What is your strategy against Dive Bombers?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure most of you have come across the dreaded Dive Bomber, you can't snipe them, you can't use homing launcher or pre-fire a RPG simply because you can't see them. They're right above you, your only window for sniping is IF they miss and are pulling up for another attempt. Your other only window of opportunity is predicting the path they will pull up in if they miss you and firing a RPG in that direction.

I'm pretty good at sniping pilots out of cockpit or taking them out with a RPG if they come at an angle towards me but the expert dive bombers I get destroyed. They don't miss and they know how to manipulate your spawn so that when you do spawn they're on you again.

Four things I found you could do but I'm not a fan of it because it makes you look like a bitch is EWO'ing, going passive, using Lester to warp back to your heist job or leaving the lobby. All these options suck when you're trying to take this guy out but haven't found a good strategy yet to do it.

Any experienced players here have any tips?

P.S.

I've searched for topics relating to this but found none in this regard.

I normally go with OTR followed up with Lester teleport to heist room or even Facility.

I care very little about whether I look like a bitch in GTA and I don't give divebombers the satisfaction.

Always make sure you teleport away and then send a snapshot of them through psn of your wang. It gets the point across.

Not if you bounty them first.

As Mr.Myagi said, "best defense - no be there."

This works not only for dive bombers, but all sorts of try-hards. The rollers who roll when you come at them in a Vigilante or plane as if that will do anything. The sniper dancers. The constant easy-way-outers. The self-exploders. And the passive abusers.

Just do as the original reply says. Teleport out of there and choose a more honorable fight. Deny them their try-hardiness. You win.

I'm usually in my MC, so I call a bike and drive away (since that's pretty fast). Passive if I don't want to fight at that moment. EWO (why even bother - you're gonna die anyways) or teleporting to a property is a "pussy" mode if you want to fight them in my eyes. You were caught in a situation, deal with the consequences.

You meet dive bombers fairly rare, so there's not much strats.
I guess just move on opposite axis of their fly path.

Finad another session or join my crew in our own lobby. Don't have time for griefers and try hards and no longer get annoyed by them as I do not interact with them in any way

The first thing you want to do is get out of the open. Then you have many options.

-Get to the construction site, a parking garage anywhere you have over head cover. Most good griefer pilots will know the map. So if your in a spot they know they cant get you they will move on. If they persist then you now have the upper hand since you can snipe them when they go back up.

-You are not gonna get them coming down but you can get them on their way back up. On their way back up you can either snipe them or use the HL forcing them into a circle then snipe them.

-Invest in explosive rounds.

-go otr and get your own jet

-hop in a deluxo or oppressor

-ghost org will force many pilots into defense mode

Hide under some kind of overhang and wait them out. Guys like that usually crash eventually since the Hydra doesn't like to pull up, and they will probably keep pushing it closer and closer to the ground trying to figure out how to kill you.

If you want to get really fancy, call in a Merryweather airstrike and throw the flare at your own feet - probably won't work but if it does you'll laugh your ass off.

I also use OTR of course. Anyone who goes passive when I go OTR immediately loses my attention. I'd rather switch sessions than play against ninnies.

Finally, call in an Oppressor (easiest if you start an MC). You can get a lot of distance from the ground really quickly and maybe have a chance, and you're so small that jets will find it hard to hit you from any angle. Worst case scenario usually is that he blows up your Oppressor wherever it spawns, so keep hiding, call Mors Mutual, and let him bad sport himself to death if necessary.

This only applies if as you dont want to go passive and he has the same attitude...

Immediately register as ceo, go ghost.

Steal a car from the street to avoid being spotted by a personal car. By night its easy to see led lights and by day most personal cars have fancy colors, ergo easy to spot.

Drive to spot where it can give you protection from dive bombers, choose it wisely since explosive cannon splashes a lot.

Snipe the dude with explosive ammo. If you dont have then leave the area asap or home launch him a rocket to force him in to circles and snipe him and damage his aircraft. Repeat as much you need with the homing launcher.

When you have 40 seconds left leave if you havent brought him down yet and only if you meed extra time by the 10 seconds left go of the radar.

With the extra min is up to you if you want to take it up to the skys and if you do try fly over him and dive on him. If you fail, well then go passive and admit your defeat.

