GTAO Kryptonite

You're amazing when it comes to shooting AFK players with a sniper rifle. But, can you take out a player flying around on an a Pegassi Oppressor?
And you're a genius at blowing up police cars with a Rhino tank, but can you blow up a Rhino tank with a police car?
of course, everyone is in awe of your legendary driving skills, but can you maintain those skills with every vehicle - even a Declasse Rhapsody?

You are the epitome of the archetypal GTAO player... except for one thing.

There's that one thing that holds you back. That one thing you just never got the hang of, are just awful at, or avoid because you just can't stand it.

That's your GTAO Kryptonite. The one weakness you have in the game. The thing that drags you down and keeps your experience from being at its peak.

For me, there are a few. I am a horrible pilot and I know it. Sure, I'm fine when no one else is in the sky, but as soon as there is, I crash.
Racing is also my kryptonite, despite how much I enjoy it. My current stats are like, 185 wins vs 850 losses. I like to believe I came in 2nd place a lot. <sigh>

For some players, it's griefers. For others it's battling shakers & rollers. Still, others can't ride a motorcycle to save their lives.

What is your GTAO Kryptonite and how do you traverse the world to work around it?

Dealing with Hydras and Lazers.

 

Even with something like the Heavy Sniper MKII with Explosive Rounds or a Pyro to even the odds, most of the time I commit a mistake and get turn into beef stew as a consequence.

Freemode PvP stuff...

I have never really liked that freemode nonsense and I have adopted this idea, that killing lower level players is wrong and using explosives is for pussies, so even with "since day one" experience I am not a competitive freemode warrior. Like I said, I don't like or want to fight with people in freemode, but sometimes I feel I should defend other people from griefers. (I usually end up just distracting griefers with various tactics.)

 

So without that freemode PvP experience, I have never really learned to snipe or to use explosives effectively.

PvP gunplay. I'm decent when it comes to taking out NPCs, but as soon as there's another player on the other side of that pile of meshes and textures, my aim is worse than a coffee-flavored gumdrop. I don't know what it is, but I'm just awful at it in Online. Doesn't happen in games like Halo or Team Fortress 2, where I've been called "scary," so I have no idea what GTA breaks in me.

 

And I love racing in Rhapsodys! It's such a fun little car, probably because it feels like a big car.

Piloting planes in PvP, both ground attack and dogfighting. In chopper combat I'm confident in my ability to take on most opponents or at least hold them at bay but once I'm flying something with fixed wings I tend to fall apart. I'm a competent pilot generally but I've just never been able to get the angles right for consistently swooping down on ground targets, getting the kill, and not crashing in the process. I'm okay at bombing but that's about it.

 

At dogfighting things are even worse. I understand the principles involved in theory but in practice I just can't execute. If I don't get the kill on the initial merge then 9/10 times I'm either shot down or disengage inconclusively. I'm in awe of some of the videos I see pilots make because I'm straight up hopeless.

 

I'm lucky in that my weakness isn't a mandatory aspect of GTAO. I've got at least a half dozen choppers that can get the job done when I want death from above and when a jet is causing me problems while I'm groundborne then I'll put my homing launcher and heavy sniper to use long before I'll go for a plane of my own.

I have a few weak areas but I'd say the thing I'm probably worst at is any kind of combat involving a vehicle. I never do publc freeroam so it isn't an issue there but I'm dreadful at vehicle deathmatches which I've always tried to avoid and I would always shy away from regular deathmatches involving tanks and the like as well. I've kind of moved on from deathmatches to adversary modes anyway now but needless to say I still avoid all the vehicle combat adversary modes such as Deadline, Turf Wars, Vehicle Vendetta etc.

Gta shooting is rng based, not ability, that's why it's best to avoid it.. unless you are using the auto sniper or the heavy sniper (and the minigun which is also op in damage dealt even to vehicles) which are in fact ULTRA precise with no bullet drop due to gravity, the rest of the weps are like in fortnite, shots go wherever they want.

Just swap session, repurchase the crates lost, and launch the sell mission again, you'll get another one, or avoid selling more than 28 boxes at once, whichever you like the most.

My krypto would be confronting try hards at their level (marksman rifle or heavy sniper dancing), i just dislike the game mechanic and since i don't want to become like them i just avoid the fight, and use a vehicle to get them or swap session.

 

I'm also weak using planes to kill things because i'm not in the air that often so i don't get the practice needed for it.. just decent to not crash easily, but not great.. i would give myself a 6 out of 10 there.

Falling asleep whilst flying (i blame the music that comes on when airborne) then crashing and burning.

 

Also my hovering finger resting on the handbrake when winning races. I've done that at least 4 times during these new stunt races, the worst being just a few yards from the finish line and ending up 4th.

 

Basically my own lack of concentration is my kryptonite.

Tryhard combat. I just... can't. When people aren't idiots, things work out as they should. When they're doing the Bowie and Jagger thing, it's a lot less fun.

 

I try to solve this by just leaving. It works most of the time.

For me, it's just how sluggish and poorly designed the menus are. I've gotten killed in both pvp and pve so many times just because I got tripped up in menus.

Quality control.

I'm the sort of person who, once they see an error, bug, whatever, can't then ignore or un-see it - so things like recent clothing textures, a current bug affecting hairstyle textures, the gawd-awful state of cars like the Jester Classic, Lynx, etc., broken parts on the Itali GTB Custom, etc.? I can only play the game so long these days, before all those things rear their ugly heads, and I'm unable to stay immersed in the game.

And it's not helped by R* Support being utterly useless in resolving things like that - and in general, the lack of care in certain areas makes me less than optimistic about the similar state of RDR2 and other future titles...

One word: LAG. I've been killed/denied kills by this mofo too many times. What really hurts is, that many of those, it might been induced by cheating scum.

Any pvp that involves anything thats exploitable. Landing gear down, inf explosives, using the map and having to play like its call of duty just kills it for me. Im ok at cod but i dont play it on a regular basis.

 

I also suck at fighting at night, i dont like first person it feels awkward as a fast paced shooter. I was great at gta4 it was slower paced, and the ammo was limited to where you could strategize. Now cover is useless, so is stealth. Crouch would be more effective. Now im complaining.. just not gud lol.

I really suck nowadays at RnG. Never been really good at it and realized I'm rusted recently, things changed with the vulgarization of MKII weapons/ammo, it feels more brutal now. So I just open interaction menu, and ask my Avenger to obliterate that dude who keeps rolling. Not trying to sound edgy or be placed in the "Worst type of players" though ;(
