Actually got reported today due to this. Admittedly I was being a bit of a d*ck, sniping at players and deliberately not taking the second shot, just waiting for an EWO.

 

It took longer than I thought, but finally got a magical message, "reported says u killed me but I ewo cheater".

It is purely visually as for the person who fired at the person it says they ewo'd and for the person who ewo'd it says the got killed.

 

Sonny Evans video about saying the Tryhard is "dead" is false. Unfortunately, R* doesn't know how to fix something even though they said they did change it in the patch notes.

cba to test myself but it feels like MPPLY_DEATHS_PLAYER_SUICIDE is now a 3rd variable next to pvp kills and pvp deaths, that is not shown in the UI (yet) but is taken into the k/d calculation. Not saying that's the case but it would explain why it's so hard to test.

Not that I disbelieve GhillieMaster, or particularly think Rockstar is a competent developer, but I want to play with this myself and hear more than a few days of feedback before figuring out what changed. There are also people saying they paid 20K for blowing up a car that I myself only paid 10K for; sometimes it takes a little bit to wrap our heads around these convoluted things they do.

And Ghillie has a video saying the Hunter is way faster than the Akula, but now that I own both and tested them both on equal grounds, I know for a fact he was wrong.

 

So yeah, let's close this thread before we know the truth.

And r.e. the patch notes, they didn't mention they nerfed the Phantom Custom ramming ability nor the nerfing to the solo full bunker sales. I wouldn't put much stock in the patch notes.

They also didn't mention the never fall off bike glitch part 2.

And the MOC vehicle in Heists. (Deluxo, APC, anything that you normally can't use)

Ok So I just tested this and it does make your kd go down. I dont know what kinda tests some of you did but I am 100% sure it made my kd go down.

It is not added to player deaths but it is calculated into your kd.

This was a ground ewo test. I will check aircraft next to see if vehicle damage counts as well.

It didn't lower my KD and it didn't count as a death on my stats. But since I have a lot of kills and deaths on my stats so it takes a ton more deaths to lower and vice versa. No one knows how exactly it's calculated and we won't know unless someone digs into the game code. I figured it would count as a death on your stats so youd see changes instantly, apprently I was wrong

I have a lot of kills compared to deaths also and it could take 100-200 kills for my kd to go up so yea it could take quite a few deaths till you saw a change.

I checked my kd after every kill once I knew I was close. When it hit 5.42 I stopped then I made this video...

 

 

Now I will get a few more kills to get it back up to 5.42 and test it while in a jet :oD

Does it count if you are in a vehicle and the vehicle takes damage?

 

Edit: Wow my friend shot my jet just a little with the mini gun and I did the ewo and it counted and K/D went down lol

Seems to me they count ewo against ur k/d ratio, but its not considered a player death, so it doesnt improve anyones stats. Just a penalty for ewo tryhards, but as some ppl mentioned most ppl use stickies anyway.

He's not, lol (on the Hunter/Akula). I own two of both and stand by it being faster. Every test video I've seen, the Hunter breaks ahead.

 

It does have a slightly faster rate of climb though, which is useful for getting above enemy helicopters, climbing over mountains, etc.

 

On topic: Don't know why Sonny's getting bashed so much either. the GTA Geographic videos are very clearly for entertainment, rather than putting themselves up as some really factually correct testing videos.

You have two if each, go test them. That's what I did.

 

They both flew from zancudo to LSIA in almost the same time, with the Akula being a second or so faster.

 

Both have the same upgrades.

 

Both flown out of the hanger.

 

The Akula is NOT slower than the Hunter. Unless he has a buffed Hunter, in which case his test is invalid and irrelevant.

 

And it's not a "slightly" faster ascent. It's 10 seconds faster to the ceiling going straight up. 10 seconds is not a slight win by any stretch, unless it's an hours long race. It hit the ceiling 5 seconds faster than the Hunter in the full throttle test to LSIA.

So can they add the speed ewo back in, so I dont waste stickies against jet attacks? The ewo has not been used in gun fights since R* blanked it out while aiming. Its so much easier to drop a sticky. The only time I use the actual ewo, is to mess with jets. And I guesw I do use it in vehicles, mostly in a buzzard or jet, now I will just bail.

Well you can't get much more proof than literally showing it being faster, can you? Besides, I use both helicopters plenty, and I can definitely say the Hunter feels faster.

 

Where's your proof? The general consensus is that the Hunter is faster, so really the burden is on you to prove it if you're saying everyone's wrong.

 

Was this timed with both going at their top speeds the whole way with no slow downs while flown at similar altitudes? Because you can't test top speed unless the 2 vehicles are going at top speed throughout the whole distance you want to test.

Do you know if there is a damage threshold that needs to be met when in vehicles? Because it seems like getting hit with 1 homing rocket won't count an easy way out as a kill.

 

It took only a few mini gun rounds to my jet. The damage needed must be very small. Id be surprised if it was more than just a few rounds if not only 1 bullet.

My ratio decreased after someone sunk my car and I killed myself to avoid having to swim to land.

 

Went from a 1.75 when the car hit the water to a 1.74, just over the cusp by about a kill, which was, according to the kill feed and death cam, attributed to the low-level who drove us off the airport levy.

 

Good change, in my opinion.

The hunter is not faster, I own both and it's not that good. But even if it was faster than the akula I would still pick my hind lol, I can't stand that stupid side to side thing it does it looks like it's going to roll over and it back end is flipping ugly.....

Haven't done any PVP since the update but my kd is skyrocketing so I think all of yours ewo count towards my players killed ;) probably across all platforms also
