Does changing from Playstation to Xbox make sense?

Hi all,

 

Ive been pondering this for a few weeks now, but now it's time to ask the experts;

 

Ive been loyal to playstation for quite some time now, having got a ps3 and ps4, I think they're brilliant consols, but ive always been abit of a Microsoft fanboy, desktop computers, laptops and even phones, sony on the other hand, anything of sony that I have owned has been rubbish, car audio, mobile phone.

 

I know both consols have pros and cons, also considering that majority of my mates are on xbox, and that xbox has that one extra game I'm interested in playing, forza , with both gta and mad max available on both consols.

 

my only sticking point is that the playstation is a better consol, what is everyones thought? should I stick with playstation or try xbox for a while?

Can't you just have both consoles? Why the "one or the other" mindset if you already got a PS4?

The only reason I don't own an Xbox is because none of their exclusives entice me. If you did sell your PS4 would you miss any games that are exclusive to that console?

 

If most of your friends are on the other console I'd probably say it's the better choice for you, personally. Depends what you value the most.

These days there's very little reason to switch to xbox if you ask me. Besides the fact that Microsoft's console has fewer exclusives, most of them get a PC version nowadays anyway (like Forza for example). On the other hand PS4 players have a lot to look forward to this year in terms of exclusives. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter what system you play on, but what you're able to play in terms of games that should be the deciding factor.

Get an xbox if you want one. I had a PS3 and and XBox 360 and I now have a PS4 and a XBone. You sound like you just want to start a console war.

Only reason i can think of to switch to Xbox would be if all your friends play on Xbox and you're the loner on PS4.

Most of my Xbox playing friends have switched to PS4, so for me it's not an issue.

I have both. Why not just have both consoles. Most tvs these days have enough ports so that you can have them hooked up at the same time. If I had to choose I would go with PS4 because their exclusives to me can't be beat.

I would save a bit longer and use a PC for directX games. Though with the escalated costs, if there are games you can't play on PS4 but can play on Xbox, you might want to do that instead of buy a PC right now. I'd save for a while and if the gpu prices don't go back to normal, then buy the console.

The only 'expert' here is you. Surely the only thing that decides which console is the 'better' one is the one that has the exclusives and services that appeal to you and only you. You state that the Xbox has the exclusive that appeals to you the most, and that most of your friends are on the Xbox, so surely this would be the ideal decision to make.

 

Apart from going down the typical 'system war' this type of topic would only start, I don't see how random people on a forum would be able to decide what makes you happy.

If you got the chance to try the Xbox for a while as you wrote then go for it, I say. Play with your mates, check the games and decide if it's the best console for you.

I have both, i tend to prefer to play sports games or shooters on xbox and everything else on ps

Go with what you want my friend. It is common that we need acceptance from other people if we are hesitant to buy or get something.

 

I'd say get the Xbox. If you don't like it, you can always sell it.

Because you can't transfer.. I would be playing on PC at times (not all the time) if you could transfer but you can't

Best woulld be to have both, if you can afford it. Xbox has better picture quality and better backwards compatibility.

I myself mostly stick to Sony because I mostly play old PS2 games since new games suck anyway. bUT i am considering getting an Xbox too

 

Sony or Microsoft - that depends on particular game. Some are better on Sony consoles while others are better on Microsoft platforms including PC-

 

Ideally it is good to have both.

You're being vague. What do you mean PS4 is the better console? Better in terms of what?

 

Personally I decide based on the exclusives. Whatever platform has the most appealing exclusives, gets my money.

 

The PS4Pro used to be the best place to be both for exclusives and thirdparty games. But with the XB1X you have another option IF you care mostly about third party games.

 

Ask yourself two questions:

 

1) Do you care about Playstation or Xbox exclusives? If so, which do you prefer?

2) Do you care more about third party games or the exclusives you answered in question 1? If you care more about third party, then go with the XB1X.

Not sure what you're on about, but Xbox online is far more better than PS. It's pretty well known fact lol

The 360/PS3 lasted 7/8 years. What happened was; 4k was on the brink of coming out but the problem is that from 2013 and 2017 it wasn't possible, so they had to fill the gap with the Xbox One and PS4. There was no way they could push the 360/PS3 for another 4 years.

 

 

PS4Pro and X1X need to last at least 5 years. Can't be turning this sh*t into cell phone manufacturing.

 

 

Also, Sony jumped the gun on trying to do 4k with their Pro. Should've waited another year, which is why I coin it Semi-pro lol

Given the PC-like architecture of both consoles, XB1X and PS4 Pro will stay relevant even after new consoles are released. They'll just be a little less powerful. I can't imagine the PS5 being much more powerful than the XB1X if they finalized the CPU\APU design already.

Latest I was reading was that the next generation of console could be seen around the 2020 mark, meaning details could start leaking next year. Seems about right when you think that 6/7 years is about average between each generation release.

Is that not what the Pro and X set out to do anyway? With the price range on them, it's going to be hard to upgrade majorly without having the prices rocket way above normal.

That's because we went from SD to HD. That's a far bigger leap than HD to 4k

 

 

Plus, the 360 was even ahead of the computer market, so that helped a lot, too.

I think MS consoles have better UI, are more user friendly in general and MS are communicative with their fanbase and they listen and such but it is an absolute no contest when it comes to exclusives; Sony has it all in spades.
