WTF? Temporal ban?

Hi, I received a message today that I was basically banned temporarily until the end of April, and that my account would be reset.

The problem is that I've NEVER done hacks, accepted money from hackers (I've reported the only time one of them ever drugged me with boxes of money, through a ticket to rockstar) or anything like that. I haven't even used external programs for singleplayer hacks.

I find that I have sent you this message:

"Hello, good evening

I was making a bunker weapons delivery with a friend and I got a temporary banning message (attached in the pictures). I have NEVER used any external software to modify the game, NOR HAVE I USED HACKS (In fact, I received mod money once and reported it instantly) so I don't understand the reasons for the ban. I understand it was a mistake, and that by notifying you I'll get the account back. I also hope that my progress in the game hasn't been restored, because then, it won't do me any good to get my account back. I would like clarification on the reason for the ban, and a review of the circumstances, because I am sure there is nothing I have done to deserve it. I have too many hours of play, and almost 100 million won from bunker arms sales, to risk losing everything. I hope it's a mix-up, and I hope to get it sorted out as soon as possible.

And they don't even bother to answer, since they have an automatic response system that has answered me the following:

I don't know what to do to appeal this ban. I can swear by the most sacred thing that I have NEVER used any kind of hack or mod (neither online nor singleplayer) so I don't understand, nor have the slightest idea what happened.

Does anyone know how to contact them to have my case reviewed? I'm so lost.

I'm doing some research and it seems to be happening to a lot of people today. I'm sure the antihack system has gone crazy with some change. I can't say for sure for others, but in my case, I can swear by the most sacred that I have never used any kind of hack or mod, I haven't even used xploits to clone or replenish cheaper, etc.... I don't understand at all the reason for the ban. I can't find a trace you can tell me about my banning.

I hope all these people are in the same situation as me, and they really played fair. The more we are with fair motives, the more chances we have to recover the account and the character (Recovering the account and having everything reset is exactly the same as a permanent ban, in my opinion).

I got a permanent ban for already getting a temp ban over a year ago because of money hacking. I hope if they fix everyone else, that they fix mine too despite the past.

In my case it's a temporary ban, but.... it doesn't matter if I'm going to lose the character's progress. I've never used any kind of hack, duplicated vehicles, used mods, absolutely nothing. Neither online nor singleplayer.

Yep I got banned playing GTA with my friend until late April. We were collecting bounties and doing CEO work. Never once have I cheated, nor will I start.

I got banned as well around an hour ago, never cheated/modded whatever, the only reason I could see triggering a ban was my account was hacked 7 months ago. Hit rockstar up with two tickets, first one was just an automated message i sent another with no mention of ban hopefully they'll look into it.

 

This was my only reason to register an account here.

What's so infuriating is they don't tell you how, what and when. Just a broad description. I can't Imagine how frustrated players who sank alot of time and money into this game must feel(I mysself bought a few shark cards, but only leveled up to level 60). that's enough for me not purchasing any other rockstar games(they're not releasing many these years) ever if they don't resolve this

On 03/23/2018, a large number of posts on r/gtaonline, the Rockstar support forums, Twitter, and other GTA communities popped up that their accounts had been falsely banned for 30 days without appeal. As of now, we don't know exactly why this ban has happened - some claim that it may be the work of modders, others think that it may be an issue with the latest tunables update or participating in the new Hotring series races. I'll try to provide a brief overview and update it as necessary:

-About 12 hours ago, the GTA Tunables was updated. Rockstar changed coding stuff for Hotring races by adding and removing several lines of code, as well as a change related to a car selling exploit.

-The first messages about the ban started showing up about nine hours ago - at first, people were skeptical (after all, everyone and their mother who gets legitimately banned claims they didn't do it) but the sheer number of posts, tags, and claims that they were unfairly banned should at least draw some concern. Some of these accounts have less than 10 hours of in game time, supporting the idea that the ban wave is picking up people incorrectly.

-So far, the ban wave only seems to be affecting PC users. Note: The tunables update is only on PC (thanks to /u/EminGTR for pointing this out.)

-Rockstar support seems to be ignoring the issue - they are still responding to support messages not related to the ban wave.

One reddit user claimed that a new mod menu was causing people to get banned, although there is no evidence or proof to back this up.

As of now, I have no further information. If I were to guess it would be an issue with the latest tunables update that didn't show itself right as it was updated; however, I'll keep this post updated as I get new info.

Were you recently banned unfairly? Post in the comments what you were doing when you got banned, I'm trying to find a correlation between what players were doing and if they were banned or not.

I got banned as well. I was simply delivering a Stirling GT for a 100k commission. I don't use hacks and I don't grief other players. I've spent over 700 hours in this game generating all my money via legitimate means. Close to 20 million GTA$. I wonder if enough people lose enough GTA$ (which has real-world value) could they start a class-action suit to get back what they've lost?

There seams to be a bug in the ban trigger.

I just finished a playlist with races, no double cash races, some custom build races. Than I got the ban screen "30 days ban"

I never cheated or something like that, I often reported those who do. (only when i was sure)

 

I played from day 1 (october 1st, 2013) took my profile to pc and played over 6000 hours GTAOnline.

not cool to ban loyal players.

Yep banned after selling a low rider from benny's, hadn't even been a minute when I sold it and got the notification you have been banned from GTA online till April 23rd. This is really out of the limits now. No mods or menu's installed and this account was only a week old.

My bro has been baned for a month. We were doing a Lamar mission. He started playing GTAO TODAY. Of course never used cheats to reach lvl 5 XD. His chrt will be reset.

 

I won't play anymore until this issue gets fixed. I'm lvl 220 and I'm scared about loosing all my progres.

No one on the Rockstar Support Forum knows anything about this ban wave but I've also noticed some forum regulars (helpers) have not replied for awhile which is also unusual. The bans could be legit or it could be a problem associated with the "err_sys_invalidresource_5 gta" that appeared at the same time and affected PC users. Just don't know.

 

The only thing you can do is sit tight, don't threaten, and wait it out (assuming you're truly legit). If the ban is indeed a Rockstar error, your character and inventory will be returned with hopefully some added cash for your troubles.

Some additional infos:

 

At first I've got a human response to one of my tickets related to this issue. The first one (ban objection) got the usual Zendesk bot answer and got closed directly but the second one (ban appeal) got an answer from a German R* support staffer telling me that my account will get checked. The relevant part goes like this "Regarding the exclusion: Your account will get checked. From your side no further information is needed. You will be notified immediately if your exclusion has been lifted. Please note that we do not give any guarantees and that requests will be processed in the order in which they were received."

 

Secondly I've written an email to [email protected] detailing the issue and requested an investigation. I'd suggest you do the same!

 

As third I've voted for the Change.org petition related to the ban (see post and link above).

I've just done that and can just suggest to do the same to create as much pressure for R* as possible until they actually acknowledge there indeed is a problem and their system has made a mistake. I don't have that much hope regarding this bureau but if enough negative rankings and complaints pop-up they may actually try to contact R* to get a response and see what is up.

Got banned with my brand new account with less than 24 hours of gametime! My first ban in my life after more than 15 years of online gaming. And I got it while I was DRIVING on the highway.. Maybe for speeding? XD

They've started to unban people!

 

My account is back and has an additional 80 million $ on the bank. That money is presumably the amount I have gotten through Shark Cards during all the years as this was the amount the reset account had on the bank. Nice gesture that I could keep it and something I'd call a proper compensation.

Now players that just got unbanned are reporting that they got banned again after playing for about 20 mins. WTF is going on here!?!
