Any Blackjack players? Completely random question.

Ok, so just downloaded a blackjack iPhone app for my phone. So been playing that nonstop for about 3 hours.

 

But just wondering, my random question is: "How do you know when you're supposed to Stand"?? As in, ask the dealer to not hit?? Like when it's at 13?? 14?? 17?? Just wanted to know if you guys knew a good strategy for when to not Ask the dealer to Hit?? Thanks

That's the point of the game. You never know when to stand.

 

The higher your total score, the higher the risk to land above 21.

 

If you have 19 on your hand, it's a very high risk to take another card. You need to take a 2 or an As, otherwise you're busted. It's safer to stand.

 

If you have 16, there's still a risk to loose but you need to draw maximally a 5 to not loose. You could play it safe and stand but I'd try my luck. 17s and 18s are tricky too.

The best thing to look at is if your two card total is higher than the dealer's card + assuming there's an Ace or 10 under his unshown card.
