IV Song Removal Due to Licenses expiring.

Recommended Posts

Then again, can mute the music in the game and listen to the oringal music on your computer? thought of that? No? Why, because you and everybody else is just mopping and moaning over this whole ordeal.

Why on earth would you listen to the soundtrack on PC like this while playing the game? Then you have to start/pause the tracks everytime you get out of the car and get back in?

Also this ruins the feeling of having a real radio station in the game. Also you can no longer hear other NPC's listen to that station. jE1nG3d.png

I hadn't thought of it until the second I finished reading your post, but you may be predicting precisely how things will unfold in 5 years time. The fact of the matter is that V is a cash cow for shark card sales, and GTAO shows absolutely no sign of slowing down at all. I can definitely see Online going another few years, maybe even forcing Rockstar to continue rolling out the updates and milking the shark card sales, perhaps even up until GTA VI launches. If so, they would feel obliged to pay for the renewal of the music licensure. They should do it for IV and the Episodes just out of cusomtomer loyalty, BUT I am thinking now, after reading your post, that they will renew the music for V out of necessity.

Exactly my point. Funny to see you in the IV section since you've been replying here for a while. I thought you hated IV's guts :p I mean, lmao your signature.

This is bigger than V vs IV though. IV driving vs V driving or light hearted vs dark and gritty are matters of opinion but nobody should have a game they already paid for butchered like this. That is something the entire GTA community should agree on and they probably will butcher V when VI comes out.

100% my point!

This issue is much bigger than debates over fanboy allegiance to a specific GTA or the teasing and trash talking that goes on in the V section. My feelings about IV or IV vs V are completely irrelevant to this issue. This is about the GTA community being screwed over, once again, by the rapacious, corporate avarice of a juggernaut of a company more concerned with shark card sales than good customer service.

I've reorganized my Xbox 360 data to have my episodic DLC on a USB drive. Is there a way to make a backup copy of this? It lets you transfer to USB but then you still just have one copy. How do you make a spare that will work if the originals are corrupted?

It is possible to copy files from Xbox 360 USB drive to PC, and vice versa to restore from the backup. Look for GTA IV episodes at:

I just booted up EFLC, and San Juan Sounds just doesn't feel the same anymore....there are only 4 songs standing. :facedesk:

I'm playing EFLC on PS3 and there was no update. So maybe disc based GTA4+EFLC don't need to update?

Hi guys, I have updated my GTA IV Steam version and just now I found out what the latest "patch" was all about. :/

Fortunately, I have a full backup of both GTA IV and EFLC folders. Can I just replace the current folder with my backup? Or should I just install George's downgraders?

Is that confirmed?

Yeah, by multiple people here a few pages back.

It doesn't really matter, you get the same thing either way. It would probably be easier to just replace with your backups.

OK, thanks. But after replacing the folders with the backups, would I need to set Steam to offline mode before starting the game?

Wouldn't Steam try to download the latest updated files if I start the game while Steam in online?

nope, steam doesn´t check all the files on the game startup to see if they are outdated.

steam just reads the installscript.vdf to see if the current version is a outdated version.

this means: if you made the update and then replace the audio folder, steam won´t notice it

I have GTA 4 GTA EFLC and GTA 4 CE all of which are Physical copies are any of the soundtrack changes going to effect me? Since I have never played any of those titles Online?

Lucky for owners of the physical copies, no. As long as you're playing the game on the original consoles (Xbox 360 or PS3) offline, you'll be fine.

Wow. Just wow. Rockstar has changed to one of the greediest and disgusting companies out there over the recent years and I'm really worried what the future beholds, I'm afraid the good times are over and all we can do is to enjoy their older creations with the help of user-made modifications to retain their originality.

On a side note, if I were to buy GTA IV from Steam now would there be some patches already that revert the game back to it's original self? I don't care if I can't play the online of the game anyway as it's most likely dead. Then again, I am starting playing the series from the beginning so I wont be playing GTA IV for a while yet anyway.

Yes, to restore songs there's already a IV/EFLC Radio "Downgrader" and you can downgrade to the most commonly used patch 7 from Rockstar's website.

Sun Juan is f*cking awful, who listens to that anyway? /s

What pisses me off much more that Rockstar didn't mention anything about IV's anniversary. f*ck them.

They seem to be fine online, too. I have yet to get any updates on those platforms. PS3 for me.

A little late to the party but...they f*cking did it didn't they? They replaced the entirity of Vladivostok (including 'King Ring'), one of the stations that virtually MADE the game's atmosphere, all because they're a bunch of lazy assholes who can't be bothered to renew the licences.

Just to be safe, there's not a chance I'm installing the latest update.

Hmmm nice bike

Pretty much the entirety of Vladivostok FM got replaced with music that's fairly unremarkable compared to what used to be on there (and some were even made after 2008, I guess they don't care about continuity). It's still funny how they apparently can't work on licensing the original tracks again, but they're alright on licensing new songs. Rockstar Logic.

Liberty Rock Radio, Vice City FM and San Juan Sounds also took a few hits and had more great tracks removed. I'm just glad I still have the game on a 360 that's not connected to the internet, so they can't force me to update anything.

More people than you think.

Awesome station.

You might've missed it, but the "/s" indicates sarcasm.

GTA IV, EFLC, those were games where I can honestly say I actually enjoyed most of the music there.

Good thing disc copies on 360 are unaffected 😊

Nay, East Los FM is way f*cking awful than San Juan, Both versions of San Juan had way better mixes than that station to be honest with you.
