I love the update, but I am bias because my car was added, along with many other classics, plus I enjoy Nascar so there is that.

it sucks....another hot wheels/track mania update.....stop stealing other game ideas r*

A lot of GTA YouTubers say that R* was copying the Hotwheels pack for Forza. Not true. I'm pretty sure that update came after cunning stunts.

If I'm wrong, someone please correct me with proof :)

The racemode is pure snore and there's no garage space added...so there isn't really an update for me but the addition of a badly executed and pointless race mode and some nice looking although apparently broken cars with no new garage to store them in regardless.

Ya, on Friday when I have more time, I will update the OP and shine light on the garage space issue. This thread still has many things missing. I plan to update it soon.

People somehow got worse at driving. There worse than npc traffic. Game needs to put those who spin you out or go backwards into ghosted mode so they cant ram anymore.

If someone Pitts you during a race, they are a complete scum bag. Period.

I hate ppl who do that.

Well its just races and I dont race much.

The 5 cars I just dont have room for so its almost as if there was no update at all for me.

I will have to make room for Ellie but thats about it.

All in all sh*t update.

Any update that doesn't require you to buy a property for new vehicles is ok in my book.

The cars.

I would have bought the saber hotring had it been in supers. It's a 200mph car for crying out loud.lol

The clothes.

What clothes?

Played one race of hotring.Very weak.

Cunning Stunts Part 2.

Later I will discuss paywalls. One thing I like about this update is that there are no paywalls. From rank 1, you can access a majority of the content in this update. You do not need to buy the Hotring Sabre to race or to even win for that matter. I also like how this update was not tied to a business.

You make some good and valid points:

- Content is all-inclusive, there's no barriers to entry

- Upgraded vehicles aren't required to win races, the races are mayhem and purely based around managing to avoid being knocked out by other players

- The purchase prices aren't devastating (except for the Super cars, which I believe are a total rip off)

Though the update didn't provide anything exceptional to the game... I mean, if you take away the cars and the dripfeed the update is "Here's a couple of short-lap races fixed to one specific car that you have to race for a minimum of 7 laps", it's underwhelming. But when you factor in its inclusivity for all players, I'd say it's not as bad as some people make out.

I don't know how to interpret that so I'm going to interpret it as you calling me young. Therefore you are now my favourite person on this site.

But come on man, you've gotta admit that an update that doesn't negatively impact a bunch of players is a positive thing. Like, okay, I'll get this out of the way, my money is made from a buttload of glitches, but most of my friends are "Nerggghhh wut if Rokstaah ban meeee" kind of players. With updates like The Doomsday Heist, they've got 3 options: Grind enough for a Facility (most of them are on a few hundred thousand), cave into glitches, or only participate as a crew member rather than enjoying the content itself.

With this update, there's only really 2 things added that you can do: Play the new races, and buy some new cars. You don't need anything to play the new races, just join through your phone and you're offfffffff. And with the cars, you don't need somewhere special to store them... no Special Vehicle Warehouse, no Facility, no Bunker, just stick them in your garage.

It's got to a point where anything from Rockstar that's inclusive and doesn't actively negatively impact players should be heralded as a good thing.

I didn't vote. It's just meh at best. Don't like it, don't hate it. Played a couple of new races and was not impressed. Prolly won't be buying any of the cars or doing any more of the races.

BTW, the last two poll options are basically the same thing in different words.

Yes and no. However, a lot of people say "meh" so I guess I may as well add that as an option :bored:

@ just do it bob1 - You're right, Cunning Stunts came out a while before FH3's Hot Wheels Update.

And now that I'm thinking about it, if this is truly a filler update, it's a hell of a lot more content than the Special Vehicle Circuits and Lowriders: Custom Classic. Not saying there is nothing wrong with this update at all, but I think complaining about lacking content might be going slightly overboard. Not talking about quality, I'm talking about the quantity.

