DoubleOhSeven
GTA IV Question So in my discord someone brought up a valid question and I really didn't feel like using google. I wanted to hear from you guys. The member asked "How come they spell it like Mafiya instead of Mafia?" On first glance I would say for legal issues or maybe just because why not. What do you think? DirtCheap
To tell the difference between the Russian and Italian Mafia in spelling terms, people usually say 'mafia' to refer to the Italian Mafia and 'mafiya' to refer to the Russian Mafia. This way, when you are playing the game, it helps you know which mafia you are working for (the Russian one in this case). Also, that's how you pronounce the word 'mafia' in Russian.
