Fastest way to load into GTAO. Single player first, or straight in?

Loading GTA V to get into GTAO - SP or MP from the start?

  1. 1. When getting ready to play GTAO, do you prefer to load into single player first, or do you load directly into online?

    • I load into single player first.

I have the game set to load straight into Online, it usually works fine but takes maybe 10% longer to load than SP. Very rarely it gets stuck in the loading process. But mostly I enter whatever session my friends are in and then I usually join them through the PS friends menu..

Surprised to see so many load into single-player first. I know that single-player itself always loads quick but then there's the Franklin-Michael-Trevor "look what situation I got myself into now" little cut-scene they have going on and then you have to launch another loading window to get into online. So it's more of a multi-step process with two different wait times.

Did you beat the campaign?

I think switch scenes when you load the game first time doesn't occur after you beat the campaign and you directly spawn in safe houses without cutscenes.

Yeah I did actually. Only thing I haven't finished is the assassination missions, maybe that's the reason?

But it'll either be Franklin coming outside the strip club or Trevor's drunken day-after hijinks or Michael chillin with his family. Something. Not that this little amount of time is too much to bear, but it definitely packs on the seconds of wait time compared to just going straight to multiplayer.

You can just quick-save doing nothing and it will always load you to that save without any cutscenes.

I'm going to try this next time I get on. Thanks for the pro-tip!

I timed it.

On MY PS4 (I have an aftermarket 1TB HDD installed) and on MY internet connection, it's faster to load into Online directly than to load into Story Mode and then switch.

Then again, the vast majority of the time I leave my system in rest mode if I know I'm going to be playing again the next day. So I can load in in about a minute.

This is the main reason I avoid SP like the plague. Doesnt matter how many times I switch to Franklin and save my game, I always load in to Michael:

-being an asshole to his wife

-being an asshole to his kids

-being an asshole to a cop

-being an asshole to a lifeguard

-being an asshole to his therapist

-being an asshole to a security guard

-being an asshole to a random pedestrian

I f*cking HATE Michael. Hes a reprehensible piece of sh*t

I dont even hate the clouds because Im stuck in an infinite loading screen; I hate the clouds because I know Im gonna have to hear Michaels stupid, smarmy f*cking voice.

The happiest moment Ive had in GTA is when I discovered I can pause the SP menu and join online without having to listen to him

I spawn as Franklin in his house without a mini cutscene or something, I beat all missions. My save is autosave from collectibles.

Before that whenever I open story mode it started with a switch scene.

However whenever I disconnect from online I still have to cope with those scenes like Trevor masturbating or Michael being asshole to security guy or Franklin doing boring things in his house.

Might help to turn off auto saving also, I have that turned off and when I load in to single player I always load to my last quick save point without any cut scene

SP first always.

Need to get to Trevors part or keep him as the last character selected. Funniest damn sh*t is random load ins with Trevor.

I mostly load directly into Online, even though I find SP > Online being faster. I use my monitor for both my PS4 and PC so I just switch between them during loading screens. I look at the PS4's controller light to see when the game is ready, then I just switch. I do the same when I'm on call in-game or just wait for new missions, heists or whatever to load. It's a very convenient setup.

a SSD will help for sure. but long loading times aren't caused by the game itself. i noticed it happens when there is a modder in the session you try to join. if it takes too long i just do the public solo glitch on PC, and i connect instantly. but connecting to SP 1st won't help. i mean it will just add to the waiting time

Singleplayer then GTAO. And in case i get stuck in the clouds Taskmanager pause internet connection of GTAV.exe for 10 seconds and resume it.

There are way to many ppl with sh*tty internet in the game what causes never ending loadscreens. Mostly caused by strict nat types...

ALWAYS single-player first, because going straight into Online puts you into a public session, and ...haha, nope. :sui:

(not just because public sessions with randos are awful, but also because loading into a closed session is a lot quicker in general)

Back on 360 I finished SP before I ever tried Online and I loved those Trevor load ins! Now I'm always loading in as Michael and my wife hates him with a passion.

See, fortunately I just went back to the beginning of single-player, saved after the Vangelico heist but before meeting Michael and unlocking Trevor, and so I just get 'Franklin standing around in his aunt's house' when I start, and 'Franklin drinking outside a convenience store/stuck in traffic/polishing his bike' when I back out of Online.

Probably worth doing that if you barely play V anymore, compared to Online - saves having to sit through whatever hilarious antics the trio are getting up to (:rol:) every time you start the game...

Quicker to load into SP then online, but more of a chance youll get stuck in the clouds

Slower to load directly into Online, but less a chance youll get stuck in the clouds

Pick your poison!

I'll take the last option.

Is this The Guy?

I just press square and dive right into it, after a little bit of a wait that is.

Okay after a little bit of a much longer wait. Okay not that long of a wait.

"Okay, a long wait..but point is, I get there...eventually."
