Make Racing Great Again!

Ok, it was never great. But in its heyday, there were some great racing leagues that had good clean races. Until they became douchey about the races they ran and when, and I left them all. Theres no reason we cant get good racing out of public races, but the racing HAS to be overhauled.

I use to collect the fastest car in each class to race with. Now IDGAF, and I still havnt used up all my garage space yet. The suggestions I have are realistic and keep Rockstars money making schemes intact mostly.

1. Pay Mission Creators for their Content. I really dont think we can make racing businesses as a thing the way the gunrunning and etc is in public lobbies. But outside of the lobby, where we go to specific jobs, you can make money as a job creator in this game. The pricing needs to be overhauled too, but I'll list things in the current inflated economy. Each job that you create, each time its played by 4 players or more, and lasts 5+ min, awards the creator 10k. You make good content that keeps the game alive, you should get PAID for highly successful content. If other players use your material for their own gimmicks and videos, all the more money for you, theyre basically paying you to use your material. With that as a payday, you can create the tracks you like. Get a million qualifying plays, thats 10 billion in income.

2. Bigger Paydays for Realistic settings. If you play Standard, No Catchup, Slipstream 50% (There should be 2 versions IMO) it pays more per position than gimmicky no contact, catchup, 100% slipstream. Each setting type you make more realistic increases the pay, not all as a rule set. When the money is in real racing settings, they will be played publicly more. But you have to add good pay bonuses for each clean lap (on top of finishing position) to encourage clean racing. If you stay still for more than 15 seconds, or dont hit the next checkpoint within 60 seconds (to prevent backwards driving)[creators will have to make sure CPs are no more than 45 sec apart] you instantly ghost then get DQd. Make these the paydays and rules for racing, and public racing will clean up substantially. And final paydays are based on how many players STARTED the job, so quitters cant bring the purse down if you start like 30 racers and only 5 finish.

3. Car characteristic tuning. Im frankly shocked theyve released so many cars that can barely be different from each other in their classes at this point. The cars can only go so fast in this game, so the top speed arms race is fake at this point. Each car characteristic can be tuned in your CEO office garage, so you have to pay to be a shop owner for this privilege. Tune each handling characteristic on a 10 point scale, and you get a total points budget per class. The Super class gets the largest points budget to distribute. Once you get the settings you like, you hard bake those characteristics into the car. No car can be a 10/10 in every category. A racing player will still want to buy multiple cars of the same type to have for different types of tracks. To help make Rstar money, you only get to adjust the characteristics once per car after you buy it. Cars should sell at 50% new value, so if you dont want to own multiples of one car, you still take a hit to keep rebaking the same type of car. This will allow all the sweet cars we have to all be equally competitive within their class, and you tune them to your driving style and or track types, your choice. To be competitive in racing, AND you want to keep using your favorite car, you'll need 2-3 setups of that same car. That encourages car sales. Sure you could just own a total of 2-3 cars per class to compete, but we're all car collectors and you know you'll have 5 or so favorite cars per class, and then you'll want to have variations of that same car to come to the track with.

All these requests can be done IN this game if they program it. It should DEFINITELY be in the next GTA game. When you offer as much car variety as we now have in game, its a better thing to make a player want many of each class, instead of looking at a new car that comes out, and thinking you can skip buying it because its not best in class. Do all of this, and this game could KILL any other racing game out there for the variety of racing types and the track creation freedom we have now.

Yeah right, like Rockstar wants clean racing in their game. Why else would the "clean lap" award be so small? They want racing like everything else in the game, bumping, banging, and grieving. I love the new stock cars for racing. I actually feel like I'm racing. Frankly, I hate the idiots that drive backwards on the tracks, or will sit still and wait for cars to come along then pull out to hit them. Before Rockstar does anything else, they should fix these mechanics. If a player drives backwards for more than a certain distance (some people legitimately miss a checkpoint and have to turn around) they get kicked out of the race or they turn ghost. A kick from race option would also be nice.

I dunno, realistic and GTA don't really go together.

I'd rather it stay Grand Theft Auto instead of Gran Theft Auto.

Keep the tweaking for actual racing games.

