IV Song Removal Due to Licenses expiring.

That would have been so ideal if Rockstar had re-released or remastered IV/EFLC for the current-gen consoles. Just mix the soundtracks and have all the music and radio stations (including Vice City FM) on every game. That would be one amazing soundtrack.

I don't know. Am I the only one who doesn't want a remaster for games like VC SA IV? I feel like part of the nostalgia and FEELING we have during the game lies within the same graphics. Well graphics and outdated mechanics have never been an issue for me. I can still even enjoy GTA III mechanics and graphics.

I get what you're saying, and personally, I don't think full remasters of the III era games is necessary or something that should happen. IV still looks great, which is why I've also said before that even a re-release with some minor tweaks (like mixing the soundtracks, open interiors on multiplayer across the board instead of just on EFLC) would be great. A remaster wouldn't even have to change that much. Just improve some of the character model and gun textures (so that guns aren't just solid blocks when they fire).

A leaked screenshot that an artist from Rockstar accidentally posted on his portfolio did show a part of Middle Park that was clearly upgraded, so the thought of updating LC (either for adding it to GTA Online or for a remaster of IV) has definitely crossed Rockstar's minds. However, that was also from 2 or 3 years ago, so whatever they were planning with that has probably been canceled.

BOTH, there's a mod on PC so you can combine radio sets and have the full radio across all 3 titles (IV in EFLC, EFLC in IV).

Both? I'm aware of the combining assists method so you launch the games as DLC and get the shared radio, but how do you enabled the EFLC exclusive stations as well?

Maybe you're supposed to transfer their Audio files and GXT files?

Slightly off-topic but I was wondering what other minor differences there are between physical and digital versions of the game?

Reason I ask is because I have the disc version for PS3, so have the luxury of all the original songs. I recently played the game on a friends Xbox One and he of course doesn't have the removed songs, but I also noticed some other differences such as a text from Roman early in the game asking Niko to pass on his new mobile number to the ladies, something which I never got in the PS3 version.

I'm aware that some versions of the game have additional phone calls such as one from Kate after the Deal ending which isn't present on my version, if this is the case I would actually be interested in buying the digital version despite the song removals. Can anybody elaborate on this?

I would probably take a look at any remaster but I agree that I don't really want one; the nostalgia comes from, as you say, the actual feeling at the time. Part of that feeling was just being younger, maybe more naive etc. and also the fact that GTA3 was genuinely amazing and revolutionary at the time (first 3D GTA game), or say Vice City where new features like helicopters and pilotable aircraft were exactly that, novel. For me, San Andreas felt like the first game where the world was big, where I actually did need the big fold-out map (a nice GTA touch) to get around.

Apart from being unable to go back in time (and probably a good thing too), maybe it's also hard to have that same feeling because you can't unlearn or 'unexperience' something like good graphics, sounds and missions. Like you, I can also enjoy the earlier games because sometimes "less is more" as the saying goes.

Interesting article here actually about nostalgia and video games, interested me as I work in psychology. Although it says that nostalgic video games are usually associated with social/group play, but ironically for me I think that the new GTAO is less nostalgic for me than single player events - in fact, GTAO seems to me slightly more commercial and less about immersion but perhaps it's just me (I joined in 2004 so my perception may be a bit different from present-day gamers' experience).

Does anyone know if the PS3 version got a update? Apparently the complete edition is 9 bucks on PSN right now and I wouldn't mind playing this again....not of it's butchered to high hell.

The patch doesn't affect physical releases, I think? I'm honestly surprised it doesn't - it's strange that Rockstar in its current state would actually respect some consumers' right not to have their product altered after purchase.

It's not a consumer rights issue.

why exactly didn’t happen to Gta III?

Because about 50% plus of the soundtrack was made in-house for GTA III specifically. Rockstar themselves own most of that music

ok i found it here in this thread. I installed it to my latest steam copy and the zit! app doesnt work for some reason and i cant tell if the removed songs are back. There's gotta be someone who has a fix that works. Ok one of the removed songs "crack house" is playing on the beat station. Starting a new game that swine song doesnt play anymore in the beginning. its possible the scripts arent compatible anymore? The radio just seems awfully quiet too. Now as for EFLC the file structure is a little different so that might affect the downgrader.

gotta use this. it's edited to work with CE. Glukoza only plays when you dont skip cutscene.

Use on clean files.

Woopsies. I used that on TBOGT and TLAD. I just tried out TBOGT in new game and Tony doesnt speak at all. i think i need the original american.GXT for the TBOGT and TLAD.

Edit: found a copy of the files from my Alternative copy and put them in my steam copy and tony speaks again now. ZIT also works still even with the EFLC radio downgrade.

Edit: Changing the station or going to the audio settings causes the game to crash in TBOGT EFLC after the downgrade?

Edit: so the IV downgrade here https://mega.nz/#!55tnDAqK!12tfYnWECsEg50G1odizaRkTjvtYr5_QCY6Jp22entg along with the american.gxt file  for zit has brought back the removed songs and works in  the latest  steam IV and EFLC but the EFLC downgrader from here causes crashes when you change the radio or go to audio settings. https://mega.nz/#!55tnDAqK!12tfYnWECsEg50G1odizaRkTjvtYr5_QCY6Jp22entg
