IV Song Removal Due to Licenses expiring.

Recommended Posts

So, PS3 PSN versions got updated too.

GTA IV

Old size 10.27 GB. New size 10.17 GB

GTA EFLC

Old size 7.81 GB. New size 7.72 GB

I'm not sure what version you get, if try redownload game from PSN account.

PS. I'm sure, Rockstar will not release any cut songs updates for physical versions on 360, PS3 and most likely PC too.

For store version, in 360. If you redownload game from Xbox Live you got cut version.

Is it possible for someone (probably a modder) to create a downgrader for GTA IV, that would bring the old songs back (keeping the new songs would be nice too XD) and fix the issues with the patch? (The new patch broke my game and it simply blackscreens).

Already done for PC. Posted a few pages back. Not to mention that (for now atleast) you can use Steam's console with the download_depot command to download the delta of the new and the old patch...or indeed just the unchanged 1.0.8.0 in its entirety... Edited by MeatSafeMurderer

Ive officially lost it with this corporate c-ck snobs!

YES! I know its licensing copyright music issues, blah, blah spare me the paper talk!

As an Xb1 ower I deinstalled EFLC & IV!

I have a remarkable xb360 with no internet because the hell for?!! I installed EFLC & IV. I sign in my profile & played out a few...TF is wrong with this shark card cocain company?!?!

Sorry Im ranting but I payed $$ for this as it was, so 🖕🏼 R*, 🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼 Them! They could have worked out a deal, re-new and in the process both the artist or bigger Picture here, record company & fans who suppport R* would all be happy.

After allll the money they made from online V, jeez man, clearly they are greedy and I swear I will not buy sh!t from thfm, no cowboys & Indian prequel. The last game I had bought from them was LA Noire...Now after this epic slap in the co-k from them removing songs like David Bowie, man no respect! Im done with all this. IV was & is one of the greatest games ever made!

Ino longer support Rockstar games.

As Niko said; So this is what the American dreams feels like!

Done.

I tried the audio mod, but for some reason, only commercials play on Vladivostok, I guess I will wait until a mod that works comes up. Or since I new here how can I download the 1.0.8.0 patch?

Forget, man: people here are doing nothing but trying to accuse Rockstar of the next thing. And it'd be absolutely fine if they complained about the real things.

As I already wrote here, they must've had some renewing issues as many other songs have remained in the game. But yeah, GTA Forums dudes always know better.

The localization f*ckup is surely one, however, that's what we've always been getting from Rockstar – their games always suck technically as well as updates.

But the issue ISN'T that they've lost songs, yes that happens, it sucks, it's HOW Rockstar then decide to be lazy and just patch it out of ALL copies, that's the issue, most of us own GTA IV now so if they did the right thing, we wouldn't be affected. It's down to Rockstar not wanting to branch builds because they're just that lazy for some reason, here's how literally EVERYONE ELSE does it...

STUB 1: Full Game with ALL SONGS

------------------------------------------------- LICENCE EXPIRES -------------------------------------

STUB 1 gets delisted, will no longer be sold, STUB 2 gets put in place.

STUB 2: Full Game with some songs removed

Anyone who buys the game AFTER the licence expires would get STUB 2, those who purchased the game BEFORE the licence expires would still get STUB 1.

The downside to this is that the developer would now have to maintain TWO branches incase any further updates are done to the games code/EXE/etc (which let's be honest, considering they didn't do any changes in this build, just mess up some text files, I doubt we're going to see more patches for IV).

This is how the rest of the industry does it, some even maintaining multiple stubs and builds through Steam. Rockstar even did it right, sort of, once with Vice City, where there's different versions of the game on Steam depending on when you bought it, if you owned it before the licence expired, you still get to keep that version with all the music, if you purchased it after that expiration then you got the version with some songs removed. However at some point they messed up the switch and NOW if you buy Vice City, you'll get the full version. With San Andreas they messed it up royally by removing the songs for EVERYONE (just like with IV) but attempted to restore that by having the original radio as DLC for those who owned the game before they lost the licence, but again, something messed up and they never released it.

This is a really sh*tty situation for everyone and I too am somewhat angry about it, however it's not that big of a deal for most players. I'm pretty sure if you're on console you could just delete the update or choose not to install it. And if you're on PC you can install an old patch. Most people don't play this game online anyways so the only people this really effects are the small percentage of people that do these days. Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember being able to delete updates back when I had an Xbox 360 by deleting the cache or something?