Eh, I liked the aesthetic of the update but realistically it does nothing much for me.

What actually bugged me was that none of the new tracks feel much like NASCAR tracks. One would've been enough to please me, just one track covered with sponsored ads around the side, a decent looking start/finish line, smooth banked turns and no speed boosts, ramps or stupid obstacles taking up the racing line. Rockstar has access to all in game assets in their master version of the content creator right? So how hard would it've been? Search NASCAR in the Social Club and you'll get some near perfect tracks come up, I've tested five out this morning and they're all ten times better than what Rockstar has given us.

Something that exists solely as a pipe dream is a version of the premium races only for Hotring. One specific well-built track locked to stock Hotring Sabre's only, penalty for those who dick around, high lap count to discourage griefers, functioning pit lane with vehicle repair pickups that only spawn every ten laps. When some of the new supers are released, do a similar endurance around the entire state, when some of the iconic and weird cars, drop a rally that traverses Blaine County. That'd make it feel more like a motorsport-based DLC rather than the current "heres some cars and a few new tracks" we've been given.

And before the inevitable "its free content" schtick? Yeah, and I value how it sates my want for some Redneck F1 fun...I just wish there was a bit more to it.

Ya, I suspected so. I wasn't 100% sure if the whole Forza and Cunning Stunts thing was the case but thanks for clarifying. I don't think what I put was going overboard because what I mentioned were rather simple implementations to make the update better and something to remember. If you were to summarize every feature I said, point form notes would come down to 4 or 5 points. These things would not have increased development time by a whole lot, that is, when you consider how many developers are working on GTAO from different areas of the world. These implementations would have made these races more dynamic in a sense and would have given real homage to vice city which is what was mentioned in the first paragraph on the newswire.

"GTA Online: Southern San Andreas Super Sport Series. The first of two new racing modes – an homage to Vice City’s classic Hotring mixed with the Cunning Stunts of GTA Online – is now available along with five new cars."

-Rockstargames (Socialclub Newswire)

I sometimes believe r* should leave the community to develop the updates. We make much better stuff than they ever had in GTAO. Of course in a real world, this will never happen. We can only dream and wish for now.

Id love to race in a public lobby with supers, muscles, sports, bikes and off-road in one mad dash to a finish line, you choose the path. Soooo simple...yet none existent.

I hope someone will find their time to tell me how this would be great? If only I could put a custom engine and transmission to my Buccaneer to race with may be at least some sports cars, but in my vision it's just nothing good at this time. Impromptu race is enough option for uncompetitive boring races you talking about.

Dr.Rosenthal

I tried a non-contact Hotring race yesterday and fell asleep, but I still finished in 4th place.

I'm going to try it tonight with contact on and see if that makes it more interesting.

The only things I'm impressed by from this update is

A) the sheer number of new cars added as well as the diversity of them,

B) the fact that they've added a few oft-requested vehicles,

C) the fact that they somehow managed to completely break both new Supers,

D) can't think of anything more

I'm mostly disappointed that it doesn't really add anything new as far as gameplay mechanics go - no new features, no new properties, businesses, weapons, haircuts, tattoos, clothes (the different racing suits don't really count - they're indistinguishable from each other apart from having different HEX values) basically just stunt races with a different name, but Stunt races are actually fun.

Just opening up and put the Maze Bank Arena to use would have felt fresh and exciting.

For about playing on contact, when you start the race, hit the reverse button. Trust me, everyone will crash, kill each other and you will come in first place. Always works for me and its the funniest sh*t ever.

As of adding new businesses, I cannot agree with you there. That's my personal opinion, but I think adding businesses would have added paywalls. This update without them, makes it accessible to everyone, even if your rank 0 or rank 1.

I'm with the many others who were disappointed there was no extra garage space added.

Races are not really my thing so I won't spend a lot of hours on these new races. So far they seem fun enough with at least a half full lobby. The times I played them non-contact was quite tedious since the tracks are so simple.

