Now that DE is out I just wanted to say how much I've always appreciated the work done here ❤️

Okay so I haven't actually played DE but from what I've seen RoSA Reborn/Evolved blows DE out of the water in terms of terms of quality probably in most cases. Crazy to think a group of modders (original team, Clara) could do better than a literal multi billion dollar corporation. Yeah I understand that DE was developed by like 20 people (Grove Street Games LinkedIn page says 11-50 employees) but at the end of the day Take2 calls the shots and has the money to throw around. I do think Lighting/Vegetation looks good but yeah obviously for the most part it seems we all think there was a lot of unredeemed potential for DE. Makes me grateful for RoSA, the original team, and Clara for revivification and the work put in.

When the remaster was announced I thought that finally we would be able to put RoSa to rest. Sadly, the ''remastered textures'' are pure garbage. Most of them are really bad upscales (wich they don't even used artifact removal and dedither before the upscales, so the issues caused by original texture compression was keeped as well).  And the textures that they remade, most of them are atroucious, far worse than the originals. 

 

Some comparassions between RoSa Evolved and SA:DE:

So, for sure RoSa Evolved will be comming to SA:DE on 2022.

Obviously RoSa and the other texture projects are FAR superior to the garbage DE versions and I want to thank all the participants for their immense effort and love for the game, but one thing I want to point out is after seeing how badly DE treated the original art style is that even with RoSa sharp crispy new textures aren't everything and the definitive solution when it comes to texture upgrading.

While low res textures in the original may have been used primarily due to hardware limitations, they also set the art/visual style to some degree. They are less obtrusive to the player (makes you focus more on the character), look more dirty or worn out.

e.g. with your example of the pistol lady in SA. While it is clear that the DE version is just badly AI scaled up, it did however keep some original imperfections, brusies, blurring, etc. compared to the REMADE RoSa version which is just too clean and "perfect". The mexican hat in that mural in DE looks better/more trustworthy imo than in RoSA due to these factors.

Some imperfections are just meant to be there and go well with the art style.

And after all, we still want the people to notice that this is an old original game, just with some polish.

 

Same goes for things like reflections (although not related to RoSa). The new DE editions just pumped up car reflections all over the place to the point where it looks very ridiculous. Guess what, even in real life most cars don't retain their initial shine and especially not in deserty places like Las Venturas where the sand rubs of the polish.

So in conclusion, sharp new textures are welcomed in some cases, but in others they should be manually "deteriorated" and altered afterwards to make them just fit in with the overall visual design.

I've installed the most recent version of Rosa Project Evolved from MixMods, found here:

However, certain textures from it such as the mural in this screenshot simply do not show up in my game (I see the original instead):

Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong? I just dropped the Rosa folder with the .img files into my ModLoader folder, as the readme instructs.

Rosa project evolved still unfinished, the still work in progress. That why some texture maybe missing.

the latest RoSA evolved keeps crashing on the cemetery scene in the first mission. i surely hope that it would be fixed 🥺👉👈

I found a bug in the mission SMALL TOWN BANK there are no texture on the safe inside the bank but it become normal when i remove RoSa Evolved.

Upon launching GTA:SA, downgraded to 1.0 with this mod, it's giving me this:

How hard would it be to port a mod like this to the new DE version? It would be interesting to see how higher quality assets would look in a modern engine.

still need to fix some minor issues, and it's a beta, so more bugs are expected. I plan to recreate all terrain texturues next year. I think I'll make a english thread here soon.

The new RoSA (evolved) not including the fixes.

 

Use old RoSA (from this forum). 

 

In my option old RoSA more better than new one. (When Rosa + AI upscale come out, its good but somehow make game bit lag. But the good poin you can change the texture like you one. But using old RoSA give you better gameplay since not lag).

RoSA evolved:
-adds 2796+ new textures made from scratch.
-A lot of the new textures was made using as base the textures that rockstar itself used to make the game, they are the originals in HD.
-We, during a entire year made a textures source hunt on our discord server, wich generated almost 3 thousand messages.
-for the first time ever, covers the interiors and cutscenes objects.

You can preffer to use a old RoSA but by doing that you will lose literally thousands of new improvements and additions.
There's absolutely nothing better in the old versions of the mod.
''but bug x and y didn't happend in the old version'', well, it's a wip mod, bugs are expected and will be fixed in the future, there's no serious bug to force people to downgrade it to a absurdly inferior version.
I collected the bug reports and plan to release a new version of the mod soon.

I asked .M.S to replace that link with RoSA Evolved. There's no reason to keep the old version online and he agrees. He has changed the link now.

Not really, new RoSA is way more optimized since it uses the optimized map as base. The files size are smaller and it requires less performance power. (keep the .txd inside the .img , don't extract since modloader slowdown the loading if the .txd are loose files). There's also a 512x512 version of the mod, wich needs even less performance power.

what fixes? what more needs to be fixed? I'm aware of all bug reports made until now, and I'm going to fix them in the next release.

After uploading the Rosa Reborn mod in the first mission "Big Smoke", unfortunately the cutscene does not work, the screen goes black and nothing can be done. Anyone know how I can fix ? I will be grateful for your response.

this already fix with updated mixsets. just remember to config memory to 2048.

you need modloader to install updated rosa. old rosa can do without modloader but its Already deleted.

just read instruction steps to use rosa and use updated modloader.

yeah uhm my modloader is not working, whenever i install modloader it just crash so im tryng to install this without modloader. and about rosa reborn the gta3.img in rosa reborn is so light its just 300mb and so are the gta_int and cutscene.img maybe that's causing the crash, bcoz the original gta3.img pf the game is 800mb. so im guessing i need to export the files from rosa img's files, and import it to the orignal image file of the game. you think it will work?

you can't use rosa without modloader.

 

i suggest you to install this if you not really understand to use modloader.
