD they're said to be from SF,and would probably be featured since the 70s were a golden age of biker gangs).

In LV,the focus would definitely be on the Italian mob running casinos.

No matter what location, there would definitely be a lot of cool vehicles (classic muscle cars, classic sports cars, big boxy classic sedans, old school chopper bikes, old Triumphs, UJM bikes, some older cars and bikes from 50s and 60s...), and a great soundtrack (classic 70s pop, classic rock, early heavy metal, soul, funk, disco, maybe some early punk rock...).

SF and LV. PC only master race, so voted for "Other".

SF in the 70-ies, only imagine... I bet we'll get Herbie ;)

And as the previous poster said - all these other amazing cars!

I picked LV, SF, LS, LC, and VC, plus you should add North Yankton. It would make a huge map which would be awesome (if Just Cause 2, an 8 year old game could do it, I'm guessing a 2019-2020 game could too?).

It should be a main title, not a spin-off, to be honest.

Sadly, you didn't add Consoles and PC as an option (all including PC would make it for phones too, which seems impossible), so I picked Console Exclusive because GTA on phones is simply... it's not natural...

If they make it a console exclusive, I want to see my friend's reaction (he doesn't have a console, only a high-end PC he brags about :p)

Not really interested in a 1970s GTA to be honest.....so the answer is none.

Would be pretty interesting as it's a decade that R* hasn't done for some reason hasn't done yet.

We had the 1960's in London.

We had the 1980's in VC and VCS.

We had the 1990's in SA and LCS.

We had the 2000's in III and IV.

We had the 2010's in V.

So why not have the 70's then?

PC exclusive.PC and console though, it will be like that for every GTA in 90% of the cases. If it's a PC exclusive guess I'll go sell my kidneys for a new PC then. :D

The 70s sucked. I don't wanna spend half the game waiting in a gas line. Just give me the 1980s, let Mafia tackle the X>1980s settings because that's what they're known for and they got that market locked down/

as much as id love to see another past era Gta game they would never do it again.simply due to the fact of gta online. if the game was set in the 70s then there wouldn't be much creative content usable online cars, planes ect. the only way they would do a past era segment would be a small segregated flash back like north yankton. otherwise it wouldn't be financially worth it and we all know how rock star likes there money.

I don't think we're gonna get a new Mafia game anytime soon. The people in charge of Hangar 13 want to do their own IP instead.

https://kotaku.com/how-the-makers-of-mafia-iii-lost-their-way-1825242177

Plans for a fourth Mafia didnt last long. At one point, as two sources recalled, Blackman flew to New York City to meet with Take-Two and 2K higher-ups. He then told the staff of Hangar 13 that hed been given a choice: They could either develop Mafia IV or start something completely unique, a new intellectual property. He said hed picked the latter. The way it was pitched in the big all-hands meeting was: Mafia IV was a great thing, its exciting, said one person who was there. But weve always wanted to do our own IP.

Now they could just hand it to another studio at 2k if they wanted. Edited by Zello

http://driver.wikia.com -Driver series (look for Driver 1 and 2)

http://dpl.wikia.com -Driver Parallel Lines

Maybe these are good sources of inspiration for a 70s GTA, they may be barely active but maybe more accurate than GTAW, but then the protagonist would have to be an illegal street racer or wheelman or like Tanner or Claude but ofc speaking

Interesting read, thanks for sharing it :^:

I still feel like it might be set in yesteryear. Maybe something to do with Donovan hunting down whoever killed Kennedy? They already opened that can of worms, might as well empty it out. But no, it's gonna be some silly spy sh*t. Damn!?!??!

Tons of good options. The easiest to make would be a Mafia story set in Liberty City, which would feature characters in IV on the LCPD database, and feature decline of the city itself, when it bankrupt and crime ridden.

San Fierro and Las Vegas would also be great options; San Fierro IMO is the best location, at least without a mob focus. It would have Rock concerts, drug trade, hippies, 70s movie influences and references. You could even throw in a fictional version of the Golden State killer (who has been caught very recently).

Las Vegas could be what Mafia IV would have been, a Casino styled game where you serve as a mob enforcer running a casino operation and competing with rival organizations.

Detroit (Carcer City?) Would also be a good setting.

I'd be tempted to say that if Carcer City ever returns as a city in GTA - it'll be Detroit.