I'm happily surprised to see more clean racers than dirty ones. A guy clipped my rear quarter and spun me out and apologized by text. I spun someone out (and off the edge) when I went over a curb wrong and I slammed the brakes until he respawned. I see a lot of players at least making an effort to make clean passes and not slam others into the wall at pinchpoints.

This. There's quite a few dirty ones but from the six/seven (maybe more) races I did on Tuesday, I came across more clean racers than I expected. It was a very nice change of pace from the usual suspects in stunt races.

I don't dislike the cars or the races... however, as a DLC it is just very underwhelming.

These types of new races and new cars should just be added to the game as they are developed.

There is no need to have a DLC based off of them, nor is there any reason to have a drip feed.

Commander S

- No character customisation other than a handful of cheap jumpsuits

- A couple of decent cars that I'll actually consider getting (Issi Classic and Ellie)

- A couple of well-done things that have no business taking priority over more popular wishlist cars

- Yet more goddamn supers/hypers... :sui:

- The 'Jester Classic' is an insult - particularly when the person(s) responsible expended less care and effort than the folks doing the f***ing Lada... :die:

- A bunch of age-old bugs/errors still unfixed, but hey - here's a bunch more!

At this point in time, I'm genuinely worried every time this sort of thing happens - because I dread the day where RDR2 comes out (complete with all the problems GTAO accumulated over the years, right from Day 1...), and this level of variable-quality cheap filler is the best we can expect for any further GTAO 'support'. :(

Nothing changed for me regarding pure new contents purchasable or new playable gamemodes, like a non-event. Even the patch stuff had more incidences(no more special ammo glitch e.g). But I don't know, I guess this was a good update for peoples who are into racing/cars. At least no stupid overpowered meme vehicle was added and R* marked some interest about the EWO question, Deluxo glitch has been fixed. Well, finally not a bad update, they should do it more often. More efforts on fixing bugs, game balance, optimization...

I liked the fact Avenger has now countermeasures, not really because I need countermeasures on Avenger, but rather because it shows R* might later give countermeasures to old Pegasus aircrafts(Savage, Cargobob, Titan...etc).

No new clothing - meh.

Nice new cars - but broken performance and... wtf no seriously you add an Agera-looking Overflod and make it slower than the old Entity? tf? Jester Classic, nevermind the bullsh*t name (Classic = Supra, modern = New NSX? lolwut) in Sports Classics? Elegy Retro is in sports? wat?

Also the pricing is just... yeah sure sell a 2++ million car which is a new Entity, and make it slower than the old Entity which costs like 800k. BRILLIANT. sh*tty model quality. Jester model is broken in 69 places at least. Looks like a rush job.

Fixed lowriders, apparently, no word on stock faction though. Anyone? Not that I'm expecting good news on that front.

Also this new hotring racing mode thing seems like a miss overall. Either you get a full lobby of 30 people and it's a massive ramfest with no way to escape (long straights, easy corners, almost always has slipstream on) or you get a near empty lobby of 5 people and it's a 15 minute long cruise to the finish line after which you get paid sh*t even if you win and that's including the double money thing.

R*, u wot?

NASCAR is boring as f*ck because it's all about a bunch of arrogant guys driving in circles.

And surprisingly, Hotring races are pretty close to reality :D

But, even more surprisingly,

It's fun to drive in those races when be lobby is full. Much more than to watch on TV...

So,

Well made on this one !

For the most part, I've come across a lot of clean drivers as well. Although, all it takes is one or two that decide to wreck everyone to ruin the fun. I was in one session where 4 players in the same crew were driving backwards or would wait for cars and then try to wreck them.

I drive clean for about 98% of the time. I only do the rough stuff to those who do it to me first but only after it's happened a few times. I get more satisfaction from out driving them and beating them without resorting to dirty tactics. After all, if the only way you can win is to race dirty and you still lose, then you really are a bad racer.
