Which platform is best for playing this game?

PSP

Android/iOS

DS

I think psp is the best in terms of gameplay since the controls are easier than other 2.

But in terms of graphics mobile version is the best.

Thoughts?

PSP - best graphics, more missions.
second is mobile for best resolution and ability to use touch screen alongside the gamepad.

DS is worst, low res, bad graphics, ass touch screen, bad sound quality.

DS - because the game was actually written with this hardware in mind, thus it utilizes its potential in the best way using features exclusive to DS (whistling for a cab, blow residues from the scratch cards or touch controls. Graphics are nicely stylized for comic book and the game was not only one of the freshiest GTA games since the beginning of the series, but also one of the best DS titles. The only downside may be limited soundtrack - just a couple midi format songs, but it created nice ambient and wasn't that much of a problem to me.

Second one is definitely mobile edition, which combined the positives of PSP version (graphics, extended soundtrack, additional missions) with touch controls of DS. It lost some touches, but it's probably the best version if you don't have DS.

The worst one is PSP version as it's reallu unnecessary port, serving only as a good base for mobile version. Sure PSP had better graphics, extended soundtrack and two addtional missions, but it lost everything that made CTW original and fresh. And we all know that PSP was able to run much bigger games like LCS and VCS and it could probably run San Andreas Stories as well if it wasn't for UMD size. If CTW was made for Vita and used its touch screen that it may be worth something, but right now it's the worst version made only for additional income, which wasn't really that big in the end to make a difference.

I'm gonna have to go with the mobile version. It puts the touch controls to good use, and the graphics look squeaky clean.

The second best is probably the PSP port, although as much as I love it, the controls can feel...awkward at times.

The thing about additional missions and graphics are not true. Mobile version lacks all the shadows and yellowish tint of PSP version, same goes for the extra missions for the blonde reporter chick

Oh well, I thought mobile version got these additional missions as well. My point about DS version being the best still stands, though.

And these additional missions were probably added to PSP by Sony request which ordered developers to add more content for the titles if these were previously released for different platform.

I think the mobile version is good too!

I am playing it right now but i hate that fact there is no way to exit the game other than pressing the home button.

just do it bob1

Depends....

DS: More dynamic, you could blow off debris from scratch cards etc.

Mobile IOS / Andriod: Easy to acess. Just buy it or use one of those android apps and get it for free. Good quality and is pretty much a remaster

PSP: The best out of all IMO, because you get more missions and other stuff.

It is ultimately up to you in the end

I have played DS-version only long ago but I guess when I'm getting the game again it will be the PSP-version with all the extra missions and races and much better graphics than DS. I'm just curious is it possible to get Xin's missions anymore?

I've heard you can actually use the stylus for the mini games on DS.

You can, but it alone isn't really enough to beat the extra content on PSP like more missions and races and radio stations, plus better graphics.

For better gameplay, go with the DS. For better graphics, go with the PSP.

Luckily enough, IOS and Android offers the best of both worlds.

I don't have any personal preference of platform, but I've always liked the interactivity with minigames using the DS Stylus or Touch Screen on Mobile, you can tell that they were created with the DS Hardware in mind and I think they really work well. I also like some of the more subtle details Tycek mentioned with the DS Version, being able to whistle for cabs and blow at scratch cards. Some would argue that such little features aren't really important or make a difference, but a lot of the unique features like Scratch Cards, Drug Dealing and Minigames in Chinatown Wars are exactly why I like the game as much as I do. They make the game different, and originally releasing on a DS I think it needed that uniqueness to be well received. I don't think a standard GTA format in that camera view would have worked as well for a DS Game.

I've never cared much about graphics in games, so PSP and Mobile having enhanced graphics doesn't really make me believe they're the better platforms for the game. If anything, I find it a shame that Mobile never had all of the additional content that the PSP Release gained because it would have turned out to be somewhat the 'best of both worlds'.

I think Chinatown Wars is a great game that everyone should get around to trying out at some point if they haven't, regardless of the platform they choose. For a lot of people, it'll just be whatever is the most convenient, and that is probably going to be Mobile.

I just played GCW on PSP and Android.

I prefer on psp, GCW android is good but it's strange to control

I had the best experience on the DS in my opinion due to the minigame activities being more engaging based on the time and place given. Haven't tried the phone but I'm sure it works the same way.

The PSP is great if you want an extended storyline and better graphics. It's best to stick with this if you prefer to press buttons and nothing else.
