started playing GTAO on PC early 2016 .... 2016 was an awesome year , but 2017 was great too ....I hope 2018 will be as good ....

I still take out tanks using Lesters' Declasse Asea and OTR, just gotta soften it up first or get a friend to put stickies on the inside of the door too.

Never gets old. But! I do admit the scenery has changed ALOT! The map feels half the size with WW3 going on.

I agree with the map statement. It's great that we have quick access to vehicles that make traversing the map so convenient, but it's that accessibility that makes LS feel small and crowded.

Back in 2013 the game felt fresh but there was very little to do other than grind Rooftop Rumble endlessly...

 

If the game had remained in its 2013 format it would not have survived for 5 years, which is an eternity in the gaming world.

2013-2015 the golden era of gta online... its still good now obviously its a great game but it used to be better. it would be really easy to improve it too just delete the whole gunrunning update, the flying cars and stunt races and we would be back to what gta is supposed to be.

it would be amazing to do ceo and mc sh*t in 2015 without having to look out for children in weird vehicles using weird weapons.

tbh 2014 was the best imo because we had more cars and weapons but it still felt like GTA and free roam wasn't just a war zone of f*cking weaponized vehicles everywhere

If not '13 charm I would never play online for so long, and when '18 came I gasped that I live in the past and not much people play this way. Never wanted it to be too military, yes to guns and blood, but not special forces parade and never understood back than those wall rides custom races that were turned out to standard.

For all it's faults, 2018.

 

By a country mile too really. The cars, including owning so many compared to then. I do like the businesses, I have my complaints mind, and the stunt races are a laugh. (Though a shame older content is often over-looked too). So much choice now, and I haven't even killed anyone for a good week, maybe 2, lol.

 

Compare today's bad to that feeling I had when all was lost in seconds on old gen. No brainer. I can game here, I can avoid all that and the worst thing to happen is I lose/get killed. It's awesome.

 

Seeing the issues from old gen and of late, PC, there's much R* can and should do to offer peace of mind when gaming though. I hope to see more going forward here too.

A lot of time people in Akula's just want to observe the action. I do that too, best not to shoot at them and they might just leave you alone. Very smart!

this is my problem...if im looking for a specific thing...ive gotta look through all these icons, which are pretty unnecessary.

 

Only event I ever partake in is the close miss challenge. I usually get first, with a high of 75. all the others dont interest me. Annd with everything, including doomsday heist preps, requiring public lobbies...big middle finger to rockstar on that

i voted for 2018 even though i kind of miss the earliest days of gta online when a lot of us didn't have much $$$ and we grinded missions a lot but hospital visits where expensive ($2k a visit) and i still miss the days when the mechanic physically delivered our cars but we never knew if it would be wrecked or stolen by the mechanic!

I definitely prefer how it is today. For me the good outweighs the bad.

I wouldn't want to be a new player at this point, but for me now, almost 3000 hours in, it's better.

Since I only played in invite only session (meaning that the trolls, griefers and tryhards can't bother me),I like it better now that there's more cool stuff like new cars and motorcycles, better clothes and tattoos, some new weapons, and many other stuff.However,I don't like all the ridiculous unrealistic stuff (flying Delorean, flying bike, KITT, Batmobile, TRON bike, flip car, rocket car, Ghost Rider bike...) and tacticool stuff that we got since Import/Export DLC,so if I would play in public session where people commonly use many of those these days,I would prefer to play the 2013-2016 GTA Online,ideally just in between Bikers and Import/Export.

Just remembered: 2013 GTAO still had a much better balance when it came to solo-able activities, no flying cars/bikes and other nonsense, none of the constant SecuroServ-ing of everything, no big chunks of the map gouged out to stick big metal doors all over the place, etc. ...

 

Still prefer mid-2015 GTAO, obviously (Freemode Events is where things started going downhill for my GTAO experience), but I'll take a version of GTAO without any of those things over the current version, no matter how basic and somewhat under-developed that might be. Better the bare-bones concept than the mutated chimera we have now, IMO.

Who wrote the game the way it is written? Who decided to use this particular architecture, and ignore security holes elated to it? And who decided to automate the banning process, as well as practically shutting down support for those who were unjustly punished? Wake up, you ignorant, 8th gen consoles will be cracked one day as well, it's a matter of time.

Also, one of my personal life rules prohibits me from taking any advice from illiterates.

I feel like Freemode Events was the first huge letdown, although R* rehabilitated themselves with Lowriders update. I'd say 2015-2016 was surely the best era for GTA Online. It was already expanded, and we've got more activities, but at the same time the freeroam nonsense didn't reach the current level, pointlessly militarized vehicles weren't pushed like they are now, and there was no massive cheater problem basically ruining the game and alienating people, encouraging them to play in solo public sessions exclusively.

That definitely was my favourite period of time to play.

You guys can B&M all you want, but I love these military DLCs. I love the new aircraft, the new hangar, bunker, facility, I love everything. Even if stupid retards can grief you with these items, this was always like that (you can own a Adder, but some dickbag would always turn up in their chrome Adder and shove a sticky bomb up your arse). The public freemode work? It sucks, I do agree, but honestly this just makes solo playing even more fun with these updates. Have you ever done a DDH prep in a solo public? It's glorious. I did the Rescue ULP prep (not setup) in a solo and it was a breeze with me jamming out to the soundtrack in my Buzzard blowing up sh*tty little ballsacks in their lowriders. That was probably the most fun I've had in the game for a while, to be honest.

 

 

Alright, the Freemode Update sucked, but I do like the new events. If they kept the old ones along with the new ones (that'd mean you'd get Crate Drops, Smuggler Planes, and Armoured Trucks alongside everything else), then it'd be an awesome update imo.
