You know if you look around hard enough you can find libraries of free fonts to help you match closer.

Yes, I sometimes use online services to find the fonts I need, such as https://www.whatfontis.com/ and https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/

 

However, due to the sh*tty quality of the original textures, sometimes it's hard to get good results. So I often end up "drawing" the font.

 

In the case of the font above (the "truck terminal" one) I didn't have a lot of work to find it, since it is already installed by default on Windows. But I made a mistake: I used the regular version instead of the bold one. I could fix it, but I would have to remake the texture from scratch, since I don't have the .PSD anymore... and i'm too lazy to do so.

Yeah that's another thing, always save a project file, can't stress the amount of times in the past where I thought something was OK but later had to make changes and had to do a remake from scratch. Just keep project files in a folder in case you need to go back to them in future.

ok, i've searched many times a non modified txd, found nothing, i think we already achieved 100% on country area of LS (i will verify it again).

Me and hybridtheory have found the exactly same texture in high resolution.

The project was paused like a month ago, since we are focusing on VRTP now. (Don't worry, it's not dead.)

 

I can say that the country area is almost finished, only a few textures are left.

R* uses a lot of commercial texture libraries in their games. In fact most game studios probably do.

Guys, this mod is not dead, it will return soon, but we need people to help, 'cos it costs a lot of time and without people to help, it takes more and more time.

If nobody minds me, I can do quality texturework and custom meshes (tho you don't need latter for this project), but I have no experience with SA meshes and how texturing them works. Are there some files I can export and how? I'd be really glad to help. Thanks :D

In *.img there are .txd files, those contain the textures. However to open .img archives you'll need an IMGeditor (like Alci's IMG Editor 1.5 for SA specifically, I find it works really well and has neat search functions). When you have the .txd file extracted you'll need magic.txd (can be found in this forums Tools section) to open that file and see the actual textures inside of them, after that you can export your desired texture with magic.txd, open up the texture in any image manipulation program you want, edit them and then import them back into the txd file.. After that there would be no need to insert that txd back into the .img archive since most people use modloader anyway.

 

Models are located in the .img archives as well, if you need to know what models needs what txd, you could look it up in their .ide file where they're defined per object ID, their structure is as follows: object ID, Model name, name of txd file, the rest are flags that can apply certain properties to the model. The Models themselves contain the name of the texture(s) they use in each respective txd file, to find their names you can open up any of the models with rw analyze and look at the second string under every texture section within the Geometry list.

 

Hope this helps you on the way a bit.

I got an .img editor for some mods for quite some time. Nice to know that everything's in those files. Thanks :D Will be coming soon with some textures. Problem now is, what textures need to be done? What is done for now? Where do I see that?

 

Is this project coordinated well enough so that anyone who wants to participate can see what is and what is not yet done on some kind of list? Or do we have to guess ourselves by the last download of the textures, and the ones posted here?

 

Oh, and what's the Discord group? I've had recently gotten rid of my discord account, but it's been some time and I think I can reactivate it and join the group.

Got no clue at all, sorry. Might want to PM MS. for that, I'm not part of the project, just answered your question regarding textures/models and a good way to get your hands on all needed info to edit them.

Sorry for asking, but can you upload your mod to different site like google drive on mediafire, downloading it from depositfile is real pain

Why do people keep coming here to ask this? I've already said that this project needs help and support, and the people that was helping me are gone or too busy to help, i'm currently focusing on VRTP.
