The Perfect Room

So yesterday was a snow day, off from work and such. For most of the day I had started off in a room by myself and as it slowly filled up to about 20 players I noticed something very cool happen.

The first player had trickled in and i sent out my message that i wouldn't mess with them, friend requests were exchange. Then another player came in. And then another. We all started out doing our own thing, Executive Search, supply runs, product sales, I/E runs, Piracy Prevention and Freeroam jobs. Everything was being done in the room for hours. It took about 4 hours for me to realize that in all this time with about 20 strangers in the room not once did I see that a player had killed another player. No sales had been destroyed. No one was getting trolled. I even crossed paths with another player in a Buzzard and neither of us locked on to the other. I couldn't believe I was still playing GTA. I had to go back to my Bunker and check the map but there it was: all these player icons crossing from one side of the map to the other, no one messing with anyone else. It was beautiful, I almost shed a tear.

I ended up making about 7 new friends and made about $3 million just from sales, CEO work and Freeroam jobs. It truly was my perfect room.

Now some of you may have different ideas about the perfect room but my idea of one is where all of the players know what time it is and know how to either to stay out of each others way or to help out and cooperate with each other. Everyone is making money.

What are your thoughts on what your perfect room would be?

Sorry for the confusion. My older group of friends still refer to lobbies as rooms.

One that I could do whatever I wanted (businesses, freeroam fun, heists, races, etc.) with or without anyone I wanted. Like a MTU toggle switch but I could only have friends join if I wanted to.

We can't have nice things.

Smooth Longsack

30 man dogfight

Air quota is by far my favorite adversary mode.

My perfect room would be made of marble, gold and red velvet tapestry with as much natural lighting as possible during the day. It would be engineered with a domed roof and adorned worth sexy female archers. The place would be littered with statues of my children when they were much younger. Also, exotic plants for the freshest of airs.

OP Sounds pretty perfect to me, wish there were "friendly lobbies" where no player can harm another and "hostile lobbies" where.. well basically what we have now.

So room = lobby? Ok.
For me, perfect room would be a place, where nobody griefs. I don't care what people do otherwise.

Join a Friendly Crew and those kind of lobbies will be the rule rather than the exception :)

Haven't found one yet for PC, but admittedly haven't been on the lookout much either, socially awkward, yet peaceful chicken that I am. A real conundrum: I like people to hang around with while being left alone 80% of the time in a neatly filled closed lobby (save and sound from hackers, I totally dread those); always someone there for an occasional hello and CEO/race/contact stuff whenever socializing mood takes over :) A crew with a lot of "coulds", but no "shoulds".

Honestly, the ability to move cars in closed crew sessions would be pissing golden for me and my kind.

sometimes if some uncrunchies break through the ice, we start stand your iceberg, i mean stand your ground and have a flippy fight from time to time.

I just wanna see a cooperative fight between all players in the Lobby using their explosive toys against the Police .

This is actually an example of players beating the Prisoner's Dilemma - check out Game Theory if you don't know what that is. Basically everyone has a small incentive to screw one another over, but as soon as one person does that everyone loses. Only by acting cooperatively does everyone win.

I've often thought GTAO is actually an interesting socio-economic experiment in that regard. DISCLAIMER - before I sound too nerdy I do actually play it for fun, this was just an observation.

^^ Amen (and that comes from an atheist).

My perfect lobbies come up every weekend where most of my friends and crewmates are playing. I can choose between pure crew lobbies for supplyruns and sales (the moneymaker ones), the groups who play activities aka racing, golf or dart (the sportive ones), the groups who "clean" public lobbies from griefer/tryhards (the combat faction), the heist or mission ones (the tacticals -> still my fav.) and the roleplayers car-meet people (the fanatics). I jump through all of them (more here, less there) and accept as many invites I can based on my lust, playtime and who's calling.

All things considered: The "one room" OP is asking for is invite only session for heists - but with only a very small lead for all others mentioned above.

Guess I am a bit nerdy, too, but I'm positively thrilled by this post. I feel the overall notion deeply, plus it reminds me of watching one of my all-time favorite movies, "A Beautiful Mind", again.
