GR33N
A lot of you would probably ask me why would I even want to do such a thing. Well I would like to essentially port VC to SA's engine (I think its RenderWare 3.5, not sure though). And not lose any of the capabilities of SA's engine. This way with the help of the community we can add a lot of features seen in SA + mods made for SA (and we all know there's a lot of quality ones out there) and make VC's world full and unique. I know there was a project that wanted to port the game to RenderWare 3.7 but I think that's dead and there is also VC Rage which looks amazing, but I think it's impossible to complete given the complexity of some missions seen in old RenderWare GTA games such as "Demolition Man" for example, I also though of going straight to V, but modding in V is still so difficult it will be a long time before that's will be even close to possible, so my next idea was to make an exact copy of VC in SA. (if possible!) So to summarize: 1. Can I copy code from the SCM of VC and make it work with SA's SCM - And will this essentially copy the mission's, or will it just brake them? 2. If it's possible, can we change the directory associated with save files - So by doing that the game doesn't clash VC saves with SA saves The more info the better. If anybody knows anything on the subject I would really appreciate it. And if its possible to recreate all the missions in GTA IV (Classic RAGE) or even GTA V (Updated RAGE) than lets do it! Thank you in advance! Edited March 13, 2018 by GR33N
Grinch_
1. Can I copy code from the SCM of VC and make it work with SA's SCM Well,of couse its possible. But just copying scm wont work.It has to be twaeked, some parts changed and of cource some rebuilded. What i mean is some codes may need to be updated. But havent seen any mods do such so far. 2. If it's possible, can we change the directory associated with save files Use this http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=29087 The source code is here http://gtaforums.com/topic/898610-where-can-i-change-the-location-of-gta-sa-user-files/ check Dk22pac's post. GR33N
Thank you, for the quick reply. I know it wouldn't be as easy as a copy>paste job. I want to get the word out for this project as much as I can, so the right people that are willing to help and have the know-how see this. They can then tell me and others that want to get involved in this project what can and can't be done and most importantly how, because there will probably be issues down the road that aren't as "easy" as editing the SCM. But to know that we as a community need as much info as possible! But hey you've already solved one of the issues! ZAZ
I converted the Spotlight mission for Sanvice TC, years ago. It's like Inan-Ahammad already said, a part of the codes needs to be updated, also actor and vehicle names have to be changed and eventually sound ID's are not present. It needs to check each line if it's ok, Spotlight mission have 1355 lines. That's hard work. Maybe a good coder will do it and maybe a second mission. For more it needs very much motivation. GR33N
Thank you for clearing that up! I know it's not gonna be an easy task, but it's not like I'm in a rush , to be honest it would be a nice change of pace, doing something different as a little side project for the times I'm fed up with my main goals. If we get a lot of people from this community involved though, that may change the workload and time needed significantly! So that's my main goal with this idea. If we all help with something it will be finished way faster than if its a one (maybe two) man job! Edited March 13, 2018 by GR33N
