Characters being reset: A possible RP/Money sweep?

Has anyone else noticed notice characters being reset, by that I mean a total zeroing of both GTA$ & RP, two of my friends have been reset, one was above rank 400 & the other was above rank 200.

Isn't it pretty pointless for Rockstar to wipe money on PC? I mean can't you just get a modder to drop millions more?

If you want to get banned... these aren't money sweeps alone I am talking about, it's total resets of characters stats

If they're legit clean players, that's outrageous.

If they glitched a bit here and there, that sucks and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that.

If they modded or used some kind of hacks and cheats online, that's the least I would expect from R*.

Id honestly feel emotionally drained if that happened to either of my characters. When I lost my character in GTA:Os first month, no big deal. Almost five years worth of gameplay, achievements, and inventory? Livid.

 

Hope those resets were for cheaters/mod menu mooks, not legit players.

Well one claimed he got his account reset because he was griefing, in his own words: "Riding around tossing stickies from a Nightshark" but isn't that part of the game, as annoying as it may seem & the other has yet to give a possible reason, I tend to avoid lobbies with other players in because of cheaters & hackers either blowing everyone up or they do something which will later have your account flag as suspcicious later on by R* such as forced money drops or RP manipulation, however I did look at both of these people's accounts & their play time seemed to be commensurate with their RP, but if they were in a lobby with a cheater present & they added a tiny bit of RP, that could be the reason

Me never.. but it wasn't me who had the sweep, only friends.

Exactly & we're all guilty of the odd hydra spree even if it was only once lol... there are more subtle ways of dealing with griefers anyway which is badsport, stat resets (including money) seems a tad harsh for griefing, unless they like I say in a lobby with a cheater & recieved either RP or GTA$

apparently one of old member who play GTAO since day 1 , met with a tragedy

feel bad for him , he got his account back but not for long it got banned again

Yes I saw that when it was current, this may be an isolated incident, it's seems those who are in closed sessions or solo public lobbies have not had it happen, the two mention do like spending time in busy lobbies, which of course we should all be able to enjoy, but with cheaters entering via every exit where R* have blocked entrances people can't enjoy busy lobbies

Quite a few long time members in my and friendlies' crews were recently suspended for unknown reasons. And these are all non-violent crews with strict policies on cheating and griefing.
