IV Song Removal Due to Licenses expiring.

Question: Are There In-game Soundtrack Changes Coming to GTAIV and its Episodes?

Answer: Due to music licensing restrictions, we are required to remove certain songs from the in-game soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto IV, the episodes The Lost and Damned & The Ballad of Gay Tony, as well as the collection Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City. These soundtrack changes include a large portion of the Russian pop station, Vladivostok FM. While this means that some songs are being removed, we will be updating the station with a new set of songs.

We will be updating this article with information regarding these soundtrack changes as soon as it is available.

Since EFLC is also specifically mentioned, I bet Vice City FM is going to be butchered too, if not removed entirely.

This is not any great new's for me because i enjoyed mostly every radio station in GTA IV & EFLC especially Vice City FM & i hope this doesn't happen to that station because it was one of my favorites in the DLC , but of course that might as well happen though because they can't spend their precious money to renew the music licences & they just want to add some stupid pop music to radio station's for song's removed to replace them... How stupid..

Like other's have mentioned in this thread i don't think it's going to feel like GTA IV anymore & some of the memories with the music might just go down the drain...

It'll suck if they take out "Mama" by Genesis, or "Labour of Love" by Hue & Cry. Or heck, anything on LRR or Vice City FM really. Those were my two favorite radio stations between both IV and EFLC! I really do wonder what they're going to be replacing a lot of this cut music with.

Someone asked what they'd do with DJ dialogue, especially from Ruslana since her radio station is getting the most cut from it. They're probably just going to keep their stories and monologues that play between the songs and then not include any new dialogue for the new songs. I doubt they'd bother with trying to get her, Iggy Pop, etc. back after 10 years to get them to read a few more song introductions.

I'm hoping The Journey is left intact, personally. Tangerine Dream ended up working on V's soundtrack, so I imagine R* would have enough of a soft spot for the group to at least keep "Remote Viewing" in the game.

I think this change will only affect Steam, further digital purchases on PSN/Xbox Live and potential remaster/re-release if they follow the same pattern they did with the GTA SA songs removal . If you got your copy on disc on either console or on PC, it will not change. Still it kinda sucks since most people probably have it on Steam only.

I don't realize why they never have to do this with movies but they always have to remove songs from games. Nobody is being forced to go back and remove music from classic movies but every GTA has had music removed after a while.

They either pay the bigger upfront license fee to get an open ended license that allows them to sell the movie in perpetuity...or they renew the licenses every x years...or simply veto any plans to remaster or rerelease it. I guarentee there are some remasters studios wanted to put out that we didn't get simply because of licensing issues. They have no choice, it's rather alot more difficult to cut music out of a scene once the audio has been mixed than it is to delete an audio file from of an archive in a game.

I dunno, lots of classics were released on Blu-Ray uncut.

No word about any other changes beside soundtrack.

No hope on new patch.

Maybe...*maybe* we get a couple of nice fixes to atleast make it worth the time to update and readd the music. It's unlikely though.

Does anyone remember the "leak" of DJ Whoo Kid stating that we was working on an upcoming GTA title taking place in LC again?

Could it be about one of those new radio stations?

Rockstar and Take-Two are a joke.

Rockstar and Take-Two aren't jokes.
You're weird, do the housers or Strauss zelnick f*ck you or something?

What? Do you really defend Rockstar and T2? Probably in this case it isn't much their fault, but with all the money they gained from GTA Online they could at least renovate the licences this time... Rockstar is changing a lot, probably, if it wasn't for GTA Online, we would wait for GTA VI this year (or 2019).

I'm really hoping Star Wars Battlefront 2 signed the start of a revolution in videogames, I'm sick of all these microtransactions... A new game costs 70€ in Europe (today = 86$) and I don't want to spend again the same amount of money for in-game content. Never bought a Shark Card and I'll never do that (probably I'll be banned randomly for this reason :))!

Ive said it before if Rockstar continues with this crap in the next game, having to pay for content and cards i dont want and if i dont i get a single player thats a pile of sh*t, i have never played GTA5 and done all missions only reason i know how it plays and ends is because my sons have played it through on 360 and ps3 respectively. I honestly wish id never bought GTA5 it was a waste of money to me.

Sorry for the offtopic rant

I hope they dont dare to remove oxygen pt 4. My gosh I remember it specially when I was escaping from the cops after killing Goldberg for the first time

The Journey was such a fantastic station. Helped introduce me to Aphex Twin, Tangerine Dream, and the like.

It's supposed to be several of the songs on Vladivostok FM as well.

Bummer. Now when you start a new game this song doesn't rape your eardrums anymore when you drive Roman's Taxi to the "so-called" mansion.

Goodbye MP IV. Was nice knowing you.

Sucks that I have to give up MP to continue playing an old game that should not be f*cked with. The fact that I can't even enjoy the one GTA I reeeally like without them f*ckibg it up these days is sad. I'll probably be too busy when GTA VI comes out. They're not getting anymore money from me. Tf kind of company is this.
