I like some of the cars here such as Mini , Mustang, Supra or that old Ford station wagon which I am going to buy asap. However, why would they put Lada in the game? It is a small and relatively unknown manufacturer from Russia and I remember those cars when I was a kid.My father even had one of theirs 4x4, called Lada Niva. There is really nothing interesting about them and I just can't believe we got to have Lada in this game instead of something like Mazda Miata NA, VW Beetle or original VW Rabbit GTI. Game is obviously set in parody version of California but we can't have those cars that you see so often there?

I'd say this is the worse since Beach Bum... no strike that, Beach Bum was better.

 

Dripfeeding the only two things of worth to me.... Dominator and Sea Sparrow.....

That's not a surprise really.

 

The real life 550 Mustang model (15-present) has taken a more sporty/europeon style like the newer Chargers & such.

It seems R* is just following the same path as the car's real life counterpart.

 

 

 

 

 

* My mentions on the update overall, to nobody in particular:

 

#1: Generally I'm not surprised by this update, rather disappointing as this is not a "refreshing take on racing" that so many people were hoping for.

 

#2: I like that the Karin Technical gun is getting some use again in a new vehicle, we'll have to see how it fairs.

 

#3: My toy from the old days of San Andreas/Sea Sparrow has returned....that sucker better come with modifications!!!

 

#4: I dread we won't see that Sea Sparrow or Weaponized vehicle until the very end of this dripfeed.

 

#5: Too many of these new cars look like slightly redesigned vehicles that we already have.

 

 

 

 

Bad choice for R* to make the Taipan as one of the release vehicles....imo the worst looking car to-date.

I know the use of a front splitter...but why kill the Entitiy XXR with that oversized gross one....it's the Vapid FMJ all over again.

Just finished one race, It was just a ram fest, Never playing that type of race again with pubs.

I hosted one of the new ones non contact. Was pretty decent. 10 laps. I won 40 grand. After spending over a mil on the stock car LOL.

It's still a help. Have you ever seen an Oppressor pilot EWO and 'float' into the air just before the missile hits? Now he'll have to jump like mere mortals.

Just looking at the Cheval Taipan you would think this car is going to destroy all comers. Kind of like when the Vagner came out. I cannot state how disappointed I am with the performance of this car. The Coil Cyclone was faster. The Penetrator I sold over a year ago was faster. This car would have it's hands full with an Adder. No kidding it is that slow.

I'm actually having fun with the new Hotring races. In four tries I did:

 

7th out of 30 (stock vehicle)

7th out of 26 (stock vehicle)

5th out of 19 non-contact (stock vehicle)

1st out of 30 (owned vehicle)

 

Lots of tryhards. Lots of theories over "the red/white paint makes you go slower" . Lots of dirty racing.

I don't like Catchup, but if players are going to race dirty, then it can be left on. Slipstreaming, in the context of NASCAR-style cars does belong on, IMO.

Don't think I've ever seen it but I've went in to passive myself just before a missile have hit my helicopter so that is probably still possible I believe, so people can just go in to passive instead of ewo

Well R* is constantly nodding to Russia and to the Cold War, so I didnt think it was random at all to have a Lada in the game. TBH I was more surprised to see a new brand than anything.

 

And BTW we also have this car here in Brasil (as well as the very cool Niva you mentioned) and its famous here for being "the worlds worst car" lol. I heard that since I was a kid. Maybe this "popular wisdom" is also related to the cold war since we had a Military Government here in the sixties, that was very much aligned to the USA gov, but I digress.

Hotring racing is a cluster f*ck of bullsh*t.

I mean, I'm not much of a racer but I can appreciate it occasionally, plus I wanted to unlock the liveries for the hotring sabre.

I load into a full lobby and I'm aware of contact being on and the f*ck wads pitting and all that, but I swear this wasn't even racing, this turned into pure demolition derby.

My eyes were set on the prize of first and I got it after 9 laps of avoiding parked cars and about 4 other players driving wrong way straight into us racing normally. On the 10th lap second place is now on my ass and about to pass me cause of slip stream but instead pits me and knocks me back to 11th place. Ugh, f*ck.

Another 3 laps goes by and I manage to gain first again, this time with a fair lead since most of the full session has turned into chaos.

Lap 18/20 now and still first, nearly 2/3 of the lobby is now f*cking around and smashing everything in sight. As I'm approaching the line, a guy driving the wrong way hits me perfectly so it knocks me off the edge, causing me to fall to my death and also put me back to 9th place. I quit the race lol f*ck the liveries.

Yay . . . or something. Maybe more of a yawn. I'm a racer and can't get excited by this this crap. A couple of nice looking supers and sports cars, and a $330K station wagon? Racing in technicals, and possibly other armed vehicles? More transform races to come on MAY 29?! We're getting 2 months of this slow drip-feeding crap? Guess it's time to take another break from GTA.

Adding a 90s lumina nascar is enough for me to be happy forever

 

 

Don't forget the liveries! I was so relieved when I saw the amount of liveries available, the number 5 Power Metal in black is a close match to Dale Earnhardt's GM Goodwrench Lumina. Currently using the 23 LTD in blue as a shout out to Petty's STP Grand Prix, just can't seem to get the shade of blue right though, the one I'm using is about one shade too dark. Waiting on Rockstar to churn out something like the Imponte Hotring Le Mans as an expy of the Grand Prix...same body as the Sabre; just with a different grille. Hell, most of the super class cars that are released look near on identical in my eyes so it wouldn't surprise if they did!

I honestly can't remember the last time I was this disappointed with a car, or rather just struck with amazament at how slow it really is. Didn't they test this at all?

 

And I was right in making the assumption that the Taipan would be mediocre to say the least, even in the sports category. Thing is it doesn't even handle well, so there's an awful lot of mixed crap in that bag of a car. I'm gonna pull it out of my garage now (yes, literally pull it out), and show all my friends what a piece of sh*t it really is.
