What is your strategy against Dive Bombers?

I'm a try-hard. It used to be rpg+ewo. These days it's sticky bomb at my feet + explosive sniper. The latter is more than adequate to immediately turn the tides against a lazer.

It only happens once a year but when you do come across someone this good in a jet.. you just die. There's nothing that can be done.

Yellow Dog with Cone

1. Passive Mode

2. Pause Menu > Online > Players > Divebomber profile > Toggle mute

3. Carry on.

There's nothing wrong with getting away from a battle with someone who doesn't want to play fair.

This also applies to tryhards and griefers.

Once a year? Is my kind that rare?

I'm suprised jets still haven't wondered what they could do to get RPGd less.

Go off radar/ghost org and ewo so you change spawn and he won't know where you are.

Grab a street car, turn the lights off and avoid speeding, you will stick out.

Call in your Starling/Pyro and go get him.

Another dirty tactic is to go off radar, accept facility invite, grab a Pegasus chopper from reception and go to Zancudo for a Lazer/personal vehicle from your hangar (works best with Zancudo facility and hangar combo).

Forget using FL Ruiner, Deluxo, Oppressor, Vigilante- it won't work. You can slow them down using Nightshark or Insurgent since it takes at least 3 strafes to destroy from my experience, but you will still get destroyed... MOC cab works too but it will get destroyed eventually too.

Another thing you can do is get an Avenger, go to the sky limit and put an autopilot on. Then go use the turrets, he is forced to attack you from your height or below since you both are on the sky limit.

Ghost, then explosive sniper. This week alone I've bagged three jets using it. I love it when you take one out and then get salty comments like "Noob - off radar"

Er yeah, because you Mr Equally-if-not-more-so-Noob can only achieve anything once sat in the (former) safety of your jet fighter.

I'm not a fan of it on a few levels: it's so ridiculous that it breaks immersion (though the Deluxo is worse), it's one of the worst offenders of the recent weaponized personal vehicles for turning free roam into a sh*tshow, the fact that it has insurance costs is insane, and the combination of it with the MC "request bike" feature is obnoxious. On the other hand, it's fun to fly and a must have if you get into PvP, which I do often. So yeah I own one.

In my opinion I think it's ok with immersion, as it's relatively possible within our current technological stage. The Deluxo is waaayyyy too out there. Besides, like you said, the Oppressor is fun to use. It's practically the Buzzard of the MC. If you don't spam it like some fat nerd on his mom's couch every time someone blows it up or shoots you off it and use it to fight, then the MC "request bike" feature is absolutely ok. I like the spammable feature, it's just the fat tryhards eating cheetos that have to ruin practically everything.

On my Oppressor often. Always serpentine. Jumping and boosting. They don't know where I am going to be because I don't know where I am going to be.

Either;

1. Go passive -> get Starling -> Dogfight

or

2. Go passive -> Get Akula -> Surprise attack

I have no problem whatsoever going passive if someone interrupts my work. I never wanted jets in the sky in the first place, and for a person choosing to climb into a jet and divebomb/explosive cannon randoms, they don't deserve any kind of fair play. Just the same with Oppressors and Deluxos attacking stuff they shouldn't be attacking. Common sense.

When dealing with tryhards who harrass low levels, I'm a divebomber.

My advice to the aforementioned attempting to take me out (or anyone dealing with a jet), is to stick a bounty on me and hit me with an explosive round.

RPGs and HLs are never gonna do anything if the guy knows what he's doing.

Also take shelter in the construction site / parking lot. If you're in Sandy Shores you're pretty much screwed.

Utilise heist warp as often as possible if you're under pressure.

Hit ghost and EWO.

Be aware though, if no bounty is applied, you hit me with an XR and there's no buildings to take cover behind, I'm into passive immediately.

I know some people ridicule guys like me for doing this and that's fine. I don't really care :)

I just have to ask though - when you're in a gun fight, do you stand still and let the guy kill you?

No, you try to y'know.. not die. You combat roll and use your surroundings as cover. You use whatever means available to you to not die. Same for us.

It harks back to the opinion that some folk on this forum have, which is that if you do not conform to their playing style then you're a noob or cheater.

To be fair, jets are now far from the griefer's number one tool. That crown has now passed to the Deluxo and Oppressor user. I'll admit to feeling like a guy on the ground when a Deluxo attacks me. But I have my ways to deal with them :)

Dive Bomber? Kill myself over and over until I can use CEO and Ghost ORG. Snipe said bomber out of the sky.

If you got the three turrets, you don't need to.

Like this.

(this guy tried - and failed - to grief me after I toyed with him for a while. I already had a bounty on me when I entered the lobby)

I just use my Insurgent pick-up custom. The way it eats up explosive rounds is underrated tbh.

Then they'll just switch to the missles to blow you up.

I took more than 9 missiles with personal SUV Insurgent, it can dogdes and even outruns Lazer/Hydra/Buzzard/Savage missiles. Actually the explosive shells or a skilled Buzzard pilot able to use the minigun correctly are bigger threats to Insurgents/NightShark drivers.

Rockets are so easy to dodge from jets. On top of that it can take at least 20 of em. Most pilots would get bored at that point.

I always seek somewhere with top cover, or which is right next to a building interior I can immediately enter, both of which will keep you alive if a jet gets too close. Of course, these tactics only work if you can spot the jet before it can attack.

At the low end of the scale, I'll put myself into passive right as they nose over to attack, and hope they blow up the personal vehicle I parked nearby. The insurance costs don't really hurt most jet people, and it doesn't always work either, but a few rounds of getting Bad Sport points without a kill will often make them leave the lobby alone for a while.

Of course, if you get lucky enough to find someone with more anger than sense, you might get lucky enough to get them sent to Bad Sport for a while, as demonstrated by our resident sentient attack helicopter:

As an addendum, if you are patient and can make a jet frustrated enough, they'll eventually crash and kill themselves if you find some overhead cover. Works particularly well against dive bombers, since they are more likely to target fixate and forget to pull out in time.

It can't tho. There's a dead spot directly below the Avenger where the cannons can't aim. But it's very small - I would say the odds of a jet being able to come straight up at you and stay in that dead spot the entire time are small. And at the end of the "reverse dive," they have to either peel off to avoid you - opening them up to cannon fire - or they have to ram you, which means they die and you don't.

You'd have to consider the minute of angle of the avenger cannons relative to the approaching jet. Then consider the attack plane's size when in its own gun range. The avenger loses approximately half a city block when hovering at about 1k ft. The gun range on a lazer is 150ft iirc. That makes the blind spot pretty small on the avenger when an attacking aircraft is concerned.

Yeah, it's a tactic that just wouldn't work most of the time. You're better off going off-radar and attacking from a weird angle while veering around wildly once the shooting starts.

imo as soon as your opponent goes sky limit in an Avenger you should just give up and wait 'till they drop their guard
