Why is it called the Jester Classic?

For the same reason why the Revolter, an obvious Cadillac inspired car, was branded as an Ubermacht instead of Albany.

 

AKA, for no reason at all.

 

I'm aware they are in the game and not related. It was just an example, but it still proves my point. Car manufacturers don't work in GTA like they do in real life. So perhaps in GTA's universe, Karin (Toyota in this case) owns Dinka (Honda), and Karin passed the Jester model to Dinka. That would be the best way to explain why we have a Supra that eventually becomes an NSX.

While I appreciate your attempt to explain the issue in a lore-friendly way, the true answer is that R* doesn't give a f*ck about any kind of logic and consistency anymore.

 

Coquette > Coquette Classic

Infernus > Infernus Classic

Rapid GT > Rapid GT Classic

If they did added this spoiler, this means they could add liveries as well and new exhaust options as well, and it means they are still finishing the car!

That spoiler is a mod. The name Bootlip Spoiler is just that. A small lip spoiler on the trunk. Notice there are two of them on that screenshot. The first one is the real one.

I just hope that they will wake up Benny for this travesty and fix some things about it as well as add proper NSX just like they did with Infernus Classic=>Torero

I am not an expert on the subject at all, but I would assume that livery vehicles have an extra layer or shell over them that allows the livery to be changed. The shell is invisible with no livery applied.

 

Of course I could be completely wrong about how it works, idk.

Kinda, but not quite. Every car that has liveries has two masks in the paint material, second one is basically used for liveries, if the livery is not selected it uses a texture called "nodirt" that is 4x4 pixels so it is almost invisible. Such texture is present on Jester and it is (kinda) unused.

Also I'm going to say that it was made for PS3/X360. All the textures are quite small and there are no "+hi" textures included. All the problems with the model itself are possibly due to sloppy polycount update.

I don't doubt that as Doomsday was basically scrapped story DLC.

Yeah, both the Jester Classic and the Streiter looked like they were from last generation, so it wouldn't surprise me either if that was the case.

That's really good - probably the most comprehensive video breakdown of most (if not all) of the problems with this car, and not trying to mince words or find the silver lining, either.

 

And I'm wondering, if R* really have abandoned Benny's 'because money glitches', then ...at least that means a more thorough do-over/successor is more likely - because it wouldn't be a case of adding a Benny's variant, but simply making something with near-Benny's-level customisation (bit like recent things, like the Hustler, 190z, etc.).

 

I'd love proper interior customisation, obviously (not just for a Supra, but in general - there's so much wasted potential locked up in Benny's right now), but anything would be an improvement over some bare-bones thing that got knocked out just to tick the 'we did that thing people wanted' box.

 

 

...in fact, that's a thing Figureight suggested, and he's not wrong: it's almost like R* (or the specific artists responsible) figured that anything vaguely Supra-ish would do, and so just did the bare minimum, because people will just shrug and get it anyway. And on top of that, R* can then always do a custom version, sell it for more, and turn a screw-up into an opportunity.

 

That's why I'd rather just bug the s*** out of them, ignore this effort, and only fork out for something that meets the standard of other, better cars already in the game. I resent the idea of players being treated like chumps, and magpies who'll jump at anything shiny dangled in front of them - we're more discerning than that, surely?

Trouble is, we've had stuff since that also has the same problems - again, the Lynx being an obvious example.

 

Meanwhile, some of the stuff from last-gen holds up to scrutiny a lot better than this - the Roosevelt is a better model, with a more faithful design, a unique interior, etc., and that came out four years ago. There's even some of the stuff carried over from GTA IV that looks better - the Sultan, for example.

 

 

I still just reckon it's as simple as this: there are at least two people/teams doing vehicles at R* - one side having a passion for cars, and putting time and effort into things like detail, customisation etc., while the other just ...doesn't go the distance, doesn't get why people like cars, and figures that a vaguely-car-shaped blob on wheels with some stickers on it is 'good enough'.

To be honest? It will be may when this releases, chances are I'll be bored to sh*t. I'll probably buy it it, cry about it, store it and sell it when I need space. A sad life for a supra but clearly r* is contempt with their work so whatever.

It's more square than rounded but I'm curious why it wasn't in the options. Too wide?

Yeah, you got a good point, but to try and explain all the complaints, we finally get another beloved '90's/2000's Japanese tuner, but they sort of dropped the ball on this one.

That wing I used was the tuner spoiler resized with the two (I dunno what you call them) things that connect it to the car removed.

 

I have replaced the stock bootlip spoiler with the wing from the Sentinel classic it looks way closer than the one I usually use in my screenshots.

 

The Original Sentinel wing looks like this.

 

 

 

 

 

Slightly modified and applied to my Jester it looks like this.

 

The new Supra like wing is an extra part, so those who like their Jester with out can have that option.

 

To address those who prefer it as a Dinka, I will be uploading it with Dinka textures as well. It will not make much difference to my TRD parody - DMP Dinka Motorsport Performance.

 

Oh and to fix the rear window here is something i was testing. This will also work to add a sunstrip as well. : )

Pretty much. That leaves the following options:

 

1. Benny's upgraded version

2. New thing with bits of Supra in it

3. Diddly squat

...with 1 being a bit of a piss-take, considering they'd effectively be charging players more money for them to fix their own shoddy effort, 2 being ideal and entirely doable, but don't hold your breath, and ...yeah, odds are it's going to be 3.
