I'm not sure I will be even playing Online by that time. Can't say the same thing about V, though. My plans are simple: to be far away from Online before the updates will cease.

I guess if GTAO is over i won't have to hold myself anymore and spend all my earnings that i accumulated over the updates. I will finally change my clothes and try the new ones since Finance and Felony. I guess it's gonna cost me around 15 millions just for this. Then it's going to be the Pegassus vehicules (25 millions) and finally get to try the cars that i never considered in buying because of the lack of space and interest (12 millions).

Then i'll be broke and i may play less regularly. Maybe trying RDR 2 is going to take over my multiplayer habits ? Who knows !

gta dlc stop will happen in a few months. a new cow is in town and it has alot of milk

i will be playing better games and laughing at rockstarfanboys ofc.

i am super hyped for mechwarrior 5 and "starfield" (they will show it at e3 and release end of 2018)

You do realize that better is in the eye of the beholder don't you?

Well I will probably move to far cry 5 and/or AC origins playing gta online from time to time when I feel like it. Anno 1800 and Metro Exodus are also coming out in 2018, so I got plenty of replacements.

Like any game, keep playing until I'm bored or the game shut down completely.

Still play many old games too. Though I'm keen for RDR2, it's not like I'll stop liking GTA, lol.

See if the final update is story driven, and has end credits roll after completing it, at least for the first time. Then it will be like so many games and have you free to wander around and replay anything you wish to.

Unless they add a new property, more heists or some weapon that can be used in some unforeseen way, most of the updates we currently get don't really affect the actual gameplay anyway. So I don't see what the big difference would be. For example, we just got an update this month with new cars and races but is GTA actually any different than it was three months ago? Not really.

I figure most people would just play until they get bored/attain whatever they wanted to attain (that they couldn't before) and then play something else.

Depends:

If by some utter goddamn miracle R* makes an update or two that fixes some of the bigger problems that have kept me from enjoying the game like I used to (one car done right, some nicer clothing/hairstyles for a change, a couple of minor bug fixes - that's really all it'd take as a bare minimum), then I might just keep playing indefinitely - I don't need constant shiny new gimmicks in order to make my own fun (bit like how I can jump into the likes of Crackdown or GTA III, and always have a good time).

On the other hand, without that kind of update/fix, R* could promise new GTAO content until the end of time, and I'd probably be better off walking away from R* games entirely. That's not hyperbole, either - I'm increasingly concerned by the level of polish (or lack thereof...) with recent GTAO updates, as well as the kind of things R* continues to neglect. None of that paints a particularly encouraging picture for RDR2 or 'Red Dead Online', and I genuinely worry that this is the state of R* titles now, with expensive gimmicks and 'amusement park ride' design coming at the expense of player freedom and creativity, and a lot of paper over the cracks. :/

So yeah: either R* turns the boat around (in which case I'm happy to keep playing GTAO indefinitely, regardless of whether updates continue, and get on board the RDR2 hype train), or they stay on this current trajectory and I consign them to the same 'don't touch with a ten foot pole for at least the next several years' pile as EA.

Move to GT Sport until a better sandbox game is available and probably sell my game copy.

Though I'm not really sure about selling the game or not, I did stuck around last gen for a over a year and a half without updates, and with mods everywhere, after all. Though I'm definitely making the move to GT Sport.

I already decided to not purchase and not make the move to RDR2, unless the opinions on the game are really, really good and they tone down with micro transactions.

I can't see R* realistically fully stopping with updates until GTA 6 comes out, or at least close to it.

That being said, I'll keep logging in now & then to play with friends until the next GTA installment.

What Are Your Plans For When Updates End?

3NDp43n.jpg

So, in the time I've browsed this thread, I've seen atleast three different instances of the rumor that "the next update is going to be the last," and whether it is from credible sources, a random leaker, or just hearsay, people always act like that's the ultimate ending to GTA Online. That, tomorrow, we'll all see the post on the Newswire saying "Thanks for playing GTA Online! We hope to see you next year in GTA VI."

Now, the reality of whether or not Online is really going to die someday soon or if it would even stop when the last drip-fed car or adversary mode came to Los Santos is not the question. What I am wondering is... What are your plans for when updates end? Are you going to move on to other games just because Online isn't receiving new content? Will you keep playing until the day they pull the plug on the Social Club? What do you model your plans on?

I'm curious as to what people think it will be like (seems like an apocalypse, some of us are so scared), and what peoples' plans really are, if they have any. Feel free to formulate right now, and share what you can. This thread is meant to both ask and collect!

