Why won't they learn...? How To Keep DLC Updates In Their Place

I just had to make a post about this phenomenon, because it's just that insane. Three years it's been, and just look at the comments section of scripthookv, LOL. Just sort through it a bit, and you will plainly see what I mean. It's literally like stepping into Romper Room.

 

Since GTA V was released for the PC on April, 2015, there have been approximately 40 DLC/patch updates, 40. Each and every time the game updates, the comments come pouring in about how their game won't start without removing input8.dll, LOL. 40 times they have had to shore their sh*t up to prevent updates from even being a thing, 40 times they have had to learn how to mod their sh*t without breaking their games. 40 times has not been enough for you? It's truly frightening to see just how so much of the community are really so simple.

 

So, rather than expect these simpletons to figure it out on their own, I leave here simple tips to keep your sh* straight, so you never have to dread another update again.

First, and foremost, STOP allowing the updates! All these DLC updates do is add more unnecessary bloat. The combined bloat for all these stupid DLC updates has introduced new problems for users like limited DLC add-ons which did not use to be such a problem as it is today. They seem to be on the up, where DLC add-on limits are now a thing, and thus are always in search of a modified gameconfig to stretch said limits - yet they consistently allow R* updates, of course further adding to the problem, LOL.

The DLC updates are filled with crap for console fan-boys mainly, unless you are one of these "lore-friendly-first" types who play online on the PC. Does ANY PC-user play online anymore? Everyone on PC should have long since known that FiveReborn is where it's at by now - free from all the griefing-tryhard-cheating-noobs that have turned online-play into the most toxic and obnoxious stomping grounds for the squeakers and wanna-bes ever.

Many falsely believe that they need to allow updates or script mods will break, OR, new script mods won't work, LOL. So not true, if only they really knew. I stopped allowing updates after Import/Export version 1.944.1 and am sorry I allowed it to go that far.

What to do -

1.) Make a shortcut of the game folder on your desktop

2.) Make a folder on desktop, naming it "GTA V Files For DLC Updates"

3.) Now, open the shortcut you made, and copy the update folder, gta5.exe, gtavlauncher.exe, the installers folder, installscript.vdf, and steam_api64.dll file to your "GTA V Files For DLC Updates" folder.

4.) Done!

So DLC update happens one day? Open your GTAV Game shortcut on your desktop, copy (DO NOT DRAG AND DROP!!) those files from your "GTA V Files For DLC Updates" folder into the GTAV game folder, and say "yes" to overwrite! Do this for each and every update, and NEVER worry again over a broken game that forces you to put all your mods back, and has you waiting for a dang scripthookv update again. My older scripthookv loads every script written since Dec 2016 (last time I allowed update) without issue. Don't believe me? See below my scripthookv and vdotnet logs respectively -
