Interface
Ive heard it was a great game and it plays similar to the old Smackdown! series. I could get it cheap, do you think it is still worth it? I can't stand WWE 2K18.
Dbzk1999
GM Mode (although not fleshed out) is the closest you can feel to engaging in brand warfare Last game with He who shall not be named (as he died the following year) and Kurt Angle (until 2K18) Season Mode has some, interesting storylines I say go for it, I still play it when Im home from college on my ps2 Interface
The_B1u3_Jay
If you can get it for cheap, then why not? It's still a fun WWE game, although it takes a little while to get used to the old controls again. • The season mode is great for the most part, except for that stupid Trish Stratus as the WWE WH Champ storyline. • The roster is really great, and so is the soundtrack. • It also had some great areas for the backstage brawls and crowd fighting in Hardcore matches. Don't really care about him. I think about getting SvR07 because of the old school gameplay similar to the old SD! games, not because of the roster (Eddie Guerrero and rapping John Cena are in, that is all I need ) Thank you for your advice. Alright. Yeah season sounds great, just don't like that idea of text messages, I'd rather get more cutscenes. SvR06 had plenty of awesome cutscenes and I am afraid of SvR07 being boring in terms of that. Don't want to read a story, I want to see it. Well backstage brawls were great until SvR05, in SvR05 they have removed all those cool areas from the previous games and you were not able to move backstage from the ring in hardcore matches (until WWE 2K17!). Thank you for your advice, too. So you think I should give the game a try? I am interested because it seems to have that old school gameplay AND it has achievements.... and the good old season mode. ^^ Edited April 13, 2018 by Interface

The backstage areas are kinda similar to SvR '06, meaning you have 1 specific area to fight in. It's pretty much an updated version of SvR '06. You have the fully customized lockor room, ultimate control grapples, Money in the Bank, Etc. And it's better than SvR '08 and SvR '09 IMO. But yeah, i think you should try it. Especially if you can buy it cheap. Edited April 13, 2018 by Awesom-0 Interface
thatstupidbug
svr 2007 is good but it has a fatal flaw. match are slower than the fast pace of hctp-svr-svr2006, BUT the damage ratio is way higher, and you or your opponent can be heavily damaged by a quick moves or even a reverse (and they happens A LOT) So have fun being in "deep red damage" after 4 minutes with just some basic trows, suplexes and reversal oh, and if you turn off stamina, the ultimate control moves (that can be reversed ONLY if you have a stored finisher) are way OVERPOWERED. EDIT: i don't know what difficulty is used here, but notice how quick hhh is damaged by "simple" moves. This happened to me even on legend Edited April 13, 2018 by thatstupidbug Interface
ProKiller93
one of the best SVR games imo GM Mode (although not fleshed out) is the closest you can feel to engaging in brand warfareLast game with He who shall not be named (as he died the following year) and Kurt Angle (until 2K18) you forgot legendary names like vito, the mexicools and gregory helms Interface

You have the fully customized lockor room, ultimate control grapples, Money in the Bank, Etc. I wouldn't say updated SVR '06, but clearly a take on it. As you said, the pace is considerably slower, and a huge drawback for me was the implementation of Ultimate Control moves at the expense of 2 move slots per grapple type. '07, for me, is when WWE games really started trending downward. They peaked with WM2k and No Mercy, of course, but even HCTP/SVR/SVR '06 had plenty to offer. If you're looking for a wrestling game on PS2, I highly recommend Def Jam: Fight For New York. It's by Aki, who developed the classic N64 titles, and it's a blast once you get around the idea of Ice-T being a judoka and Snoop Dogg having a black belt in kung fu. Lock n' Stock
Personally, the last SmackDown! game I cared for was Here Comes the Pain. At least in that game you had actual backstage roaming and roster editing in Season Mode (where you could replace nearly everyone with your own CAWs). Never understood why all that was taken out in the next game.
PaeganLoveSong
WWE games have a nasty tendency to take one step forward and three steps back. That's why. ...kinda like their booking for the last 17 years... Edited April 17, 2018 by PaeganLoveSong Lock n' Stock