Yes you can delete patches in Xbox 360, however i don't remember what you got to delete since it was a long time since i played on a Xbox 360.

Anyway, is the patch ready for PS3? That way I can avoid it. (Again, I got the Complete Edition)

Good to see last reviews on Steam, GTA IV rating just falls.

I am going to create some spite ratings for GTA IV and EfLC as well on Steam. Just grade them one star each and hope that collectively people on PSN and LIVE do it as well and that we can create the same kind of backlash that we did when Rockstar went on a Jihad against the modders.

And yet R* won't remove DRM and the since-defunct Games for Windows Live for the PC version of a 10-year old game. Goes to show how lazy devs can be.

Not to mention that they don't want to renew expired songs, despite the fact that they've earned $6 billion from GTA V alone for the sake of GTA Online.

Thank god for the fact that the patch didn't have a new EXE, this way we can play MP with people who have it while we still have the old songs

By the way? V fans should also be concerned about this since that game just hit the 5 year old mark, or will in a few months. Time passes VERY FAST, and soon we will all be railing against Take2 yet again, 5 years down the line, for the very same reason. So anyone who thinks that their feelings about IV or V or that their allegiance to a game in the series has ANYTHING to do with this discussion, better think again.

oh no, rockstar won't hurt their baby that is GTA V/Online, they'll renew the licenses for that, as long as it keeps making them money

VollgasPilot

So when does Cockstar bring the update for the f*cked up graphics menue?

(except english language)

And when do they fix the existing graphical bugs like AMD water bug?

Instead of messing around with CarsonGT these idiots should fix their stuff

In 5 years GTA Online won't be anywhere near the top of Rockstar's priority list. Red Dead Online will be well established and maybe another GTA will be available, or at least be very close to release.

funfact: new songs in vladivostok are using hex codes, just like in gta 5

They just don't have a name that OpenIV recognizes (they're all encoded/encrypted/whatever). The songs do have actual names:

ADD_SPEED└── ADD_SPEED_LEFT└── ADD_SPEED_RIGHTBEGO_RANCHO_SONG //this isn't a typo└── BEGU_RANCHO_SONG_LEFT└── BEGU_RANCHO_SONG_RIGHTCHIKI└── CHIKI_LEFT└── CHIKI_RIGHTHOT_SUMMER└── HOT_SUMMER_LEFT└── HOT_SUMMER_RIGHTKARAOKE└── KARAOKE_LEFT└── KARAOKE_RIGHTMON_AMI└── MON_AMI_LEFT└── MON_AMI_RIGHTNOCHJU└── NOCHJU_LEFT└── NOCHJU_RIGHTPLAY└── PLAY_LEFT└── PLAY_RIGHTREPREZENTY└── REPREZENTY_LEFT└── REPREZENTY_RIGHTRIFFMASTER_TONY└── RIFFMASTER_TONY_LEFT└── RIFFMASTER_TONY_RIGHTUNDERGROUND└── UNDERGROUND_LEFT└── UNDERGROUND_RIGHT
The ones with "_left" and "_right" go into AudioTracks.txt, ones without go into strings/archives/RPF3/radio_vladivostok.rpf.txt if anybody wants to have a complete list of names or something.

How do you even edit AudioTracks.txt? I tried using a text editor but it's just gibberish, also do I need to do this to export the songs to wav? Because that isn't working right now

EDIT: Nevermind, somehow my export folder is unwritable, my HDD is probably dying (the AudioTracks.txt file is still gibberish though)

I remember seeing that years ago and someone saying that was just a prerendered screenshot, like from blender or something.

Gnocchi Flip Flops

So it isn't 100% R*'s fault on this.

I guess Rockstar can do no wrong in your eyes. How many times do they have to f*ck up for you to see it?

Ain't enough being a fanboy in the world to take this sh*t. The only reason some people take this sh*t is because of the name of the game and the company that makes it.

Nice, another weirdo calling me a fanboy. Aren't you that Roger Murtaugh on YouTube? What should I see? That their games are a piece of sh*tty code? That I see.

However, I've only got this branches thing Ash told me about. Rockstar are surely aware that the PC players will downgrade the game unofficially, which most of us did, so what's the big deal anyway?

Because PC players aren't the only ones out there. For many console players deleting the patch may not even be an option...and even if they can unlike on PC they DO have to sacrifice online....not only that but nobody should have to. They should have rereleased it in neutered form rather than neutering the copy I bought.

I just leave it here for all these people who thought R* will bring something special for tenth anniversary of the GTA IV. (thankfully I am a realist).