My personal plans for when Online finally reaches its end is to sell off my entire car collection and drive my favorite vehicle - an Albany Emperor - off Del Perro Pier. My friend has told me that he plans to buy a bottle of champagne and celebrate the end of his life in Los Santos. But what do you plan to do? Are there any celebrations in order? Has the thought even crossed your mind? Think about it!

Already have my template set out. Agnes is my buzzard lol.

This post makes me depressed.. I literally don't know what I would do. Why would you bring this up. I'm not mad, I'm just scared.

Same thing I'm doing now. Playing from time to time. Putting some good yacht rock on, boot up the game and cruise around in one of the nice oldtimers in the California sun until it goes dark, then go home, lay down in my bed, shut the game off and move on with my day.

Knowing R* they'll probably just wipe everyone's account when they stop releasing DLC and be like 'now you can prestige the game and grind from scratch again...'

I will keep playing until I get bored, servers close, consoles get modded or the game is just too broken to continue playing. If I'm still enjoying the game I'm not going to stop playing just because new stuff isn't being added.

If they unlock the mission editor at the end I'll be making missions for the next 5 years until a good game comes out

I think that support and updates, even if scaled back, will continue for GTAO until there is a new GTA title released. It's Rockstar's flagship franchise so I don't think that they will abandon it until something else is there to replace it. RDR2, whilst a promising looking game, has more of a niche appeal than GTA. The western period and theme won't suit everybody, and will limit the type of DLC that can be introduced in my opinion.

I don't know much about creating games, but I would guess that building games from the ground up is where all the costs are. The infrastructure for this iteration of GTAO is already in place, so the update costs vs the money they generate make them a no-brainer.

I've already kind of dabbled with FiveM. If updates to GTA:O dry up completely, that's probably where i'll be. I'm also praying that they do things better with RDR2, because i'm overall pretty excited for that game.

They still haven't announced if rdr2 is running dedicated servers or not so we still don't know if it'll be a usable online game or junk. Everything hinges on that announcement. if it's just another cheap peer to peer game then it isn't worth ordering.

I'll probably substitute GTAO for RDR (and any other games that grab me) + continue indulging in my other pursuits (guitars, football, movies, whatever)...until GTA6/GTAO2 eventually arrives. Then everything else will cease to exist (for a while).

Honestly, if GTAO ends, that'll be it from me. RDR2 won't live up to the life GTAV/O had, especially online. And if the current economy in GTAO is any indicator, when VI drops it will just be a massive grind for every little smidge of content. No thanks. I've been content living the high life, and don't want to give that up.

As for the one dude referring to RDR2 as the "new cow with a lot of milk", it won't have anywhere near the content of GTA, and thats because of how the game is set (1800s). No cool modern cars to customize. No clothing varying from hipster to militarized to business casual. The setting will probably be significantly more dull than GTA, seeing as it is set out in the desert plains, after all. Unless they do some crazy, out of this world sh*t (literally), that breaks the setting, GTA will reign supreme.

Don't disagree that GTA appeals much more. But DLC being limited, I don't...

Futuristic Adversary Modes, lol. (We got a Delorean after all).

I do agree, for story mode, it just won't appeal. But I do feel there's room to make online a lot crazier, if GTA:O is anything to go by, lol. Many playing GTA:O never played GTA V too. And as the last RDR shows, though it can't compete as universally as a GTA, it still made big cash and was game of the year. Many folk think because it's all horses and sh*t, RDR2 is doomed to fail, lol. These guys are genuinely daft too. (Not aimed at you, lol. Many take shots like this though, bless 'em).

Map and animals/hunting. 2 of the biggest requests for GTA:O, it's all gonna be over there. A fresh, larger, thoroughly detailed map, a story mode for those that want, and huge potential for the online part. Fishing and crafting could too. Genuinely, many little things could come. Poker!!!. Something as simple as some late night online poker between a fish/hunt/Battle at the Alamo, lol, could be all that holds it together, but it's PvP based, any game that's versus 'random joe' is always appealing. DM's, Racing, mini-games, the lot.

For all the negative I've found with GTA:O this last year, they do deliver a diverse and deep game that just grew and grew, and I still play my game out there. Not all was for all, but there's just so much out there that anything's possible. (Good or bad, lol). Potential's bigger than ever with the far larger audience too. RDR was 10 years ago, many just never even saw it. Good games are good games. If the gamers and 'commercial press' rate it highly, the followers tend to follow, lol.

For me, certainly a game to go into cautiously too. After the way some things with GTA:O went, I'm hoping for more flexibility and options. But that first adventure there is gonna be just awesome. Ever since GTA III, that part is irreplaceable. The not knowing. Can't wait.

Though, to some fans of previous RDR might not be so excited by Futuristic Adv. Modes, I'm not too much - Glitches mainly - But horses for courses. :)

Peace.
