Thanks for the gif, mate, I appreciate the effort, but isn't that the point? Where are the hats in that scene? She walks up to a some coats and shoes, and a 'hats' menu pops up. At least I know where they are now, after FIVE years. Cheers.

So, Paleto Bay...let's talk about it. Proximity is often used as a positive attribute in this game. Close to this airport or that convenience store or XYZ heist spawn, etc. It works best for locations in the city and it's more of a priority when running businesses, freeroam VIP jobs or quick stops in between heists and such. But outside of that, when you're not necessarily in a hurry and when making money isn't that important at the moment, seculusion - especially in a violent, trolly game like GTA - can be an actual benefit. This is where far-away locations like the Paleto Discount Store, Beeker's Garage, the sheriff's office Pegasus spawn and any other top of the map locations shine. They stand out because they're not in busy areas. You can enjoy the top half of the map without having to go to the eternal hell of Los Santos. Thus, the far-away blips on the map make such reclusive gameplay possible. They're virtual anchors.

 

When you're at the top of the map, you expect a longer drive and a longer flight. It's the journey you're after, not the destination. These anchor locations in Paleto, Sandy Shores, Route 68, etc make that journey worth it. Cluster some of these businesses together and you might not even have to come back.

 

With my long history in the crew Paleto Bay Mayor's Office (PBMO) I'm obviously biased. But the Discount Store, like Beeker's, was often one of the town waterholes where people congregated and was very convenient to try new clothes in peace when new DLC came out. You could have all your outdoorsy seculusion and still get things done; that's a very crucial aspect to the game. Such useful locations gave purpose to places like Paleto Bay and Sandy Shores, which ultimately makes this part of the map more enjoyable in the long-run.

 

Sandy Shores came in second during the last Elimination Game and I think the same phenomenon propelled it as far as it got. When you have alot of the same item in the same place, it looses it's shine. Hard to say which LSC, Ammu-Nation or Clothing Store is better than the other when you can just go to another one a few blocks away and get the same exact stuff.

 

I vote based on the impact the various items listed have on my gameplay. With this item or without this item, would the game be different? There's alot of city locations, clothing stores in this case, that I use a lot but if they were gone it wouldn't make much of a difference. They may be more accessible, but they're not necessarily more valuable though. I'd just go to the other one a few blocks down. For the Paleto Bay Discount Store it's not as cut and dry. This spot on the map makes a real difference and thus sponsors more goodwill than a common location that's just a dime a dozen. Been to one, been to em all. Arguably, some of the spread out locations could therefore have a bigger impact on the game desite being relatively out of sight and out of mind.

 

Paleto's Discount Store is not long for this game, and not because folks don't get what I'm saying, but simply because they're just not often visited by most people voting. Fully understand that. I just want to give some perspective on why these distant locations get the love they do while they're still here.
