Maybe put a countdown on top of people's heads when they leave passive mode?

That would be good but it definitely doesn't resolve the problem by itself. If you have some griefer hopping in and out of passive while flying a jet around, knowing that he's coming out of passive (if you're even looking at him) does little to nothing. It's only helpful against a guy on foot, basically.

Be able to use Lester? I wouldn't want people in passive mode just casually putting bounties on me.

I think passive mode cd should be longer, cuz either you're in passive or you're not, otherwise you're an obvious abuser of the feature,

Plus i think there should be a lobby-wide notification when a player is about to leave passive mode, like 10 seconds ahead, AND I wouldn't mind if they added a huge glow on the player leaving passive mode, like a goddamn super-saiyan.

I'm not sure about the other features but passive players should damn well be able to call lester to remove wanted levels, what if they just accidentally ran over a cop? They shouldn't suffer from not having a quick way out of that kind of situation.

Someone suggested that you'd need to enter a property to enable/disable passive mode. That's a genius idea, it wouldn't really hurt peaceful players but it would certainly end people following you in a jet, popping out of passive for a quick cheap kill and then going back in passive and lzzzzz away

Actually that would hurt peaceful players very much. Many of them don't go around in passive all the time but will activate it if someone kills them, because they don't want to fight.

Letting you enable it anywhere but only disable it in a property would be interesting. The real d-bags would still resort to it but at least they'd be inconvenienced in their griefing.

This is how passive mode should work imo. Players should either be active or passive and if they want to switch they must restart from home. Add a quick "Take me home" option which would be just like the heist invite shortcut most people use to get home fast.

As passive works now I'd prefer not messing with the cooldown since it is convenient to go in/out frequently when playing and doing stuff around the house at the same time.

I agree with the inability to use any weapons for 30 seconds when hopping out of Passive Mode. That way it'd seriously deter many cheap Passive hopping kills in jets and on foot.

But man I'd really hate to see passive being disabled for armed vehicles. I like flying military aircraft around without worrying about ADHD Homing Launcher douchebags or super territorial jet tryhards. That'll completely make flying the Bombushka/Volatol far less appealing and often.

Or freaking allow us to become ghosted to any players of our choice. That way I wouldn't have to flip to Passive all because of 1 Deluxo while there's about 11 other peaceful players around.

If you kill anyone other than an npc, you shouldn't be able to use Pussy mode or easy way out. Plain and simple. If I kill you, and you kill me, auto disabled for that session, now if you kill you and you then go pussy mode, then run away for a tank or whatever, then kill me, again the game auto disables the feature and it locks for the rest of the session, you have to leave and join a new session for example...

As far as I'm concerned - don't touch passive mode.

Yesterday when I played and was in passive, I entered a clothing shop and browsed for a while. After I left the store and got into my car, I noticed a hail of bullets come crashing through my windows. It was not the first time passive mode had magically disabled itself in the game and I don't know why that happens. I quickly re-entered passive, however, as I drove away and the little f*ck didn't get his lousy surprise kill.

This type of player behavior/interference is exactly why I think R* implemented it from the beginning. It's to avoid getting interfered by bored griefers and other creeping tryhards. And since R* hasn't implemented that you can enter a solo/invite-only session directly from the start-up, passive should stay just the way it is.

So after reading this thread, I think I have a workable solution.

Leave the base Passive Mode cooldown at 1 minute. During this minute, you CAN be targeted by other players. You CANNOT use your own weapons for the first 30 seconds. During this period, you CANNOT accept any CEO/MC invites.

You CAN drive/fly weaponized vehicles, but weapons are disabled for the first 30 seconds of the cooldown.

While in Passive Mode, you can call Lester to remove Wanted levels and to call for a vehicle. You CANNOT set bounties. You CANNOT call Lamar. You CAN call Merryweather, but only for vehicle pickups and ammo drops. You CAN use weaponized vehicles, but while in Passive Mode the weapons are disabled.

If you kill another player, you cannot return to Passive Mode for 1 minute. Each player you kill adds 1 minute to this timer. Killing the same player multiple times adds an extra minute for each time.(kill them once, it's 1 minute. Kill them again, it's 2 more minutes. Again, 3 more) So the more trouble you cause, the longer you have to deal with the consequences of your actions. This lockout would have no maximum, and if you're a real troublemaker could end up lasting an hour or more. The timer would persist if you change sessions and pause when you log out. You would be forced to deal with the consequences of your actions. Interfering with CEO/Biker businesses would add time to this timer as well. Two minutes for every part of a shipment that is destroyed (so if a CEO is delivering a car, and it's blown up, it adds 2 minutes. If a Biker Club is delivering guns in 2 Insurgents and both are destroyed, that's 4 minutes) Time is removed from this timer if you are killed by another player. (30 seconds for each death) Taking the easy way out or blowing yourself up does not count for or against.

