Why is the AI so bad?

Why is the AI so f*cking bad? I mean like, here's an example:

Michael: Hey.

Pedestrian: Hey.

Michael: Hey, what's up.

Pedestrian: I'm going to take you down!

 

 

Why do they want to fight a lot? And don't say like ''Rockstar didn't know how to make a good AI''

Then how did they do much better in the previous games? Can someone explain the reason of this?

The game has poor AI altogether, take for example if you point a gun at one ped every pedestrian with a mile radius runs away too, its just f*cked up.

Rockstar did a good job on thee look of the game but the little things that make the game are messed up like pedestrian interaction and also how you can kill a ped with one punch, what the f*ck is that about?

Every game has this, pedestrian types, some pedestrians are generally cool while others are just out right hostile with the player, this ins't something new.

Every game has this, pedestrian types, some pedestrians are generally cool while others are just out right hostile with the player, this ins't something new.

In previous games, this would pretty much only be limited to gang members.

I totally agree with the AI being sh*tty compared to IV, but that's from a gameplay perspective. I thought V had more realistic AI, but a little more hostile, satirizing the general special-snowflake populace of LA and America's close relationship with violence in general, but it just doesn't make for great gameplay.

but you can download updated version of some free modmenu and set peds to ignore you, same things that are quickly updated for online are also nice for singleplayer without needing to add any files to game folder

Because they gimped their actual game to milk the old consoles one more time, basically. They could have just released on new gen, but didn't. They pretend they re-did all of this, but you can tell, and it's been proven, some of the oldest screenshots use the nextgen and pc assets and graphical effects not available on old consoles (DX9 limitations, dx11 effects in screenshots as far back as then). The reason why so much is "dumbed down" from IV is because when you improve the game but not the hardware for V, but IV already pushed the envelope of the hardware, aspects of the game need to dumb down. Yes, things get done more optimally and that helps... but for the most part, the improvements to V cost a lot of strides IV made and ended up removed so it could milk the old consoles one last time before re-releasing what 5 more times at this point?

Don't blame it on the old consoles, a majority of V's faults are just bad design decisions. NPC Overaggression is certainly not the result of aging hardware. Same with Euphoria:

I always thought the AI in GTA was retarded, especially the way they drive or jumping in the middle of the road.

The technical reason for this is some peds are just more easily aggravated than others, and something as simple as standing close to them contribute to the aggravation timer.

If that's the case, then why the peds so much more violent in Los Santos than they were in Liberty City? What's different about Los Santos?

I think the R* was trying too hard to make "realistic" NPCs.

I also hate how they can ring the cops, the bastards.

I just feel the AI was one of the many things in the game that was rushed or pushed aside so they could focus on the multiple character thing.
