Preferred Partner doesn't work.

So I joins a buddy's target race. We get to the menu of the next track. I have him as my preferred partner, he has me as his preferred partner, race starts and we get paired with random people.

 

This has to get fixed, people want to play with their friends and preferred partner being broken is literally a death nail in this new game mode.

 

 

 

Also why am I kicked out if my random partner leaves? I couldn't get put into spectate so I can find a new partner next race, I get kicked if my partner is a random and leaves? Who at Rockstar thought that was a good game design?

 

 

If these issues get fixed this Target Assault could be much more fun.

Fixed? It's not broken. Look at it this way, each update needs to bring new content for all of us, heisters, racers, stunters, griefers, even them dirty youtubers, so R* supports youtubers like DatSaintsFan who makes R* logic videos with new content like this ...and you get to pretend to have fun not playing with your friends, getting kicked for no reason then questioning everythinig about life before turning to the forum for relief.

Just worked for me. Full lobby. I found the next highest level guy and set him to my preferred partner. We we're partnered up.

Probably didn't work for the other guy that set him as his preferred partner

 

It's probably a reason why it's called preferred partner and not guaranteed partner but I haven't been on gta after this was released so I don't know how it is or works

I'd prefer this if it could apply to other game-modes. Also sick of being a high level but always getting paired with the low levels who have no idea what their doing in the other game-modes. I'd rather not have to suffer because of my team-mate not knowing what to do or just their general incompetence.

Maybe your buddy used the "please keep me away from this guy" option.

Sounds silly but might be that whoever chooses preferred partner ends up on the gun of the player they chose or someone elses gun, try having only one of you chose it. I think whoever is driving shouldn't touch that option, just a guess, i haven't played that mode yet.

 

Edit: Some other dudes in freeroam had the same issue so I suggested only only the gunner should chose that and they said it worked after. Not sure if it was a fluke but the way I see it R* probably script the player who chooses that option to "piggyback" the preferred player, so the preferred player needs to be available to be piggybacked, by not choosing that option.

2) role DIFFERENT than your desired partner. Just decide who is always going to be a driver first, or a gunner first.

I havent had this issue, luckily. Played with randoms. they tend to stay if youre doing good. Woon 2, 2nd place another. Adds up when its 2x

Me and my friend are in same crew, both preferred partners, different roles - got thrown to randoms.

^ Levels don't mean much. I played target assault for ten hours with randoms. Two level 300+ guys decided to turn left or right when the checkpoint and minimap told to go straight. Level 200+ couldn't hit a barn door if he tried. I drove at least two city blocks while he was shooting non-stop and he didn't hit any targets and those things are everywhere.

 

Then I had level 5 and level 9 guys who drove better and also were better shooters. Makes me wonder what those level 200+ and 300+ guys actually do when they play the game.

They're free mode warriors who only know how to use 4 buttons. How a person dresses can tell you a lot about their play style.