Very nice this thread is the PvP f*ckers thread, be prepared for a broken passive mode in the next update, 20 minutes cooldown, passive disabled in all weaponized vehicles

Very very nice, now the peaceful players can't use the ruiner to record some stunts or stromberg or oppresor & thruster to casually explore the map

WELL DONE!

Leave it as is atleast on pc, we already got tons of dickhead modders on pc who blow up the session, teleport you out of your vehicles, kill you, and spawn you at a certain place to rack up kills.

We need to bring back the ability to run Passive players over from LastGen.

That's when men were men, women were women, and sheep were scared! ;)

The bounty is best solution to the passive problem. If a player is in passive allow any player to put a bounty on them with no limits, sorry pvers, passive is great to roll around in sometimes but to discourage the blatant and absurd use, use of passive should allow for bounties to be set on you for an hour after you come out without a cool down.

Obviously, in this situation, if you are killed you, you can return to passive in the kill screen or risk respawning with another bounty applied immediately. Passive essentially will work the same. However, any player will be able to set a bounty on you upon a respawn leaving against a relentless and determined player very little time to reenter passive.

It would cut down on ewo as well because once you kill a player, you now have an incentive to remain alive to call lester while the oppenent is in his loading screen. Team fighters would still be able to ewo.

I understand bounties were exploited, but this exploit isnt possible on xb1 or ps4.

Yeah right so passive players who done nothing could get killed by lots of trolls i'm sure there will be a backlash if they do this type of sh*t

Play on Invitation Only if you don't want interact with anyone. But a lot of free mode players we are tired of passive pussies. They areaddig anlot of missions on free mode and the passive mode is a big problem now. So I always hope for a change in the passive mode. Edited by joel15cat

The player character should flash between solid and ghosted as the "Disable Passive" countdown is ticking, to allow other players to know that this guy is trying to get the drop on you.

Its not what he wanted to say I think. But for example you don't need to join a public if you want to just mod your car at LSC with your friends or do some sightseering with whatever vehicle. Even playing Heist from Invite-Only is better because of loading times, you negate some sh*tty aspects of P2P by starting/joining heist from IO.

My opinion is that balance of the game shouldn't not be designed according some irrelevant stuff, like "I want to be passive in Hydra/Deluxo/Oppressor in public lobby and explore the map". ok. cool. The dude who have to grind businesses with his friends has no other choices than to join a pub lobby to play those contents.

Teleport to an apartment through a heist invite so it doesn't hurt peaceful players

and also, passive mode is automatically disabled in weaponized vehicles like it is disabled for some reason in the swift deluxe

Yeah i know but the invite only session are kinda restricted, am i still be able to join missions on call when in IO? If yes then i guess it's alright, but it feels so hollow in there

Because i like to roam around the map in passive while waiting on call jobs, meeting up with randoms, doing a little car meet at LSC

i'm not that passive abusive players so if they decided to make passive mode like the last gen, then that's it enough with this game, guaranteed lots of trolls will be roaming around the map like cancer especially those f*ckers in their vigilante

Sure, its strongly adviced if you're going to farm heists with friends* and more particulary Criminal Mastermind. Its solo session which is extremely restricted(like you cannot join heists IIRC).

* or even farming heists with randoms, this way you don't have to respawn near them, I hate it personally. lol

Only changes I'd make-

A better visual indicator when someone is about to come out of passive.

Killing another player places a 3-5 minute cooldown on entering passive.

haha that part where we don't have to spawn next to randoms seems nice, forgive me but how do you go to the invite only? I don't know how to do it (no joke)

You have to start the game from story mode, then go Online section then pick "Invite-Only" instead "Go"(this is public session).

there is also a trick with Editor but I can't explain with controller I play on PC.

PS: you will respawn near randoms only after finals, not after completing or failing a setup. You can still leave the pub session during the animation(like when you're exiting Lester warehouse after Pacific Standard final).

I don't think it's been suggested, but how about a notification in the killfeed, seen by the whole session.

ALifeOfMisery has entered Passive mode.

ALifeOfMisery is exiting Passive mode.

Obviously in addition to some of the great above suggestions.

But is a good idea if the passive mode is more restricted.

Keep Passive Mode cooldown as it is, but it should raise if Mental State rises too, a player with full Mental State (Psychopath) shouldn't be able to go Passive. For this to work, your Mental State shouldn't raise at all when killing NPCs and it should rise when killing players while being a CEO/MC.

I like this a a lot.
