You will use your first car for a long time. Steal a good looking & fast car, like felon GT. Usually spawns at Rockford & Vinewood hills. I used my felon GT for very long time when I started the game.

Sadly you can't steal & use sports car from traffic, your options are kinda limited.

Btw elegy RH8 is free, when you get a garage you can take and use it.

Best advice I can give is put your money towards something more stable and less frustrating like Checkers or Monopoly

do you get any money to start with in the game, and what is the best way to earn money fast

No, you start with nothing. Do contact missions to start. They're fairly easy and predictable after you do them a couple of times.

There are several guides on this sight, try the search box.

I got Duke of Death 1st its free from Warstock cash and Carrie and its been a good mission runner as you upgrade it and I'm still using it at level 91 I also nicked a Phoenix which is my favoret car in the game but I use that mostly for cruising the Duke for Missions. When I started playing the game I did some races got the cheapest garage and then got the Duke from there I did missions.

The free elegy, kuruma armored and insurgent pick up custom. Owning these and you have better armory than most starting gtao player. You can even skip IPUC if you only do missions.

These days I'd go for the Duke of Death for a first car since it's free, fast and can smash traffic.. It does have a hole in it where Rosckstar screwed up but not everyone knows where that is so you wont likely be shot out of it much due to the hole.

The duke o death is only free for returning players pal.

@OP

My first car was a obey tailgater. I keept it from the tutorial race until I were able to insure it, so I did not spend a single $ to get it.

Fairly decent car, decent customisation, 4 seats, basicly all you need as a starter.

Another tip would be: Do not buy a 2 or 6 car garage/apartment!

It might be tempting to get a place to stay as soon as possible, but save up for a 10 car apartment at del pero (its 205k $ if I remember correctly). It later on opens your way to the heist missions, and it has enough room to park some usefull vehicles.

The second vehicle you get, should be a bike. Either a Bati or a Akuma. Both are decent bikes and very usefull.

Is it free for everyone or just for returning players?

Seems like the answer is in the post above

OP, see if you can get Classique to maybe help you with the returning player thing, I know he had a service earlier but don't know if he does it anymore. If you get the bonus you'll get several vehicles free

When you begin, in the tutorial it'll ask you to steal a car.

My personal recommendation would be a Dominator, but anything under $100k and not a DLC car is free to be stolen. (I love that car). Zion or Sentinel XS are lookers too, IMO. And many cheap muscle cars out there to nab up. The Ruiner and Phoenix are 2 you can't buy in-game as regular cars, Futo too. Those are sweet little gems to begin with for variety without spending big.

The Elegy RH8 is free is you link to the R* social club. But the Duke O'Death that some say is free, is only free for those returning from old generation GTA to current, as transfers are closed, you have to start on X1, so the car will cost, and it's dearer than an armoured Kuruma.

Outside of that, I'll let you have fun finding out, as for me, that's the game. There's many a guide out there for fastest in each class for racing and such, but for now, just race non-custom.

Only 99% sure about this but returning player bonus isn't related to transfer but more to having finished tutorial on both lg and current gen with the accounts linked to your social club account.

Might be a better explanation somewhere around here..

Carbo as it's cheaper than a Kuruma and bulletproof

For missions yes, Carbo is the best car in the game!

Honestly the first thing I would do is head out to Sandy Shores and try to find yourself a Sultan.

0_0.jpg

It may look a bit generic, but it's fast, it handles great, and it has room for four people. And plus if you feel like it you can upgrade it into the Sultan RS at Benny's Original Motorworks. Also the tracker and insurance are pretty cheap. Should your Sultan get destroyed by something you've done, it'll only be $150 to replace.

Absolutely, my bad.

Did this myself as I tried a 2nd account, and I had our resident friendly chap help set my friend up on a new account for him. Unfortunately, my buddy didn't last. But absolutely, if folk can get access to old gen copy now they're on current, they just need to sign in to PSN/Xlive on old gen, do prologue, save at Franklin's bed, then return to current gen. Free stuff!.

Basically, you get a free elegy once you have a garage. That covers most of what you need.

I would suggest a 4-door as your second car (or first if you don't get the elegy yet) so that you can pick up your buddies in missions in case things get rough and their car stops working.

My suggestions for 4-doors:

Tailgater - cuz u know, Audi

Granger - can hold more than 4 people (4 more hanging on the sides)

Buffalo - pretty beefy car

Felon - decent if you want to race coupes, also pretty nice looking

Sultan - if you ever become really rich and you want that 2-door GTA variant, hold on to this one

Schafter - because I don't dislike Benefector like I used to

It definitely wasn't for me when I tested it about 4 months ago, on PC. Been shot out of it many times. :/

The Wandering Hunter

The carbonizzare is bulletproof?

used to be vs ai.

against autoaim it isn't, and it's possible they nerfed the carb at some point.

also, as a first car id get a muscle car that you can't get on the ingame internet.

phoenix dominator buffalo 1 etc

then get a 10 car garage and get a bike for under 10k, or a couple, an elegy, a 4 door, a sand king to spawn modded sand kings to sell (search that) and go off-roading, and any other cars under 100k that you like that were part of the game at launch.

new cars are overpriced as f*ck btw, and i have all the stuff needed to make money as quickly as possible.

also i recommend the rumpo custom, its cheap and has bulletproof glass. although i like vans.

also also if you like off-road stuff the rusty rebel is by far the best value for money there is.

Even at £3k it's a rip off...just grab it off the streets if you're that desperate to own this hunk o' sh*te. Ruiner was my favourite for years, but just grab a car you like the look/feel of. It's just for getting from A-B at the moment.

Is the treasure hunt still a thing? If so, sign up on the rockstar social club to get free Elegy RH8s and a sawn-off shotgun. Then, if possible, complete the treasure hunt, get 50 headshots to recieve 250,000. Use that to buy highend apartment like del perro hts. Do heists and get either kuruma or insurgent. If you want a hand, add me. My GT is the same as my username (minus the underscore [ _ ]). Shoot me a message saying you added me from here. As far as street cars go, felon gt or dominator are good.

elegy for racing, its free, duke of death for free roam and missions, san andreas is a dangerous place, also free, then when you've got enough money upgrade to a faster car and a armoured karuma.

I'd get Yosemite and Pisswasser Dominator for muscles, Cheetah and Turismo Classics for the sports classics class. Get a free Elegy RH8 for sports with an aim for an Ocelot Pariah for both an edge and because it's a fun car to drive. Those are all ideal choices if you're looking to win some races and unlock vehicle upgrades and paints.

Zentorno.

Cheap, fast, fun, good looks & sound, competitive for supers racing, bulletproof from the back.

AND no one drives it anymore so you'll be unique :p

People should stop suggesting the DoD. Its not free to non-returning players. Buy the 25,000 cheap garage and then you can choose any vehicle off the in game website for a starter car instead of street cars. Also, I forgot to recommend the Bati 801. Fast as all hell for 15,000 means its a mint choice for new players. Much more affordable than any supercar. Btw, if contact missions arent your jazz, you can register as a vip when you have 50,000 in the bank. This allows you to do free roam work in the session and spawn free low end vehicles.
