I am burnt out. I'm still interested in what this game could be, but the grind to obtain the amazing sh*t that doesn't even come close to touching its full potential has turned me off. I was a daily player of this game from day one, excited at every bit of news and speculation, but Gun Running was the end for me. I'm so far behind the curve that it's virtually impossible to catch back up unless I spend real cash. I have a 6 week old baby now, the short time I get to play videos can't be spent WORKING to earn money to buy stuff to play with.

I'll just play Hitman instead.

This update has reignited my love for cars. All I do lately is log on and stare at my XXR while doing Sightseer and contact missions in invite only. Even when I'm about to log off I start having second thoughts as I can't stop admiring the XXR lol.

That's my exact situation when it comes to driving my Dukes. Sometimes I log in just to do contact missions/VIP and drive it around. It's just so fun. :D

---

Which helps answer the OP's question. How do I do not to get burned out? I cut out all the stuff that made me despise playing the game: heists with randoms, grinding for cash to afford everything in a DLC on release day, play with the sole purpose of winning at whatever I was doing (PvP, racing, ...).

I've all I wanted in the game: buy the stuff I wanted, conquer all awards, unlock everything. Only CM IV from Doomsday and the Hotring Sabre's liveries remain to be unlocked, which both are something I am currently working on.

When that is done, I'll just tighten my scope back to simple and fun things: drive my cars, do contact missions/heists/VIP for the fun of it, participate in whatever week events Rockstar puts out, take pictures. Basically, the same thing that any movie franchise that is starting to get tired out should do: go back to basics and more personal stories.

The whole game is grinding for cash to buy stuff you really don't need.

Then you get in a pvp battle and spend all your cash on ammo and insurance..

I don't get it.

Is that all you do? Do you not have any imagination beyond sitting in some random ass lobby wasting your earnings in a "PvP" fight with a child?

Of course not, I run missions, do heists, CEO I/E, MC Business, etc... However it doesn't change the fact that the whole game is grinding for cash to buy stuff you really don't need.

I guess my point is, there is no point in the game, no end goal....

I have plenty of gta cash, not an issue at all.

the fact that it has no end goal makes it so good.

like i said in another topic, this game for me and lot's of others is like a virtual 2nd life without the limits that actuall life has.

sure the gameplay modes might get boring after a while but that's why most people hope and expect to get new gameplay mode with each update. sometimes they deliver and other times they do not. but trust me taking a break does help.

It's not what you play, but how you play it.

I run all this stuff as well, but I'm always searching ways to optimize the process. Surprisingly, I stil find things that other players missed.

This search makes the moneymaking process fun AND makes it more profitable at the same time.

Same as life, we're all just killing time.. Born to die yada yada, but that's the beauty i think, no one single point means you got infinite points to choose from, if there was an "end goal" most people would reach it and quit, GTA:O is so popular because there is no point, imo. Most single player games including GTA:V I played through once or twice and never looked back, because I reached the goal, and there's not much more to it. GTA:O never cuts you off like that, every aspect of its many "end-game"s has depth to it and yet it forces none of it. Enjoy the casual, breathe it in. I recommend you watch some "GTA Geographic" episodes by Sonny Evans on youtube, they depict various ways of enjoying the game and are quite humorous and entertaining.

Bruh it's been my second home since 2013

I was literally thinking the exact same thing the second before I read jdv95's comment. :D

Most days I log on, export a few cars, resupply the bunker, and just do whatever I feel like doing. I also have pretty great friends to play with at the moment, so that helps to make it fun. But playing like this I'm always making more money than I'm spending without it ever feeling like grinding.

But then again, I've bought most things that I want. I got a list of 20-or-so cars that I haven't gotten around to buying yet, ranging from 200k ones to 2M ones, and I'm waiting for discounts for some of them. I could buy them all right away but it just feels better to dripfeed them to myself lol. So there's that to look forward to.

