Stephen Hawking, has passed away at age 76. Details are still being developed, but holy cow!

It was a miracle of modern medicine that he could survive for as long as he did with the disease that afflicted him. And now, one of the most brilliant minds in the history of mankind, is gone.

Thankfully for us, he left behind a massive collection of revolutionary and groundbreaking work.

Rest in peace!

Well sh*t. Dude was beyond intelligent. Simple as that. For anyone who knew his work and what he achieved. RIP indeed.

RIP to a brilliant mind who overcame a broken body

I disagreed with some of his more recent doom-laden statements regarding artificial intelligence, but he was still a uniquely clever man.

"I believe alien life is quite common in the universe, although intelligent life is less so. Some say it has yet to appear on planet Earth."

I wasn't sure if it's a milestone or if april fools came early but sadly this isn't a joke.

Uncle Sikee Atric

Having studied Physics and Astrophysics at Leeds University, I actually had the opportunity to dig into some of his theories. Even when we studied them as a team, they were stupidly complex to follow and took time to get your head around, but the possibilities were astounding when you did.

Douglas Adams gave us one of the best literary quotes with, "the universe: some information to help you live in it." Hawking actually managed to answer that quote for real.

He will be missed by everyone.

I am gutted by this news. He was the most brilliant man alive.

Here's a fun fact for you: He was born on the day of Galileo's death and he died on Einstein's birthday (and Pi day).

I know. It adds a bit of "ok" to otherwise horrid news.

Considering doctors predicted he had two years to live then he was 19, he lived an extremelly long and amazing life, making contributions to science and astronomy as we know along the way too.

RIP to a legend.

Stephen Hawking was born on the same date that Galileo died (January 8th), and died on the same date that Einstein was born (March 14th).

When your body fails you, your mind compensates. We all need more time to be still.

RIP

I literally just saw him on a new episode of Startalk a few days ago. Rather creepy in hindsight.

Rather ironic this occurred today, International Pi day. Depressing nonetheless.

In an age when one of the apps on your phone has more computing power than the Apollo 11 mission, why did his voice still sound like it was being generated by a Commodore 64?

Because he said it was part of his identity, and he didn't want to change it.

May I add; He borrowed the knowledge from the universe and passed it on to the humans. He was truly the real Prometheus.
