So How often do GTAF guys run into each other by accident?

Only one I'm aware of was a random, brief session I shared with @AlbanyEsperanto, whose in-game name is quite unique. When it comes to usernames, of course, it can get hard to recognize one string of letters and numbers from another. I would find it very hard to differentiate between "SHOKKERZ91" and "KWF1981" when just casually glancing over names, for instance, and at the rate these names go by in an average freeroam session, it can be like trying to catch a housefly in a swarm of cicadas.

 

If you're in a crew, of course you're going to see other members of the crew more often. They have the option of joining sessions with other crew members, and on top of that, it seems the matchmaking system tries to put players in sessions with friends or crewmates even when those options aren't selected. And platform makes a big difference! I'm on PC, but it looks like a lot of people on these forums are team Playstation, so finding that sort of thing out is key.

Yep, i land most of the time in sessions with friends. There is definitly a mechanic that favours sessions with friends when searching. That can be annoying when you try to find a new filled session.

More so, when you see your buddy found themselves a peaceful session, and by my chance landing there, I bring others in and chaos often reigns, lol.

Yeah, it happens all the time. That's why I have about 22 GTAF members on my friends list. I usually run into people I already know, but I sometimes meet new members.

 

Like for example, I could randomly jump into a public sessions and I guarantee I'll see someone like REAPERMrJones or xxi, hell I'll see The First Hunter and Samcrow if I jump on after 6 PM.

 

You guys are like weeds, but in the sense that you guys always pop up everywhere. You aren't annoying, my reality fits that role

Great thread!

 

I remember thinking this when I first joined the forums and sure enough as time went by I would notice some ‘prominent’ names in-game from here like mach1bud, yan and fun (not sure if it was actually them or not though) and many others which I have since befriended.

 

The best thing I ever did in GTA:O was probably joining the official GTAF crew as I’ve met so many cool, friendly and helpful people that really made the game much more enjoyable, shout out to all of you as there’s too many to mention

 

Also like to add that since joining GTAF crew i’ve noticed even more forum members and forum crews lurking in lobbies such as PBMO ya’ll are cool too, even though we had our misunderstandings in the past haha