Indeed, GTAO might feel like it has no end goal, but that's not important to me. I don't play this game like I play Uncharted for example. I play it mostly because I just like spending time in it. Doing all kinds of stuff that I could only dream about doing when I was younger, and running my criminal business (although a lot more could be made to improve the "business" side of GTAO in my opinion).

I still have issues with this game ofc (mainly concerning how gameplay is set aside in favor of shark card-revenue - especially since gameplay, sandbox freedom and attention to detail have always been reasons why I've loved R* games). But I try to chose to concentrate on the stuff that makes me happy. If I've played too much I might get a little fed up with it, or if I've really power-grinded for some reason..

Then I just go do something else.

Most games I play that do have an end goal I usually wish didn't so I could keep playing instead of starting over.

Oh I'm very burned out from this game, Gun Running did that sh*t for me.

Though I'm still coming back because of the cars and because no other games out there offers what this game has.

I go into the game with an agenda of stuff that I need and want to get done but also with knowing that those plans can change in an instant. You need to be flexible. Having a good crew on to make a bit of a party atmosphere doesn't hurt either.

Am I burnt out? Yeah... Do I grind for money? No.

At this point in the game I got everything I personally want, I just go bounty hunting, Purchase the supplies for gun running then sell, or sell cars for Simeon and Los Santos customs.

Burned out? No.

Constantly getting burned every time an update comes out, and the things I used to love about the game get neglected, corrupted, broken, undone, etc.? Yep - and it's been getting worse for over two years, now. :/

I'd love to get back to the days of early/mid 2015, where I could just mess around in GTAO constantly, make my own fun without ever getting bored, and never having any reason to take the disc out of the drive.

Instead, I've played more games since late 2015 than I can remember, just because every time GTAO lurches even further into gimmicky, broken territory while things I used to enjoy become nigh-on unplayable, I seek out something else to make up for that. For instance, I've now got an extensive back catalogue of GTA-style sandbox games (Crackdown, Mafia, Sleeping Dogs, Watch Dogs, Saints Row, etc.), simply because I need something GTA-like, but that won't frustrate/disappoint me like the current state of GTAO. :(

The only time I actually got burned out was trying to beat gridlOck to that damn alien mission that nobody cares about anymore.

I don't get in PVP,I stick to invite only and just make money (contact missions, clubhouse contracts, solo races, selling NPC's cars...),and maybe cruise around in my vehicles to relax or do some roleplaying when I get bored of making money.

I don't get it.

Well that does sound exhausting.

I try not to grind or at least feel like I'm grinding. If I feel like doing Heists, I'll do heists, if I want to race, I'll race, if I want to make a race, I'll make a race. The game has lots of different options which is why it takes me a while to tire. I still do, then I go play something else, but I always come back.

Sun screen, moisturizer and lotion. Which inevitably leads to fapping. Thus, gives me a break from playing, preventing getting burned/burnt out.

Never did get burnt out, although I've always had the notion that Rockstar was designing the game to destroy your pockets rather then fill them with cash.

I've been focused on having just enough money to buy snacks, ammo, some cars, and clothes. Slowed down over the years, dumped all my cash in lowriders and f*cking cash grabs. I'd be playing GTA all year round if I had shelled out the cash for a year subscription right when one ended, but I don't, and that's my hiatus.

I do survivals, some heists set ups, that's about it. One of my friends went "that's it?" Yeah, I don't cherish PvP, but I'll obliterate anyone who targets me, I just don't go finding fights. I play in invite only sessions, make recordings, roleplay ( not like annoying ass squeakers, just for the sake of the character I'm playing in the video) and take photos. GTA is kind of like Snapchat/Instagram for me, except I kill people and make money from it.

Burnt out? Never. Almost came close to quitting after I paid almost an M&M for a mobile Ammunation (felt like I wrote this before), but survivals, team work ( when the ultra rare phenomenon occurs) brings me back every time. These outrageous prices and peanut dispensers Rockstar has introduced made me one of the lone wolves that barely get by.

My mind is what keeps my interested. Never play a game without an imagination.