Park your 20k insurance vehicle on a bridge and hide yourself under the bridge. After a few times they will

a) leave you alone (rare)

b) go completely nuts and insult you via chat or message (quite common)

c) orbital cannon

d) use their mod menus (if PC)

Leave the session.

Or activate MC and just spawn bikes until they get BS

I normally go with OTR followed up with Lester teleport to heist room or even Facility.

1) ^ This. I get into my own Jet after that and try to dogfight them.

2) Explosive sniper.

3) Off the radar -> Call Ron -> Accept the Contact Mission invite -> Wait in the settings for 10 minutes -> Call the glitched Ultralight (Special Vehicle) and fly to the pegasus Hydra

No matter the strategy, I will always end up in my own Jet.

I don't use passive mode though.

EDIT: There are very few dive bombers. Most of the attackers are complete noobs.

Dive bombing kills most try hardest tryhards, not much you can do at the time and place. Flee.

Go OTR then instead of phoning for a Pegasus Hydra, spawn the personal Hydra because the spawn locations are a bit more random (he will be watching the marina and the hospital spawn points if this is in Los Santos)

Get up in the air.

Kill him.

Watch him go passive.

Wait for abuse.

Also, I think that there is nothing wrong with using cheap tryhard tactics yourself in such situations.

First, "honorable fight" is a debatable term.

We know that "All warfare is based on deception". You are constantly trying to find ways to trick your opponent. That's the very essense of the fight. Even in a deathmatch.

Leave the session.

I don't share an opinion that you need to flee from the tryhard into another session.

Remember that you are not alone in this game. If you stay and try to take the scum down or at least distract his attention from other players - it would be a much more honorable thing to do.

Retreat, get some tools and take them down. Whatever it takes.

Not sure why more people don't use the Minigun against divebombing ducks.

It works great when you strafe sideways, avoiding their line of fire, and clip the wings or underside.

The body of the plane starts smoking and they usually either crash or eject before crashing.

At that point, I've already sent a Mugger on them, so it's just double the fun when he whacks the bugger and takes his $48 bucks! :)

-Ditch any car I'm driving and run near to any building as I'm always in the city(this limits the angle the dive bomber can approach me);

-Wait until his next move(he will inevitably come to me from the back, as he can dive bomb and pull up away safely from the building);

-Point the camera to his jet and then I aim with the sniper so I can try to get luck shot with my heavy sniper, most of the times I can hit it in the back which gives the jet bitch time enough to ditch his jet;

-If that strategy fails(as in, the pilot pull ups too fast for me to get a shot), I call in my Ruiner 2000, Vigilante or Deluxo.

The Vigilante can boost itself away from the blast.

The Ruiner 2000's parachute works as shield from explosions.

The Deluxo can just fly and pester the Jet with its missiles.

And if the guy still comes after me with another jet, I call in my Rogue and tear him a new arsehole in the dogfight.

Get away. Just don't deal with it from the ground- it's a waste of time and money and will do nothing. That's enough, but I like to get away and then call in a Nokota or Pyro or something, and then just hang on his tail. Either you'll shoot 'em down easy, or they'll go passive. If they go passive, don't break off. Just match their speed, stay behind them until they inevitably quit. The sort of tryhard to go passive in a jet in that scenario will never get out of passive while you're still on them. Normally takes about five minutes, but rids the session of a cancer.

For real? Can it shield you from the explosive cannon?

Go passive, find another lobby or teleport via Lester invite or just accept an invite from Gerald, wait a few minutes (restock ammo, go make a drink, take a dump, knock one out, whatever) and cancel then go and get whatever you're comfortable with to take them out with (Hydra, Laser, Akula) and go nuts.

They will probably manipulate game features to save their K/D so changing lobby or forcing them to change lobby by tailing them while they are passive is generally your best bet

Fully Loaded Ruiner 2000...when you anticipate the jet's about to make it's run, quick reverse so you're head on, carry on reversing (thus lulling the pilot into a false sense of security - he/she thinks they're going to shaft you from behind) and let loose as soon as you get the lock. Goodnight Vienna!

Very little time for even the most skilled pilot to escape a couple of head-on Ruiner missiles.

Passive and be on your way.

I guarantee, guarantee, that whatever he's planning to do once you end up behind him in your own jet is seven times more pathetic than you going passive.

People like that aren't there to fight. They're there to pad their K/D. The best way to "win" is to deny them.
