IV Song Removal Due to Licenses expiring.

Recommended Posts

Quick question. I have both GTA IV & EFLC in my Steam library. Is Steam version updated to latest patch? Is there any way of getting the removed music back in the game for Steam version?

if you don´t have GTA IV and EFLC installed, then you could re-download the game with the removed music still in it.

but the Downside is that you need to download the whole game with this methode instead of only the audio folder

Thanks for the answer. Is GFWL still a pain in the ass for Steam versions though?

I didn't want to go through the burden of installing that crap. Thanks again.

You can avoid having to install GFWL by using a GFWL xlive emulator. You'll be sacrificing multiplayer though.

I think the song removal has caused a bug in my ps3 physical copy as well. At about 30 or 45 minutes of gameplay I get am audio distortion that sounds something like white noise either that or I get no sound in my game at all. I even wiped down the disk. I'm not sure if the songs were removed for my copy bought back in 2013. Imdmt listen to vladistok that much but every time I surf through stations I hear songs instead of Russian rap besides the ones I recognise. I haven't played in awhile ,I was listening to the classic hip hop station and I heard main source "live at the barbeque" featuring nas. Did they remove and add songs from other stations besides vladistok? I don't René!Ber that song being on there it felt out of place.

The song removal caused a bug in PS3 physical copy, and it's an accident.

Well, I don't live in Europe so I can't even begin to discuss about EU consumer rights laws. The solitaire was just a hypothetical and it's unlikely Rockstar would ever go to such a drastic route, but Rockstar does have the legal authority to make modifications to their product.

"live at the barbeque" has been in the game since launch

How old is your PS3? Have it ever had some problems? Oldest PS3s (especially FAT ones) have a lot of problems like faulty hard drive, corrupt operating system, high temperatures (that cause YLOD), faulty fans, faulty chips (CPU and GPU). I have a PS3 Slim that is 5-6 years old and with some heavy games (like GTA V) the temperatures go high and sometimes the textures don't load, soon I'll probably change the thermal compound of CPU and GPU. Sadly I can't help you more, I don't have GTA IV on PS3 and my console has also a faulty Blu-Ray drive, but form what I understood physical copies weren't touched at all.

I did a play through yesterday all the songs are there and my game works fine after wiping it. It might have been the pos3. I bought it in 2013 as part of the GTA v bundle. I think the bugs happened because I had it unplugged for awhile and left the DVD disk port open. Maybe some dust got in there. I was able to play up until crime and punishment then I called it a night.

My game keeps freezing after hostile negotiations. I'm on pos3. Can anyone help me with this?

If it's a physical copy it's unrelated to this topic. The physical copies did not receive a patch.
just do it bob1

If this song ends up being one of the ones cut from Vladivostok FM (which is losing most of its tracks), then the beginning of the game with Roman driving up to you for the first time drunk out of his mind will not have the same feel as it did before :/

It also would not surprise me at all if we ended up getting a bunch of songs from the 2010s replacing whatever is cut even though IV is in 2008. As someone mentioned before, LCS had tracks from the 2000s and 2012 added even though it's set in 1998, and they added entire radio stations to GTA V full of songs made after 2013 even though that's when V is set. I don't think Rockstar cares much about timeline continuity anymore.

Oh the nostalgia

I want to hear the new radio Vladivostok in the game, but I don't want to buy this broken game on steam. easy replacement of the old radio_vladivostok.rpf to new file radio_vladivostok.rpf is not helping. Vladivostok stops working in the game. for a full-fledged work is not enough for some more files. help me

The American.gxt file (as well as the equilavent gxt files in other languages) is different with the new update, maybe bringing the new gxt file will work

f*ck Rockstar Games!

First Grand Theft Auto V's horrible everything...now this...

This was the last good Grand Theft Auto game and they ruined it...thank god I can remain offline...

Bullsh*t Fact: The song removal was the only thing they changed. They didn't change anything else...

Hmmm nice bike

My appreciation for the retail copies of all my GTA games just increased tenfold for some reason. :p

Same, I have VC on the iPad and it sucks not hearing Billie Jean as the first song on it like I'm used to with the Xbox version (though Self Control isn't a bad choice from the soundtrack to replace it, but it still feels a bit odd).

Off-Topic but which version of TLAD and TBOGT do you guys prefer? DLC download or EFLC disc?

I prefer DLC because of the combined radio station songs and being able to switch games through game saves. Also playing multiplayer with a friend is less of a hassle because if you are playing GTA 4 and your friend invites you to play TBOGT multiplayer, you can accept the invite and the game will immediatly take you to TBOGT's multiplayer.

BOTH, there's a mod on PC so you can combine radio sets and have the full radio across all 3 titles (IV in EFLC, EFLC in IV).

That would have been so ideal if Rockstar had re-released or remastered IV/EFLC for the current-gen consoles. Just mix the soundtracks and have all the music and radio stations (including Vice City FM) on every game. That would be one amazing soundtrack.