As for creators getting payed, I like the idea. But 10k is way too much.

6000 races in and I still don't understand what that "Clean Lap" thing means.

NO car damage (I think), which means stay off the walls, and if you can stay off the other cars too, which encourages clean passes.

- Catchup should work backwards, it should boost the speed of the players behind 1st place instead of slowing down 1st place only. You could even have "tiers" of said boost depending on your position, players in last place could get the strongest boost and 2nd places could get close to none.

- Slipstream effect should be slower, I guess that's it. Slipstream isn't as problematic as Catchup IMO.

- It should be an option to ghost lapped players, to avoid trolling.

- Unpopular opinion: apply the advanced flags to all land vehicles, give each one a downforce multiplier value and either give the tyres can clip value to all cars or none.

Wouldn't make any difference unless set to Non-Contact.

I hate doing Hotring Races in non contact anyway, it ruins the f*cking purpose. Ramming and collisions I don't mind (they're funny as fk most of the time) since this is NASCAR inspired racing anyway and that's what happens but driving backwards or purposely ruining other people's cars deserves to have your disc snapped in f*cking half.

Good luck trying to host a race.

It takes way too long.

^ That too. Sometimes it's just f*cking impossible thanks to Rockstar's cancerous matchmaking. On call is the way to go.

I'm down, but we have to first stop using the "Make such and such Great Again" slogan. Nothing against Trump, he actually cracks me the f*ck up quite often still and I have no major qualms with him TBF, or no more than any other puppet *ahem* I mean President... it's just a VERY stale slogan.

Indeed though...fix these busted cars, get rid of curb boosting, get rid of catch up, and add free roam street racing. Those are my suggestions.

A kick from race option would also be nice.

There is. Press Start - view players - choose the player you want to kick and choose kick. If several players do that to one player that player will be kicked midrace.

^ Why anyone would want to do that mid race is beyond me lol

It's the only way to kick someone while doing a playlist since the host of the playlist can't kick someone while in the waiting lobby for whatever reasons.

You can kick someone in the lobby when not doing a playlist so why not just wait until the race is finished to kick someone? People wanna mess up their current race just to kick someone? lol

Never had an issue hosting a race.

Do one race alone and the next race a few people join. By 3rd race I almost always have at least 10 racers. Once you get a good group just turn off matchmaking.

I never have the patience for that. By the third race, with wait times and everything almost an hour as gone by and I just don't have hours and hours to play video games any more.

I was stuck racing a few low levels last night, I'd take two wins then pull over in the third race and let them battle for a win. But I don't need wins, I need full lobbies to get RP for my 2nd char.

Hosting takes longer than simply joining a lobby.

Some of us sit there for 20 minutes and only get one guy....

I agree with just hosting your own races, though it does take quite a while (and usually not a lot of people join anyway), and it doesn't fix the blocking or driving backwards problem. I host my own races with no catchup and no slipstream. Lots of people join and instantly leave when they see that, but whatever. I was in a Hotring race (7 laps) and was in first place for 5 of them, but ended up coming in second place because of catchup right at the very, very end. That was when I was done.

Have you seen the payouts for 1st with 30 cars on $x2 ? Yeah, second sucks big balls when you think you just wasted 7 long laps and missed out on a payday you DESERVED.

I personally don't mind finishing in the top five no matter what happens, given the nature of these tracks and the amount of people involved. He knew what he was getting into with catchup and slipstream on too. Besides, even if catchup was off a good racer could have easily slipstreamed off him too right before the finish.

More stunt and transform nonsense in your face:). Never happen. If it ever be possible, there could be physics straight from IV, to start from.

It was in the literal final stretch/straightaway on the last lap, so yeah, I was pretty pissed. F*cking hate being in first and looking at the split times as your lead shrinks and shrinks.

mmm chocolate

Catchup killed racing a long time ago.

they made up for it slightly when they added non-contact.

I seriously can't believe they thought it was a good idea to punish drivers who used skill to get ahead of everyone else in a race.

Is this The Guy?

I don’t think I’ve raced in nearly two years. Tried a race the other day and it was through a series of multi colored tunnels. It was fun but boy times have changed
