WHAT IS THIS:

 

Tram Driver mod gives the ability to stop any random tram that passes by player in San Fierro and drive it on your own.

 

MAIN FEATURES:

  • No need to learn any new hotkeys or other things - just find a Tram and press the usual vehicle entering key.
  • The Tram continues its cruise if you go away from it. Anytime you can overtake that Tram and stop it again, or find another one, etc.

 

HOW TO INSTALL:

  • Copy the "trm_drv.cs" file from zip archive to your "CLEO" directory in the game folder.

SOME INTERESTING FACTS:

 

I've started to write this simple script many years ago, but every time something has gone wrong, I became angry etc. So no finish. I decided to re-write it then. I've uploaded first new Tram Driver cleo test video on Youtube in 2014 without actually releasing the script, as it wasn't complete and still caused crashes etc. I've lost my interest again to finish it. But after couple of years I've noticed that testing video suddenly became very popular and it became a leader on my channel. That made me sure people are still interested in mod like this. So finally here it is, enjoy!

Thank you. I think it's because I make mostly narrow-focused mods that aren't interesting for majority of players.

 

Anyway I've found a bug:

- If you get busted while driving the tram somewhere near SFPD HQ (or wasted somewhere near hospital, however, it's too far from nearest tracks for this bug to appear) - your tram might not be destroyed because your spawn point is very close. So it won't continue its cruise in that case and will just remain stopped.

 

Now fixed - the tram will go away from there as intended in those cases.

@Marsi4eg nothing to do with this script but I didn't know where mention you. I saw one of your videos where ambulance (I don't know if other emergency vehicles spawn too) spawn in SA driving in traffic I think. Can you share it?

oh, it's "Traffic&Travel" cleo plugin you can find in this forum (actually I use older version, named Trucks&Trailers v2.2)

Amazing, great work on the mod. I love it, my man:^::cookie::inlove:. I got so focused on driving the tram while testing your mod that I drove it up a hill at VERY high speed and it derailed, LOL:p. Also, one more thing...

No, driver position is model-related. You're free to use any modified tram.dff file where player will sit correctly

I lol'd yesterday with this mod, a prostitute got in with Carl, I left the tram then she stole it a while after and go away. :D

Here's 2020's update with some optimizations and bug/crash fixes!

Now it's Tram Driver v2.0!

 

CHANGELOG:

 

FIXED:

  • Fixed crashes in some situations if this script was used in 2-player mode.
  • Fixed possible crash when the player gets wasted/busted inside the tram.
  • Fixed entering tram carriages. It caused game-breaking bug where you can't go out of tram and need to reload a savegame.
  • Lots of code clean-ups and optimizations. Script operates faster.

 

ADDED:

  • Enabled 2-player mode support that was previously disabled.

 

CHANGED:

  • If the tram has carriages, the player now can enter only the engine (first tram).

Can someone please modify the tram to have a proper driver seat with CJ holding sort of levers?

 

It looks terrible with CJ clipping through the bench...
